00:00We cook and eat a lot of eggs, therefore there are a ton of egg hacks out on the internet.
00:05From prepping and cooking to peeling and chopping, I'm showing you the best ones out there to
00:10make your life a little bit easier.
00:11Some of these I've tried before and some I'm trying with you for the first time.
00:15Let's get cracking.
00:16This first one is no-peel hard-boiled eggs.
00:18I've been wanting to try this one for a while and this is perfect if you have to cook and
00:23chop a lot of hard-boiled eggs, whether it be for potato salad or egg salad or just some
00:27meal prep for the week.
00:29This one seems pretty genius at first.
00:31I thought it doesn't make sense.
00:33It's like that's not really a hard-boiled egg, but I think it is.
00:37So you take a loaf pan and grease it up.
00:40Then you just take as many eggs as you want and crack them in here.
00:43I think probably up to a dozen.
00:45I've seen her do like, you know, seven or eight at a time.
00:49I'll see.
00:50I'll see how many fit as I go.
00:53Ten eggs in the loaf pan.
00:56Then you set this into a casserole dish.
00:59Then you pour water around it.
01:00So we're creating a water bath similar to how you cook a cheesecake so that everything
01:04cooks gently and evenly.
01:07So you pour the water up to the height of the eggs in the pan and then it goes into an
01:13oven 350 degrees for about 30 minutes.
01:16So definitely easy.
01:18Definitely like mess free.
01:20Not having to deal with the shells.
01:22You shall see.
01:26Looks pretty good.
01:28The yolks have set.
01:30Will they taste like hard-boiled eggs?
01:32That is the question.
01:33All right.
01:36Then you just simply invert it onto a cutting board and chop it up.
01:39So, so far it works.
01:42Will they taste like hard-boiled eggs?
01:44The yolks are firm.
01:45Nicole did not do a very clean removal, but it's getting chopped up anyway.
01:49Now look, this looks like a hard-boiled egg to me.
01:52They smell like hard-boiled eggs.
01:55And you know what that smells like.
01:56All right.
01:57Then we chop.
01:58I got to taste it to make sure it tastes like a hard-boiled egg.
02:06This is smart.
02:09Definitely will be doing this again.
02:14I will always do this.
02:15I will always do this if I'm making potato salad or egg salad or anything else that requires
02:20chopped up hard-boiled eggs.
02:23Let's make egg salad, shall we?
02:26By far the easiest egg salad I've ever made.
02:32We got to give that lady credit who started this trend.
02:36I give this hack a 12 out of 10, eight plus.
02:45I just wanted an excuse to do this next one again.
02:48This is the Jose Andres Famous Microwave Omelet.
02:53The best omelet.
02:54I don't know if it's technically an omelet or a proper way to make eggs, but it's one of
02:59the most delicious ways I've ever had an egg, simply an egg, mayonnaise, and don't be shy
03:08with it.
03:09It's like a big glob of mayonnaise, which mayonnaise is just eggs and oil, okay?
03:13And then you just whisk this together until it's really creamy and pop it in the microwave.
03:17He didn't put any seasonings in it or anything.
03:21Once the two come together, it is like the creamiest situation.
03:26Then take a microwave-safe bowl, grease it up a little bit into the microwave for about
03:3140 to 50 seconds.
03:34See how it like puffed up, but it's soft and delicate.
03:38It's not like rubbery scrambled eggs.
03:40So you invert it.
03:42See, that's just like creamy goodness.
03:47That is not like raw egg right there.
03:49And then he finishes it off with just some Parmesan cheese, freshly grated, but I'm being
03:53lazy.
03:54And some chives.
03:55I mean, that's a restaurant-quality egg in under a minute.
04:00It's like, you know those like Starbucks egg bites?
04:04How they're like sous vide, like, you know, they're so gently cooked, but they kind of have
04:09a weird texture to me, like that I don't love.
04:13This is like that same gentleness, but in like a creamier, richer, more delicious package.
04:19It's like it should not be that good.
04:28It's so good.
04:29If you appreciate, like, just simplicity at its finest, this is that.
04:35While we're at the microwave, let's go ahead and do another one.
04:38I'm going to add in poached eggs in the microwave.
04:41I did this one years ago, but it's been a while.
04:43Let's see if it still works.
04:44Because poaching eggs is just one of those things that intimidates people, I think.
04:48This might take the guesswork out of it.
04:50So starting with, you could just do a mug or any kind of bowl or whatever is microwave safe.
04:56I've got just a half a cup of room temperature water in there, and I'm going to add just
05:00like a half a teaspoon of vinegar and then in with the egg now I have seen
05:07some suggestions say we need to poke a hole in the yolk I've never done that
05:15but this will hopefully keep it from exploding well that was easy another
05:21thing you could do is just microwave it with another plate or something you know
05:28small to cover that so it won't explode in the microwave we'll just do both all
05:32right and then it's just like about a minute now every microwave power is
05:36different you might need a little more time after a minute but you can just
05:39kind of give it a flip you just want to make sure the white is set that's the
05:42goal okay I think I have a powerful microwave my yoke is set after a minute
05:53back to the drawing board on this one I'm also not gonna puncture the yolk in
05:59this one let me try that again okay this looks pretty good might just take like a
06:08second to figure out your microwave but this might be a perfect poached egg I
06:13know it doesn't appear to be because you can see the yolk but sure be standing
06:18over a stove did we do it did we nail it they've made a little hollandaise for
06:23this please be perfect inside after all this the moment of truth did we make a
06:29perfect poached egg in the microwave I'm not mad at that at all
06:38feel like people want to be mad at this idea but you can't so these next two
06:49hacks hard-boiled eggs no water required so the first one is in the oven people
06:55love this method because of just how easy it is there's no thinking required
06:59you place some eggs and to a muffin tray go into the oven 350 degrees for 30
07:05minutes and you get perfect hard-boiled eggs a muffin tin is perfect because
07:09this way they don't roll all over the baking pan so you can do 12 at a time 24
07:16at a time hope you didn't blink as far as that preparation goes into the oven 350
07:25that's 27 minutes later to the ice bath and then same thing you want to let them sit in here for
07:39about about five minutes and this might scare people I feel like this one's gonna scare people
07:48it's gonna get a little that's just where it was sitting in the pan okay just as if you were cooking
07:52anything else this was also 27 minutes feeling like I might could have gone less
07:58what we're really concerned about is how are they cooked inside beautiful you don't have any like
08:09gray ring around it you could probably go like 23 minutes if you still want it like slightly jammy in the
08:18middle but if you like just a perfect hard-boiled egg then this way is foolproof see just cut it away
08:28no harm no foul get it 9.5 out of 10 I had to deduct a little for the brown spot the next water-free
08:40hard-boiled egg is in the air fryer I've done them in the air fryer and in the instant pot equally blown
08:48away with both of those methods but I'm gonna show you the air fryer because I feel like people use the
08:52air fryer way more than an instant pot so this just goes in at 250 degrees in your air fryer for 15 minutes
09:00while we wait on these it is important to have an ice bath ready this is regardless on how you make
09:05your hard-boiled eggs you want to stop the cooking right when it's done so ice bath is the best way
09:10okay air fryer
09:12here's what they look like they have little brown spots on them
09:18that's probably just any debris that was on the egg and it just got cooked
09:23into the ice bath
09:26you want to let them hang out in the ice water for about you know five minutes or so
09:35before we go to peel them okay let's see how we did
09:37it's damn near perfect
09:44if I do say so myself that's a perfect hard-boiled egg
09:52while we're here let's insert another hack on how to peel a hard-boiled egg using a spoon now this
09:59one I've never done before so this is another trial and error you get it going
10:04and you get just a little bit off then you slide a spoon under the membrane
10:11that's pretty easy see am I teaching you anything by now
10:19cooking hard-boiled eggs in the air fryer
10:22a plus
10:24peeling eggs with a spoon
10:26a plus
10:27three hacks at one time right here because I think everyone's big debate
10:31when they're making hard-boiled eggs
10:33is they don't want to deal with the peeling
10:36the peeling especially if you just bought the eggs you're thinking they're too fresh
10:40they're not going to peel
10:40one of these hacks is for you if not all three
10:43what I don't want you to do
10:45is buy those pre hard-boiled eggs
10:49they're overpriced and they're not as good
10:53the yolks and that are always a little bit rubbery
10:56you don't have to do that just to get like perfectly peeled eggs because
10:59I'm over here making your life easier use one of the things I'm teaching you
11:03honestly I've never tried any of these three ways
11:06so I'm we're all in for a treat here
11:09hack number one they say you can just tap
11:13the bottom of the shell
11:15until you hear like a little pop sound
11:18so we have to listen carefully
11:20I heard it
11:29I didn't know it was going to be
11:32I didn't know it was going to be that easy
11:35okay see but it didn't make a crack in the shell
11:37you just
11:38we just heard that little tap sound
11:40that was exciting
11:41she's blown away
11:46this other way also involves
11:48a little bit of a crack
11:49but this time you actually I think kind of do
11:52crack the shell
11:53you just give it a tap on a surface
11:54and then place it in the water
11:56I'm a little skeptical on this way
11:59because I think it's going to make the white
12:00leak out into the water
12:02but
12:02no wait I think I go
12:04like that
12:06and it does kind of make a little crack
12:08but I think it's the same mentality as the spoon tap
12:14the spoon tap just seems a little safer
12:17oh see I know that's going to leak out
12:20okay and then
12:22a little baking soda
12:24about half a teaspoon in your water
12:27and then just drop the eggs in
12:30now I cook my hard boiled eggs the same way
12:33every time if I do them in the water
12:35and I start them all in you know just regular cool or tap
12:39you know whatever tap water
12:40and then I bring them up to a boil
12:43I bring them up to a boil
12:46I let them boil for one minute
12:48and then I cover them
12:50and let them sit for about nine to ten minutes
12:52then do the ice bath
12:53I feel like when I was a kid it really works
12:58that if you squeeze
12:59an egg you can't just break it
13:01I know this is about to just pop in my hand
13:04oh
13:07I'm doing it as hard as I can
13:09I swear
13:10look at the
13:11oh my
13:13I'm really squeezing
13:17all right
13:22the spoon taps
13:24into the ice pan
13:26all right
13:29our
13:30fresh
13:31just
13:32spoon tapped egg
13:34P.S. we bought these eggs yesterday
13:39that really
13:45slipped off
13:45I didn't even have to do it in the water
13:47or use a spoon or anything
13:48why do we like not know these things
13:51before
13:52TikTok teaches us
13:54beautiful
13:58perfect
13:59and so fast
14:00spoon tap
14:0212 out of 10 works
14:05this one is the egg tap
14:07where you kind of crack the shell a little bit
14:10so I thought the white was going to seep out
14:12there is no
14:14seepy white in here
14:15I get more seepy white
14:16when I don't do anything
14:17these little eggs
14:20are just stronger than I thought
14:22I just can't believe
14:25I'm just thinking back on all the
14:28eggs I have wasted
14:29I think
14:32it's perfect
14:34that is a beautiful
14:36boiled egg
14:37do not buy those
14:39pre-boiled eggs
14:40in the grocery store
14:42because you just don't want to peel eggs
14:45the baking soda
14:46does baking soda in the water
14:50help these peel easier
14:51it does
14:55dadgummit
14:57it works
14:57why have we struggled
15:00all those years
15:01and wasted so many eggs
15:03when we
15:03do this
15:05I feel like the little tap works
15:07slightly easier
15:08but
15:0810 out of 10
15:10our lives just got a whole lot easier
15:13this next one
15:14I think is most useful
15:16if you are making
15:17deviled eggs
15:18and you just want the prettiest
15:20like
15:20halved eggs
15:21this one
15:23I thought I could take it
15:24or leave it
15:25but
15:25I was thinking about
15:27sometimes
15:27like when you are making
15:28hard boiled egg
15:29I mean deviled eggs
15:30and you cut it in half
15:30like this
15:31you get
15:33you know
15:34the yolk sticks here
15:35and then you have to like
15:36pop this out
15:38but sometimes it leaves like
15:40you know
15:40a little yolk
15:41in there
15:42or you do
15:44what I just did
15:44and accidentally
15:45just tear the white
15:46the trick is
15:48now this is my first time
15:49doing this
15:50so I might do it wrong
15:52is you take a knife
15:54and you just roll it
15:55backwards to you
15:56and it
15:57cuts the white
15:59and it leaves the yolk
16:00intact
16:01it does make a
16:07beautiful cut
16:08but it did not release
16:09the yolk like it's supposed to do
16:11this show might have just
16:13gone to 14 hooks
16:14guys maybe you've done this one
16:16and I'm just doing it wrong
16:17but
16:18I might have just shown you
16:2014 of the best hacks
16:22instead of 15
16:23or maybe you were perplexed
16:25when you saw this hack
16:26too
16:26and thought
16:27I don't get it
16:28I don't get why you would do that
16:30pass on this one
16:32I'm here doing the lord's work
16:35for you on this one
16:36because
16:36I think a lot of people
16:37are intimidated
16:38to flip the eggs
16:40or sometimes you just want
16:41that perfect
16:41fried or sunny side up egg
16:43but you don't want to
16:45risk breaking the yolk
16:46when you flip it
16:47so we got you covered
16:48this is a hack I learned
16:49from my friend
16:50Roscoe Hall
16:51and it is called
16:53ice eggs
16:54and the purpose of
16:55ice eggs
16:56is to kind of
16:57steam the egg
16:59so it cooks all the way around
17:00without having to flip it
17:01so I'm going to start
17:02just by
17:03melting
17:04some oil or butter
17:06in a skillet
17:07then you're just going to
17:09crack your eggs
17:09right in
17:10all right
17:11so you get your skillet
17:12hot
17:12your egg is
17:13cooking
17:14like how you normally do
17:16when it starts sizzling
17:20a little bit
17:21then you add your ice
17:23when it's nice and hot
17:24we're going to create
17:25that steamy environment
17:26so in goes our ice
17:29two to three cubes
17:30should be good
17:31turn your heat down
17:33cover it
17:34and let it go
17:36a minute or two later
17:37voila
17:39voila
17:42is right
17:43look
17:43your white is set
17:45and the yolk is still runny
17:47who knew it was that easy
17:48you're going to want to
17:50grab it out with like
17:51a slotted spatula
17:52so you don't get like
17:53water on your plate
17:54the perfect
17:55sunny side up
17:56eggs
17:57hit them with a little pepper
17:59I like a runny yolk
18:01cheers to ice eggs
18:02it's delicate
18:08this is the way
18:09like an egg should taste
18:10this is your
18:11like nostalgic
18:14morning
18:15perfectly cooked egg
18:16I just got to get some toast
18:19to sop this up
18:22I mean it's perfect
18:24literally perfect
18:25eggs on the rocks
18:26you might know this one
18:29because it's kind of an oldie
18:31but goodie
18:32but you know like how you're making scrambled eggs
18:35or you're cracking eggs into like brownie batter
18:37and you get a little shell in there
18:39do you know the easiest way to remove an egg shell
18:43is with an egg shell
18:44let me show you
18:46your other shell
18:47acts as a magnet
18:48watch
18:49see
18:50it just kind of scoops right in there
18:52bing
18:53you see how it kind of goes in by itself
18:56it's a magnet
18:57a shell
18:58to remove a shell
18:59and then you don't have to like lose so much egg in there
19:03it only removes the shell
19:05because nobody needs a crunchy egg
19:07this is another one I've seen but never tried
19:11this one again comes in handy
19:13if you are making a big batch of egg salad or potato salad
19:17and if you didn't do the first way
19:19and you've got hard boiled eggs
19:20but you don't want to sit here and chop them all
19:22the baking rack
19:26now I could see this working
19:28even with potato salad
19:29because you could also do your potatoes this way too
19:32your baking rack is going to act as a knife and a guide
19:37and you can just put some eggs on here
19:40and smash them through
19:41okay that was pretty easy
19:44the good thing is
19:46you don't have to get your cutting board
19:48all like you know pasty
19:50with a bunch of like chopped hard boiled eggs
19:52you can just stick this straight in the dishwasher
19:54so I can see how this works
19:55plus you get like
19:56perfectly diced eggs
19:58it is fast
19:59it is easy
20:00easy enough
20:03I would do that again
20:05another easy way to peel your eggs
20:08you can shake them off
20:10I think this hack is for the people that don't want the eggs to really touch their hand
20:15they don't want to deal with the smell
20:16this one's for you
20:17you can do multiple or just like one at a time this way
20:21so take a container
20:24if you're doing just like one or two eggs
20:28a small jar with a lid works perfectly
20:31or so they say
20:33and then if you've got a few more
20:34you can use like a plastic container
20:36we'll just do both and see if they both work
20:38you add a little water to it
20:39don't know how much
20:40and then you just drop your
20:43hard boiled eggs right in
20:45pop the lids on and shake
20:48maybe this one works better with just one egg
21:02what am I doing wrong?
21:06maybe the jar doesn't work
21:10closing the things are the hardest part
21:14oh my gosh
21:17I don't get a different container
21:18this wall is supposed to be so quick and easy
21:26oh
21:32sorry guys
21:40I think I've shown you
21:43what not to do
21:45shaking eggs in a container is the hack not to try
21:50see that's the point
21:51I tried these hacks so you don't have to
21:53and I have given you
21:5413 of the best hacks
21:57I will definitely be using some of these
21:58in my egg preparations in the future
22:00and I hope you will too
22:01in the meantime let me know what I did wrong here
22:04what if I can get it like this
22:14I don't know try it
22:18that was funny
22:19oh
22:19sorry
22:21sorry
22:22what if I can get it
22:23that was funny
22:24it's funny
22:37oh
22:37you
