00:00Was pre-season from behind-scenes footage that's been put out, it looked like there was quite a bit of variety, did he try and make it as fun as possible?
00:07Yeah, the gaff has been spot on, it's been different in terms of doing different activities, obviously a different place that we went to in Valencia, change of scenery, change of obviously lads as well, so yeah it's been different but really enjoyable, I think that's been the main thing, I think it's been really tough but enjoyable at the same time and as I mentioned before, we played two of the toughest teams in the country.
00:30Yeah, obviously you went to Spain again but was it good to have a change of scenery, you've been three years on the bounce?
00:36100% mate, I think that's been sort of the biggest thing, I think as humans and as players you don't really want to keep going back to the same places and keep doing the same things and yeah Valencia was different, again different lads as well, that's another thing that you've got to sort of take into it, but yeah it was definitely a lot better going to a different place.
00:59Nine new faces have walked in, I think you said it in the last season we need some help so you've got it and there's still more hopefully to come but have they all settled in and they're good lads and stuff?
01:07Yeah, all great lads I think are coming into a great dressing room as well, great core group and great lads in there as well so I think if you asked them it would probably be easy to fit in really, but yeah great lads and I think that's what the recruitment team do as well, they've got to recruit good people as you mentioned before, we've not got tens of millions of pounds to go and spend on players so we've got to be acute in the market and sign good lads as well.
01:32Thierry Small looked really good against us for Charlton, was it quite exciting for you to see him come in?
01:37Yeah, fantastic, T's been sort of a breath fresh air really, he's been sort of exciting every day in training, even when he comes in he's a great character to sort of be around, not so good at tennis but I think he'll get better at that through the season, but no, really looking forward to what he can do in the season and I'm sure North End fans will be excited.
01:59Michael Smith's someone at the other end of the career, was he someone who was always a nuisance to play against?
02:04I think so yeah, I think if you're doing your work against Sheffield Wednesday I think, especially as a six, you're looking at screening Michael Smith, big unit, he's come in and been fantastic as well so yeah really, really sort of excited for what we've got.
02:18What about the new staff, are different voices naturally, no slight on who was here before but is that quite refreshing as well?
02:24100% I think, I think a lot of people are sort of scared of a bit of change but as footballers you sort of welcome it don't you, yeah Yuli's come in, worked really well with the strikers and obviously Lid's come in well so different sort of voice in the S&C department so yeah it is, you do need that change in football and yeah we've got it this season.
02:45Yourself, is there anything you're looking to add or do more of this year, I'm sure whenever someone comes around you're thinking what can I do that I maybe didn't do last year?
02:52Yeah I didn't, for starters I didn't score, I didn't score any goals so I'm definitely looking to add that to my game this season, as I mentioned before first pre-season fully fit for a good couple of years so yeah I feel fitter than I've ever been really so yeah really looking forward to the new season.
03:10Yeah the manager at the end of last season was saying we need every game to feel massive and not just you like fans, have you tried to, obviously the season's not started yet, would you want to leave from the front with that?
03:19100% I've mentioned numerous times throughout pre-season that last season doesn't happen again and the lads have took that on board and I should think mate, no one wants to be in that situation ever again so we've got some good lads in there, lads who try, it's not for the lack of trying sometimes as well I think that has to be said but yeah we don't want to put ourselves in that situation that we did last season and yeah definitely I believe in front of front.
