00:49:08First of all, I want to give honor to one of God's blessed pastor in Palm Beach County.
00:49:18Let's give him a hand.
00:49:19Certainly, I can say that because I was here when he first come, and it's been a joy ever since.
00:49:33And because I've been here with him all of that time, let us stand and I dedicate this message to you, pastor.
00:49:47And if you have your Bible, turn to 1 Corinthians 6 chapter, and I promise you I'm not keeping you alone because I'm only going to read one verse.

00:50:39To do anything, but I will not be mastered by anything.
00:50:45You say, food for the stomach, and the stomach for food, and God will destroy them both.
00:50:53The body, however, is not meant for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.

00:51:03I know I said 6, 12, but I read 13 because it blends in with my subject today.
00:51:11What is beneficial for you?
00:51:17What is beneficial for you?
00:51:20You see, I don't know about you.
00:51:25You know, I used to hear stories when I was growing up, and I was blessed enough to go to school and learn some of our history, and they talk about our freedom.
00:51:39But I've learned that human wisdom, but I've learned that human wisdom is not God's way.
00:51:46It is Christ's way.
00:51:51Because he is our alpha and our omega.
00:51:55He's our beginning, and he's our ending.
00:51:58Now, I don't know about you, but I found out in this 1 Corinthians that Paul wrote.
00:52:08He said, I have the right to do anything, you say, but not everything is beneficial.
00:52:16It's coming from 1 Corinthians 6, 12.
00:52:18Even though we got permission from our Lord and Savior Christ, you do have permission to do many things that you want to.
00:52:30But everything is not beneficial for us.
00:52:35You see, the King James Version uses the word expedient, which means appropriate or suitable or desirable.
00:52:45Not everything is advantageous to you.
00:52:48You have to determine what is beneficial, and you define what is beneficial based on the needs of your vision.
00:52:58Now, I know, I know many of you talking about I had visions, and it had not worked.
00:53:04I wanted to do many things, but I want to tell you, Jesus told you in the New Testament, in his word.
00:53:12God told you in the Old Testament, I will write my words in the hearts.
00:53:18You have a vision, no matter who you are.
00:53:22You know, I'm offering, I know when I was teaching past, and I gave that up.
00:53:26I did retire from the school day.
00:53:28I often used to tell the kids in elementary school, and I'm proud of this, my brothers and sisters.
00:53:38I was taught by two parents who had very little education, but they taught me about the benefits of God's wisdom.
00:53:51You see, when I look at 1 Corinthians 6.12, it's a very powerful statement.
00:54:01It tells us, I have the right to do anything, but I will not master, I'm not mastered by anything.
00:54:12You see, I will not be bought under the power of any.
00:54:17The Greek word translated power means to control.
00:54:21Now, I don't know about you, but when I read in the book, God isn't controlling me.
00:54:28So, we just celebrated last Sunday, but do this in remembrance of me.
00:54:36So, I don't know about you, every time I take the communion, it gets me ready to do my daily walk in remembrance of Christ.
00:54:52I know now, this is not my world.
00:54:55I'm like a boat with you, traveling through.
00:55:01You see, I understand that, as far as God said, life is not a boat of Syria.
00:55:10Life is about heavenly bound.
00:55:14You see, the benefits of power is knowing that even though you can do anything in life,
00:55:19the only thing that should master you are the things that line up with God's words.
00:55:26You see, I see people in pain, and we're living in a tragic world.
00:55:30We're living in darkness.
00:55:33We see people hurting, people dying.
00:55:38But I remember saying this to a group of men a few years ago,
00:55:45when I had to be picked on, Pastor, at a convention.
00:55:49I believe my brothers know who I'm talking about.
00:55:54To give a sermon, Pastor, that I wasn't prepared for.
00:55:59But you know, I thought about what my grandmother taught me as I was growing up,
00:56:04by one of the greatest benefits mankind have, and that's for everyone.
00:56:10The greatest book ever written, but the least book yours.
00:56:14You see, we go, some of us spend big money to go everywhere, psychiatrists, various places,
00:56:24various professionals to find out who we are.
00:56:29And we forgot about who we are and whose we are in Christ.
00:56:35You paid it all.
00:56:39Even though you can do anything in life, the only thing that should master you are the things that line up our self-giving,
00:56:45with God's words and his ways.
00:56:48I'm talking about what is the beneficial for you.
00:56:52You see, as I look at this message today, I'm saying to myself,
00:57:00what is it that will lead you to your personal vision on where you're going?
00:57:06I don't know about you.
00:57:10I tell people wherever I go, I say, I know that you have a car,
00:57:17and that car will get empty sometimes, and you end up to the gas station.
00:57:24And I ask the question, you're going to go fill it up if you want to go somewhere.
00:57:29Then I ask him the question, did you go and have sup with the Lord yesterday?
00:57:37Did you get your tank filled up so you'll know how to guide and so he can lead you along the way
00:57:45so you'll understand the benefits that God has for you, your family, and your friends?
00:57:53You see, I ask that question, and I say, you got a vision?
00:57:56We all have a vision.
00:58:00You see, when I look at something that's beneficial when it relates to what you want to accomplish
00:58:07and take you to your goal.
00:58:11Now, I know, I know, I know, Pastor, I've led that way.
00:58:15I dedicated my educational background and some of the things God has let me accomplish.
00:58:24I dedicated it to my mother and father.
00:58:27I never worked a day in my life.
00:58:30As some might say in the educational field, I went to the highest mountain, to the pinnacle on how you can arrive.
00:58:39Many of you don't hear me talk about it because I dedicated it to my mother and father.
00:58:45They always wanted to go to school, but they were sharecroppers.
00:58:48They couldn't go to school.
00:58:52They had to think about growing things.
00:58:56And that's all I used to hear my mother talk about.
00:58:59Go to school.
00:59:01Get your education.
00:59:03I did that, Pastor.
00:59:04But I have noticed and observed in my 79 years of being here on this planet.
00:59:12I keep asking myself, what is beneficial for me?
00:59:19What is beneficial for you?
00:59:21And I found out something.
00:59:23God has blessed me and surrounded me with people from all walks of life.
00:59:27From the lowest to the highest to the richest.
00:59:33And one thing I found out, Pastor, many of them are empty spiritually.
00:59:41And it makes me think about, as I just told you, my parents were uneducated.
00:59:50But they gave me the greatest benefits for me in knowing Jesus.
00:59:58And I tried to share that first with my children, my families and friends, wherever I go.
01:00:06I see people struggling.
01:00:08I see people that are always telling me, oh, you all right, you rich.
01:00:12And I find myself saying, you're rich too.
01:00:15You just don't understand who your real father is.
01:00:18I'm talking about a spiritual father that don't want any of his people to suffer.
01:00:25Who's tried to give you his all.
01:00:28And he sent you the greatest gift mankind could ever want in this world.
01:00:37I'm going to ask again, what is beneficial for you?
01:00:41Obviously, the first thing you would consider as a benefit is your relationship with God.
01:00:48If you want to know where you're supposed to go in life, you have to establish a connection with the Lord.
01:01:00A connection and a person who gave you the assignment.
01:01:07I know you all have heard him saying, Nicodemus, you know the story.
01:01:11He said, you must be born again.
01:01:14I found out what's beneficial.
01:01:16I tell everybody, if you want to go to heaven, you got to be born again.
01:01:20I found out that in life, God has created us.
01:01:29And the Bible tells us everything we need to know.
01:01:33Who you are.
01:01:35I found out, Pastor, wherever I go, most people really do, or some people, have an identity problem.
01:01:41You don't know who you are and where you're going.
01:01:47You think that this world is your answer.
01:01:52You think that Trump got the answer, some of us.
01:01:56If the truth was told.
01:01:59You think maybe modern technology can give you the answer.
01:02:03I'm always hearing people that if you want to know anything, look it up.
01:02:09They have the answer.
01:02:10You don't know.
01:02:11But I don't know about you.
01:02:14I found the answer a long time ago.
01:02:17I just was a fool like you, many of us.
01:02:21I didn't follow it.
01:02:23But now I find some people, wherever I go, brothers and sisters, tell me, you think you are somebody.
01:02:31And you know what I tell them?
01:02:32I am somebody.
01:02:35Because I'm a king's child.
01:02:37Don't let Satan fool you.
01:02:39Because you should know the benefit.
01:02:41Because you should know the benefit for you.
01:02:43You see, all those who claim they love the Lord don't realize that the Bible says the greatest commandment is to love one another with all your heart, your mind, your soul, and strength.
01:02:58That's coming from Mark 12, 30.
01:03:01You see, when you do that, he reveals to you the assignment.
01:03:05I truly believe that.
01:03:08He didn't just only give it to me because the Bible teaches you God has no respect to the person.
01:03:13He didn't just give it to Pastor Evans.
01:03:15The thing is, we made a choice.
01:03:20You have to understand your benefit in life is to surrender everything to the Lord.
01:03:27You remember when I said you go to the gas station?
01:03:31You're paying and your expectancy is that your car is going to get full.
01:03:36And you're going to be able to go anywhere and everywhere you want.
01:03:39That's the same thing about studying and reading and the most important thing is establishing a relationship with the Lord.
01:03:49You see, many of us don't understand we should be mastered by our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
01:03:58Not about what we see or what we heard about.
01:04:02My grandmother said, tell me, do you know the man?
01:04:04Do you know him for yourself?
01:04:06You see, I know many of us come here, Pastor, and we study and we listen at many messages, things that we say.
01:04:17But the scripture tells us the main benefit of life is being born again to fulfill everything that you want in life.
01:04:26And I'm going to say this.
01:04:28I've heard some say, I'm going to give this to you for free.
01:04:30Stop looking at me.
01:04:33Stop looking at the pastor.
01:04:35Stop looking at your friends.
01:04:38Start looking at Jesus who paid it all.
01:04:42You don't have to come up here in the pulpit to be somebody.
01:04:45You're already somebody.
01:04:47Because we all have a purpose in life.
01:04:51A purpose to emulate Jesus Christ who paid it all.
01:04:57You see, I look at people and they're struggling.
01:04:59I can't do this.
01:05:01I can't do that.
01:05:02But have you read the story about when Jesus fed 5,000 people with just five loaves of bread and fish?
01:05:15Did you read that story?
01:05:17Super natural miracle can happen to you today.
01:05:20I could tell you something now, but I know you don't want to be here because some of us are sports fans and we want to get ready to go watch sports.
01:05:29But I understand that in life, no matter what you do, understand the benefit of what God's purpose is for your life.
01:05:44I know my wife is going to get at me, but she made me do it.
01:05:48I signed up, Pastor, to a senior citizen group.
01:05:56You know, you go every day because I said I'm retired now.
01:06:00And I signed up with some wise people to help shape my life as I grow and mature every day as I follow the relationship with Christ.
01:06:12And I have learned that these people have really encouraged me and helped my maturity and my growth in life.
01:06:25Even at my 79th year, most people, when I tell them, especially at the center, I'm walking to my 79th year, they don't want to believe it.
01:06:34I say, isn't God good?
01:06:35You see, because I've recognized, and I know you should start recognizing, what's beneficial for you?
01:06:42You see, I see here in this message, God is trying to tell us, once you're certain where you're meant to go in life,
01:06:53and have truly committed to it, then a lot of the extraneous things will fall away on their own.
01:07:01In other words, tell your story, your experience that you have with our Lord and Savior Christ.
01:07:08Stop trying to imitate everybody else.
01:07:12Find out who you are in Christ.
01:07:15It's there.
01:07:17And then after you capture your vision, you need to prioritize your life and keep in and focusing on Christ only.
01:07:28Because he's the only one that can help you find the benefits of your life.
01:07:33The only one.
01:07:34You know, I love my wife very dearly, but I listen, but I prioritize what the word of the Lord says.
01:07:43Because sometimes, when I read, Pastor, that God is the master of everything, good, bad, or indifference.
01:07:52See, I read when God in the Bible, and you should read it yourself, it's there, when he turns Satan loose.
01:07:59School is coming up now.
01:08:01And you know, in school, we have a test.
01:08:04I just surely believe that God tests us every day.
01:08:10I really do.
01:08:11Not only does he test me, he tests you.
01:08:13Many of us say, I love the Lord, but we don't want to surrender to the benefits that the Lord have us.
01:08:21We running around looking for everything, as my grandson tell me, in the wrong place.
01:08:28And it's been there in your hand all those years.
01:08:32Been there.
01:08:33I like, I know I tell my large brothers all the time, when they're struggling with this, they're struggling with life.
01:08:40You see, Solomon told you, the wisest man in the world, according to the scripture, there's nothing new under the sun.
01:08:48Everything that's happening in your life has happened and will happen again, until we get it.
01:08:54Solomon said, how can you learn and master the things without a preacher?
01:09:01Then the scripture go a little further, and they'll say, forsake yourself, not assembling yourself with one another.
01:09:07You see, we strengthen one another.
01:09:10Irons sharpened irons.
01:09:12You see, though many of us have determined what is beneficial for our life,
01:09:19and we define what is beneficial based on the word of God and the needs of our vision.
01:09:27Then we find out that the Lord give us the power and the spirit to do everything in this life.
01:09:35And I'm going to close with you now as Jesus in 1 Corinthians, he tells us about, Paul is talking about his main interest in, with the unity of Christ's body.
01:09:50And as he studied God's words, he let us know that God promised to send his Holy Spirit and give us and empower us, to guide us, to be faithful followers of Jesus Christ.
01:10:11And we come, many of us, and we come, many of us, each and every first Sunday, and we take the Holy Communion.
01:10:20We hear the story about the perfect gift that God gave us through 42 generations.
01:10:26I don't know about you when I ask the question, what's beneficial for me, not just for you, is to never let go of John 3.16.
01:10:40For God so loved the world that he gave me, many times our trouble in this system is because we don't want to be unselfish.
01:10:54We are selfless.
01:10:57Some of us, I know, I have these ladies, I say, I see that it's sad that people around you don't even want to speak and say something kind.
01:11:08And then they tell a story about how their parents raised them and they understood that how joyful and refreshing that could be when you just say, good morning, how are you feeling?
01:11:23Not whether so much that you can do something for them, you probably could, but the question you have, we do.
01:11:30You see, I've learned that the good news for the Christian heart is proclaiming the faith, the true love of what God has done for us.
01:11:45I've learned that as I pass this wave, God unconditional love.
01:11:52And if you're going to heaven, one of your greatest benefits, greatest benefits in life is an unconditional love, one for the other.
01:12:08Your next one is faith, walking by faith and not by sin.
01:12:16And it makes no difference what your circumstances and situation is.
01:12:23God has already promised you to be anchored in his hope that you'll one day live that perfect life that you're living.
01:12:34I've learned that as I say, what is your beneficial to you?
01:12:38You're just going through the process to learn the simple word, how to be humble with one another.
01:12:45You're just going through the process, as we say, many of us to surrender everything to the Lord.
01:12:53You're just going through the process to learn and that beautiful song that they sung.
01:12:59You know that, come on in the room and let the Lord give you your medicine, your prescription.
01:13:06You're going through the process.
01:13:08When the ladies say, I owe everything to the Lord.
01:13:12But there's nothing that God don't want you to have.
01:13:17And I got to go as I close now.
01:13:20And you ask the question, what's beneficial to you?
01:13:25God saw over 2,000 years ago that we were just plain sinners.
01:13:32We messed up.
01:13:34I don't know about you.
01:13:35I tell my friend every morning, he calls me and I said, you know what?
01:13:40We are blessed in spite of you.
01:13:43If I could tell some of you some of the stories that I've done in my life and how God rescued me and brought me to where I am now.
01:13:52And then I think about the many benefits.
01:13:54And the only benefit as I close now is the story about he came through 42 generations.
01:14:03The story where I was in trouble.
01:14:05I don't know about you.
01:14:06I was in trouble.
01:14:08You see, I was in trouble so bad.
01:14:10I know I used to tell people it is true.
01:14:13When they used to tell me at school, you ain't going to be nobody.
01:14:16You're just a gangster.
01:14:16Now, I know y'all look at me now and say, no, that's not true.
01:14:23But, well, when I watched the movie of Michael Mix, and I saw how you can just point your finger, and men stood up.
01:14:34Y'all know it's true.
01:14:35You saw the story yourself.
01:14:37I don't know how God does it, but I understand that everything God does has a purpose for your life.
01:14:44Good, bad, or indifferent.
01:14:46I know you've heard the story about how many people were out there on drugs, sold drugs.
01:14:51But somehow they saw a light like Saul.
01:14:54And they put them on the ground.
01:14:56That light hit them, it blinded them.
01:14:59They had money, but they gave everything away because they realized what the greatest benefit was, was Jesus Christ.
01:15:07So I'm telling you, don't forget how he was a king, a prince, and he still is now.
01:15:13He took off his royal robe.
01:15:16And came down here in condemnation of a man.
01:15:20And he wasn't born in a hospital like many of us.
01:15:24He was born in a stable.
01:15:25Think about it.
01:15:26With animals.
01:15:28And I ain't going to tell you about the odor and the smell and all.
01:15:31The lowest that you can think of.
01:15:32And I bet you if you told the story of some of us, you'd be ashamed of it and guilt.
01:15:37But he grew up.
01:15:39And everywhere he went, if he could help somebody, he healed them.
01:15:43The scripture tells us he didn't have a place.
01:15:45Many of us stay in a mansion.
01:15:47We may not think it's a mansion.
01:15:48But, oh, God, if you just hold on to God's unchanging hand, you're going to that mansion.
01:15:55That's one of the benefits.
01:15:57And you will be like my brothers who tell me, just singing glory, hallelujah, all day long.
