00:00Israel's Security Cabinet has approved Prime Minister Netanyahu's plan for the military
00:16occupation of Gaza City, sparking global condemnation. The Venezuelan Armed Forces
00:26reaffirmed on Friday their support for President Nicolás Maduro amid recent quets from the United
00:31States government. Japanese meteorological authorities have issued a high alert due to
00:40heavy rains and flooding in the southwest of the country.
00:49Hello, you're watching Telesur English, I'm Luis Alberto Matos from the headquarters in Havana,
00:54Cuba. We begin with the news.
01:13Israel's Security Cabinet has approved a plan by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for the
01:18military occupation of Gaza City. Through a statement on Friday Netanyahu's office announced a plan stating
01:23that the military will prepare to take the city. In this context, occupying Gaza City marks a major
01:28escalation by Israel in its genocide on the Palestinian territory. The move will result in
01:33the first displacement of tens of thousands of exhausted and starving residents who are experiencing
01:38famine conditions as Israel continues to block humanitarian aid from entering the territory.
01:43In an official statement issued on Thursday, the Palestinian resistance movement, Hamas described Netanyahu's plan as an
01:59extension of its genocidal policies and displacement tactics against the Palestinian people. The movement
02:05described the plan as blatant reversal of the ongoing ceasefire negotiations in Gaza. Hamas emphasized that Netanyahu's comments
02:12exposed the regime's intentions behind abandoning the most recent truce talks, warning that any expansion of
02:18aggression against Gaza would have serious consequences for the regime's forces. Hamas also called on the
02:23international community and the Muslim world to condemn Netanyahu's plan and take immediate steps to stop the
02:29regime's aggression while holding Israeli officials accountable for their crimes.
02:35The Palestinian authority spoke out this Friday against the military occupation of Gaza,
02:47asserting that it will compromise the safety of all and deepen the crisis. Voices from around the world support the
02:53position of rejecting the plans of the genocidal government. The United Nations High Commission for Human Rights,
02:58Volker Turk, said the plan must be stopped immediately because it violates all international resolutions.
03:05Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong also called Israel not to go down that path, a message that was echoed by the
03:11United Kingdom and some Arab nations. Even within Israel, voices such as former Defense Minister Benny Gantz have
03:18questioned the government's actions. And Venezuela categorically rejected on Friday the Israeli plan to
03:30occupy Gaza. Through an official statement, the Bolivarian government condemned the action,
03:35affirming it intensifies the genocide against the Palestinian people and prolongs more than 77 years of
03:40barbarism imposed by the Zionist occupation since 1948. Adding that this occupation plan seeks to erase the
03:47very existence of the Palestinian people and is incorruptible to the conscience of humanity. In this regard, the
03:54communique follows by demanding the responsible regime by being stopped immediately and reiterating the
04:00urgency of recognizing Palestine as a full member of the United Nations.
04:10In its closing remarks, the Venezuelan government called on the Jewish people around the world to raise their voices
04:15against these crimes that betray their own history of struggle and suffering and to join in defense of peace
04:21and justice.
04:33And following the approval of the Israeli occupation plan for Gaza, the German government has suspended all arms supply to Israel.
04:39The decision was announced on Friday by Chancellor Friedrich Merz, who stated that under these circumstances,
04:45Germany would not authorize any exports of military equipment that could be used in the Gaza Strip until full notice.
04:51Merz, who regardless continued to back what he called Israel's right to defense itself,
04:57the stress they could no longer ignore the worsening toll on Palestinian civilians. The measure followed pressure from both the public and internal coalition members of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza,
05:03amid the tight Israeli aid blockade. Germany is one of Tel Aviv's key military suppliers, having issued arms experts' licenses worth over $560 million since October 2023.
05:20And the Germanists have taken to the streets on Friday to reaffirm their support for Palestine amid the ongoing Israeli aggression.
05:36Under the slogan, steadfast with Gaza, and fully prepared to confront all enemy conspiracies, mass rallies were held in the provinces of Saada, Raima, and Marib.
05:45The rallies came after Yemeni Ansar Rolla leader, Zayed Abdul-Malik Al-Huthini, called the nation and the whole Arab and Muslim world to rise up to condemn Israel's genocide in the Gaza Strip.
05:59Yemen has been active on the popular military fronts, and despite U.S.-U.K.-Israeli aggression to these territories,
06:06Sanaa's position never faltered in its supporting to the Palestinian enclave.

06:26Welcome back.
06:30The Venezuelan Armed Forces reaffirmed on Friday their support for President Nicolás Maduro amid recent threats from the United States government.
06:37In a press conference, the Minister of Defense of the Nation, Vladimir Padrino, read a communicator categorically rejects the increase of the reward offered by the United States for the capture of President Nicolás Maduro.
06:48In this sense, he expressed that such action represents interference that flagrantly violates international law and the principle of self-determination of the peoples.
06:56In this context, also, Padrino praised the efforts and operations that have been carried out in Venezuela against drug trafficking since the arrival of Commander Hugo Chavez and that currently continue with the head of state.
07:09And this Friday, Venezuelan Vice President Delce Rodriguez met in The Hague with the International Criminal Court Prosecutor Meme Mandia Yeñan to discuss Venezuela's blockade case.
07:26In the case known as Venezuela 2, Vice President Rodriguez presented the study published in the Lancet, which demonstrates the impact of unilateral coercive measures on the health and lives of people.
07:37This investigation, which covered 152 countries, determined that more than 564,000 people, disproportionately children under five and the elderly, die each year as a result of the U.S. and other Western countries' sanctions, to promote the policy of regime change.
07:54A Venezuelan official also drew the Deputy Prosecutor's attention to the slow progress of this matter, which began more than five years ago.
08:01Likewise, Venezuelan Vice President Delce Rodriguez said they addressed the issue known as Venezuela 1 and reaffirmed that no crimes under the Rome Statute have been committed in the country,
08:11reaffirming Venezuela's willingness to continue and deepen the mechanisms of positive complementarity and joint work plans in the areas of cooperation and technical assistance, always based on the premise of national jurisdiction.
08:25The Argentine government headed by President Javier Malay announced it would veto any law passed by the Congress against its budget cuts.
08:40This was said on Thursday by the head of the presidential cabinet, Guillermo Francos, who assured that laws that benefit pediatric emergencies or higher education are directed against the interests of the executive.
08:52The libertarians have suffered 12 consecutive defeats in parliament and their response has been to criticize the performance of legislators and promised veto laws, such as the ones preventing the elimination of national roads and other social and cultural organizations.
09:07And Colombian President Gustavo Petro raised concerns regarding Peru's claim over Santa Rosa Island located near the border between the two countries in the Amazon River.
09:23Colombia's position is based on the fact that the island may not have existed as land when the relevant banterings treaties were signed and that changes in the river's course should not lead to unilateral alterations of established borders.
09:37This concern also relates to preserving Colombia's access to the Amazon River, which is important for the city of Leticia's connectivity and economic activities.
09:46Colombia has emphasized the importance of adhering to bilateral agreements and resolving the disputed diplomatic and legal channels.
09:53Colombia does not recognize Peru's sovereignty over the so-called Santa Rosa Island and disregards the de facto authorities imposed in the area.
10:12The law creating the so-called district of Santa Rosa de Loreto is a unilateral act by Peru that disregards bilateral legal instruments by incorporating an unassigned island and establishing an international boundary between the two states, Peru and Colombia, in violation of the
10:42the principle of the principle of the primacy of international law over domestic law.
10:49In Bolivia, seventh generation descendants of Marshal Antonio José de Sucre currently live in the city that bears his name.
10:56The two sisters have been invited to visit Kumana, the marshal's hometown.
11:00More on the story with a correspondent, Freddy Morales.
11:03These people are descendants of the Grand Marshal of Ayacucho, Antonio José de Sucre, who, together with his fellow Venezuelan Simon Bolivar, fought for the independence of these lands from Spanish colonialism.
11:18The Villena family, particularly Mary and Nora, two sisters who have certified that line of descent from some children that the Grand Marshal of Ayacucho had here in Bolivia, and Ho.
11:31As fighting, working women and professionals of this town carry on the historical legacy of the marshal.
11:47The descendants of Marshal Sucre shared with the Venezuelan foreign minister and the ambassador during their visit to the capital of Bolivia to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the signing of the Act of Independence by the Constituent Congress, precisely convened by the marshal.
12:09Records made by the major university of San Andres gives lines of descent of the great marshal.
12:19One related from PotosĂ, another related to the department of La Paz, is a research work of several years ago published here in Bolivia, and these compatriots are referred to within that line of descent.
12:32The descendants of Marshal Sucre have documented their genealogical background.
12:42Nuestro papá se llama Eulogio Villena Sucre.
12:46Our father's name is Eulogio Villena Sucre, and our mother's name was Rebecca Sucre.
12:50Somos descendientes en séptimo grado.
12:54We are seventh generation descendants.
12:56Mary is my older sister, and we have had the opportunity to meet the ambassador and all of our visitors, and thank them for all their attention.
13:03And what does it mean to be a descendant of a character like the marshal, to whom Bolivia owes its birth and the city of Sucre itself, named after him?
13:17We are very proud, very proud of everything he has done for Latin America, for the great fatherland, but also very committed, very responsible to continue working in the spheres in which we are in our family and in our work.
13:35The two ladies had the opportunity to talk with President Maduro, who personally invited them to visit Venezuela to see the city of Cumana, where Marshal Sucre was born.
13:48May they get to know their hometown of Cumana, where their roots are.
13:55We are very happy to meet and learn about these descendants of our great marshal.
13:59I look forward to seeing you here.
14:03The sisters Mary and Nora are professionals who work in the city of Sucre, and both have established families.
14:14Marshal Sucre governed Bolivia into periods, at the end of 1825, when Simon Bolivar assigned him that responsibility, and in 1826, when he was appointed by the Constituent Assembly, he served for a total of two years.
14:30In the city of Sucre, Freddy Morales, Telesur, Bolivia.

14:51We'll be right back. Don't go away.
14:53Welcome back.
15:01Brazilian President Luis Ignacio Vazelba and Indian Prime Minister Nareta Modi outlined on Thursday their first response of the Brexit block to the tariff imposed by the United States.
15:10For this, Modi and Lula held a fun conversation, which the Indian Head of State described as fruitful.
15:15During the call, he stressed on the benefits of a strong and people-centered partnership between the nations of the Global South, especially in the current international scenario.
15:24Furthermore, Modi confirmed agreements to boost cooperation in key areas.
15:29For his part, the Brazilian President addressed the negative effects of the U.S. tariffs and discussed possible avenues for cooperation.
15:36In this regard, both leaders agreed to expand the scope of trade agreement between Mercosur and India.
15:49And we'll stay in Brazil as the country's main oil company, Petrobras, registered strong growth in its earnings during the first half of 2025.
15:56While the company is state-controlled, its shares are also listed on international exchanges,
16:01and in the second quarter of the year, the company managed to reverse the losses it had in the same period in 2024.
16:07The company obtained a net profit of R$61 billion, nearly $11 billion.
16:12In terms of production, an average of 2.32 million barrels per day was reached, increasing by 5%.
16:19These results also helped offset the fall in international oil prices.
16:24Petrobras also increased its investments in such projects, especially in pre-souled reserves in Atlantic waters.
16:41And Barcelona is a city overflowing with tourists.
16:43This phenomenon is bringing with it associated problems such as rising housing costs and the loss of local businesses.
16:49Although for some, it represents a source of employment.
16:52Let's look at the details with our correspondent, Adres Flores, from Spain.
16:56Barcelona, with more than 200,000 tourists per square kilometer in the most visited areas, is the most overcrowded city in the world.
17:08It receives 26 million visitors annually, according to data from the Barcelona Tourism Observatory.
17:14The process that Barcelona is undergoing is known as capital urbanization.
17:21In order to obtain maximum profitability, and achieve the highest possible speculation, big capital needs to urbanize, that is, buy and own specific territories.
17:33But for this to be truly profitable as they are doing, they need to somehow massificate that territory through the tourism industry.
17:40And that closes the cycle of profits that big capital obtains.
17:48For Jose Mancilla, doctor of social anthropology, the impact on daily life is very tangible.
18:00This causes a noticeable increase in rental prices.
18:03It is very difficult to control and is not only related to the issue of tourist apartments.
18:07The overcrowding of the city not only causes problems in terms of rising prices, but also raises issues of identity related to cultural loss in certain neighborhoods that are heavily touristified.
18:22A loss of the type of establishments and shops that offer products to locals for their day-to-day needs.
18:30And that they are being transformed into stores that offer products specifically to tourists.
18:35I believe that this is the only way to grow tourism.
18:40Diana works in an ice cream parlor that is popular with tourists, and in her opinion, tourism helps to create jobs.
18:49No, it doesn't affect me, in the sense that it doesn't harm the locals here. So in that sense, for me, it's a beneficial contribution.
18:59Many residents attribute the beginning of overcrowding to the urban and branding changes made by the city in 1992 for the Olympics.
19:11During Barcelona's transformation process, many neighborhoods were renovated in preparation for the Olympics.
19:20And yes, there were many neighborhoods that were very run down, and they were renovated.
19:26But this renovation has served more than anything else to promote the Barcelona brand, which serves to promote Barcelona internationally.
19:33And after more than 30 years, it has now reached extremes, promoting excessive mass tourism.
19:39Despite the economic benefits that mass tourism can bring to the city, many residents question whether it is worthwhile weighing up the high social cost that the phenomenon entails.
19:54André Flores, Telesur, Barcelona.
19:57The Japanese meteorological authorities issued high alert due to heavy rains and flooding in the southwest of the country.
20:14Precisely in the Kagoshima prefecture, local authorities ordered the evacuation of 164,500 people due to risk of flooding and landslides.
20:23About 107.5 millimeters of rainfall were recorded the day before, with authorities forecasting another 150 millimeters in the coming hours.
20:33Meanwhile, in Miyazaki, landslides in residential areas have been reported, with vehicles being swept away by rising rivers.
20:41In this context, authorities are urging the population to follow instructions to avoid casualties.
20:53Meanwhile, in China, nearly 10 people have died and 33 are missing due to flash floods in the province of Gansu in the northwest part of the country.
21:07According to authorities, the original rains have been causing floods and landslides for the last 24 hours, reaching 195 millimeters by early Friday.
21:17The downpour knocked out electricity and telecommunication services in the Xinlong Mountain area, leaving more than 4,000 people stranded in four villages.
21:26Meanwhile, the Chinese government has ordered all regions of the country to redouble the efforts to search for missing persons and identify risks.
21:34And the government of India reports that rescue operations continue following flash floods in the north of the country.
21:49Voties say more than 300 civilians have been rescued and moved to shelters while rescue teams are speeding up the search for people trapped on the rubble in a village near the Himalayas.
22:00The State Disaster Management Authority has recovered two bodies, while 16 people, including nine military personnel, are still missing.
22:17That is, we are from the end of this news brief.
