00:02:25But talking of formulas, how does this tournament get us to that final?
00:02:29Well, let's see if we can show you very quickly.
00:02:31First of all, there are 14 teams playing in this World Cup.
00:02:35There they are, they're split into two groups of seven.
00:02:38Everyone plays each other once within their group.
00:02:40And once that programme is completed,
00:02:42the top four in each section go on to the knockout quarter-finals.
00:02:46Then it's the semi-finals,
00:02:47until we're left with the last two standing on April the 2nd.
00:02:51Now, all of this takes place in three different countries.
00:02:55There they are, Sri Lanka, India and Bangladesh.
00:02:58And Bangladesh was where today's game has taken place,
00:03:02in the Dhaka suburb of Mirpur at the Shia Bangla National Stadium.
00:03:07And the match was Bangladesh against India.
00:03:10Now, to say that the atmosphere in and around the ground
00:03:12before play started was fever-pitched is an understatement.
00:03:15The whole place was crackling with excitement.
00:03:18And as the players arrived at the ground,
00:03:20it was obvious that with the sell-out crowd,
00:03:22there would be immense support for the home side.
00:03:26And the cheer when Shaqib al-Hassan won the toss and put India in,
00:03:30would have taken the roof off the place if it had had one.
00:03:32And the reason, by the way, for that insertion,
00:03:34well, apparently there was a fear of dew under the lights later in the game.
00:03:39Right, let's have a look at the two teams for you.
00:03:42Bangladesh, predictably, loading their bowling attack with spin,
00:03:45hence that worry about conditions later on.
00:03:47Mohammed Ashrafal was left out
00:03:49and that left the dashing Tamin Iqbal as their batsman to watch.
00:03:53Now, back in the 2007 World Cup,
00:03:55Bangladesh beat India.
00:03:57So there was no fear of complacency from India today

00:04:51So it's going to be the privileged one.
00:04:53There's been such a big build-up for this event.
00:04:56But this is the cup that counts.
00:05:00In a few others, this game we've got three variants of the sport now.
00:05:04But this is the cup that counts for all teams.
00:05:07Kumar Dharmasena.
00:05:10Sri Lanka will be one of the empires.
00:05:18He's also one of the youngest players in this tournament.
00:05:25He knows what it is we're playing in the World Cup.
