00:00:00The Indian skipper has done a tremendous job to get back there.
00:00:19Ridiculous running with two balls to go!
00:00:27What a joke!
00:00:30Today in Bangalore, the stars of India were on show and it was time for England to face one of cricket's greatest challenges.
00:00:46There he goes again, another superb shot.
00:01:02What a start! Game on! Definitely game on! There he goes again, another superb shot.
00:01:18Celebration for England!
00:01:21Oh gosh, he's absolutely leathered that!
00:01:24Beauty! Absolute beauty!
00:01:27Great shot! What a shot this is! Up goes to back!
00:01:31Brilliant! Absolutely magnificent!
00:01:34Welcome along to full highlights of the most anticipated game of the tournament so far.
00:01:44Let's just show you where we were today. In India, of course, we were down in the south of the country, in the city of Bengaluru, and the venue was the 40,000-seater Chinnaswamy Stadium.
00:01:57Now, at the start of the day, things looked like this in Group B, with India at the top and England third on run rate after winning their opening games.
00:02:06South Africa and Bangladesh were the other teams on two points.
00:02:10This was the hottest ticket in town. It would turn out to be justifiably so, and a packed house greeted the two captains at the toss.
00:02:19MS Dhoni raised the volume further by calling correctly and deciding to bat first on a good-looking pitch.
00:02:25He made one change from the opening game against Bangladesh. Spinner Payush Chawla coming in for Srisanth.
00:02:31England made two changes. They were forced into replacing Stuart Broad with Ajmal Shahzad because of a stomach illness.
00:02:38And after all the talk of playing two spinners, they did go with Michael Yardy in place of Ravi Bapara.
00:02:44Bob Willis and Michael Holding are with me in the studio to oversee proceedings. We'll hear from them later.
00:02:51But first, in an electric atmosphere, here's what happened when India batted first.
00:02:56What a start. Not a man you want to be giving a second chance to. England's fielding. It's not a man you want to be giving a second chance to.
00:03:25The first foot-footing in the Netherlands game was not great. They don't start well here.
00:03:29Anderson with swing. Moves away. No feet from Siewak. That's his way.
00:03:35Graham Swan, I think, at second slip has put him down.
00:03:42Better footwork getting forward this time. That first shot was a nervous shot.
00:03:51a nervous shot this goes to show that the occasion can get to the best it's a massive moment
00:03:58first ball of the match first ball at home just getting his fingertips to it
00:04:05it was a hard chance they were the sort of catches england were taking in australia
00:04:09they fielded brilliantly in australia not a great start difficult chance though
00:04:14in the air again over the man at cover he's living dangerously at the moment the rub of
00:04:24the green going save out's way with these first three deliveries he and bell was the man diving
00:04:30away to his left well we're testing the edge of seweg's bat that one just straightens he tries to
00:04:37turn it and that big edge goes over extra cover amazing bell trying to dive backwards
00:04:45not your day at the moment jimmy
00:04:50what's happening here he is teasing the fielders at the moment
00:04:55first it was sworn then it was a bill and now it's anderson himself yeah jimmy anderson all the
00:05:00england players have a double teapot on both hands they can't believe what they've seen
00:05:07a smirk and a smile from anderson
00:05:14well they can afford to smile because
00:05:21what an eventful first over this is outside edge leading edge leading edge again all landing safely
00:05:27solid in defense to endulka eight for no loss
00:05:38second off the way over pitched driven through the covers for four
00:05:52at last he finds somewhere near the middle of his back
00:05:55just a fraction of width seweg's hands again no feet just hands
00:06:03can't bowl that wide to seweg england their plans last night ball straight
00:06:07good pace yeah wrong direction there don't bowl out there
00:06:20just open the face of the blade typical seweg exquisite timing strauss and bowler need to have a chat
00:06:33because strauss has put a split field he's got four men out on the leg side he's got five on the off
00:06:39can't bowl out there to verinda seweg got to hit the stumps this wasn't too bad but it's still out there
00:06:47you've got to hit off stump he's too good
00:06:53so sachin tendulka he's not had much of the strike but gets the opportunity now just one ball he's faced
00:06:59still to get off the mark
00:07:05two slips in place for him as well
00:07:11he's off the mark now standing up tall punching it on the offside for a couple
00:07:21classic tendulka nothing wrong with the delivery not a tall man but he uses any height that he has
00:07:27just to play at the top of the bounce
00:07:32nicely turned off his hips
00:07:37had a couple of runs
00:07:45beautifully bowled perfect length from anderson and just caught sachin tendulka on the crease
00:07:52great line that was the key good seam position sachin didn't know whether to go forward or back and
00:08:00now strauss is thinking do i need a slip in can i afford the great sachin tendulka to edge one through
00:08:07the slips two men on the drive andrew or one slip and one man catching
00:08:11just short of mid wicket
00:08:20resnan is the man at mid wicket it didn't carry but it wasn't far away
00:08:28nervy start isn't it by india again the ball not quite coming on sachin with half a shot
00:08:36as he got to the other end sachin was more expansive almost telling himself come on
00:08:40hit the ball it's in your slot hit it
00:08:53cuts again this time along the ground and beaten truss at third man
00:08:58beautiful shot from say wag you give him a hint of width and he'll make you pay
00:09:03so controlled always looking to go offside he doesn't move across his crease at all
00:09:12he just stays legs side and his hands are just a joy to watch
00:09:21right before peterson gives chase does well good athlete kevin peterson
00:09:26that had four all over it from the minute it left the bat
00:09:33at least one should be two oh and it's four
00:09:41having said that england's ground fielding so far has been decent
00:09:45shazad lets one through and i think he slightly hurt himself his knee got stuck in the soft turf
00:09:50as he dived yeah it's not a ground for diving because of the heavy rain especially over there
00:09:55that was a lake over there 48 hours ago it was an absolute lake a downpour on this ground so it's very
00:10:02soft and as you go down you'll get bits of your body stuck in the turf
00:10:11that's clogged down the ground i think it was a slower ball because say i had to wait and wait and wait
00:10:18but he did superbly and then just belted it down past mid on
00:10:22goodnight up
00:10:26bresnan now by now replacing shazad
00:10:30very reliable honest type tim bresnan
00:10:34and the player that you want on a day like today where that's huge expectation
00:10:40a bit of crowd pressure bresnan is a fairly unflapable yorkshireman
00:10:44New Yorkshiremen.
00:10:46Pryor becoming very animated.
00:10:49Filling up gradually.
00:10:52Bresnan bowls a perfect line, that is the line to Saywag.
00:11:03Edged, gone, good catch.
00:11:05Pryor moving across to his right, there's no slip in place,
00:11:09so Pryor had to go, and Saywag has gone.
00:11:14Good work.
00:11:16Silence the crowd, that's exactly what they've done.
00:11:20Complete silence here.
00:11:22Not in the middle, England celebrate.
00:11:26Just trying to run it down, previous deliveries got this wicket,
00:11:29he's been so good with his line.
00:11:32Saywag trying to get just a little bit cute.
00:11:36Bresnan the wicket-taker, Pryor with an excellent catch.
00:11:40England have one of the danger men,
00:11:42Saywag's gone for 35, it's 46 for one.
00:11:48Gautam Gambier in at number three,
00:11:51following the dismissal of Varenda Saywag.
00:11:54Due to some good bowling by Tim Bresnan,
00:11:56he bowled four out of five deliveries spot on to Saywag,
00:12:00and he tried to manufacture something as a result,
00:12:04and paid a heavy price.
00:12:10Good first over from Bresnan.
00:12:12The wicket and close to the edge with the last, 46 for one.
00:12:16Lovely, well played again, he's very good, anything on the pads.
00:12:25Beautifully struck.
00:12:27The 50 of the Indian innings come with that boundary by Tendulkan.
00:12:32Well, his balance was so good here, and he had to wait and make sure
00:12:36that the ball went along the ground,
00:12:38because Strauss has got a catcher very square on the leg side.
00:12:41Just there, it went past him in a flash,
00:12:44but it went past him all along the ground,
00:12:46and that's because Tendulkan's balance was so good.
00:12:49It's actually not a bad move to have that field out there,
00:12:54because Tendulkan does sometimes play that ball up in the air.
00:12:59He's gone past his right hand this time,
00:13:02and will be another four.
00:13:13This field from Shehzad,
00:13:15and that allows Gambier to get back for a second.
00:13:18We've already seen one missed field from Shehzad.
00:13:21There's a second.
00:13:27Fine shot.
00:13:28One bounce over the rope.
00:13:29That was intentional from Gambier.
00:13:31Anticipated the length nicely,
00:13:33and got into a good position.
00:13:41Down the track, goes over Bidon.
00:13:43One bounce over the rope.
00:13:45Low half measures there from Gautam Gambier.
00:13:48He knew exactly what he was doing.
00:13:50He knew exactly where the field was.
00:13:52And a good boundary.
00:13:54Good use of the feet by Gambier.
00:13:57He knew that the fielder was in the 30-yard circle at mid on.
00:14:00There was a long off all right,
00:14:02so although he was taking a little bit of a chance,
00:14:04hitting it against the turn.
00:14:06So the field set here is everyone in the ring on the offside.
00:14:15There's just a long off, but four men in the ring.
00:14:19Oh!
00:14:20Oh!
00:14:21Oh, my stumping.
00:14:22He was looking for that inside-out shot.
00:14:24And Graham Swan will be disappointed.
00:14:25He deceived the bowler in the air.
00:14:26And a stumping chance.
00:14:27Goes to ground.
00:14:28Did he get a bit of an inside edge?
00:14:29I think he might have got a bit of an inside edge as well.
00:14:32The umpires signaled the boundary.
00:14:33And that's what might have deceived Matt Friar as well.
00:14:37Yes, a little harsh there on the keeper.
00:14:40Very difficult when there's a deflection.
00:14:43So that might have just put him off.
00:14:45He's got a little bit of an inside edge as well.
00:14:47And that's what might have deceived Matt Friar as well.
00:14:51Yes, a little harsh there on the keeper.
00:14:54Very difficult when there's a deflection.
00:14:58So that might have just put him off.
00:15:01But a lucky boundary.
00:15:03But he could see what he was trying.
00:15:0511 of the over.
00:15:1177 for one.
00:15:19There he goes.
00:15:20Inside-out.
00:15:21Good use of the feet.
00:15:22Again, one bounce over the rope.
00:15:24And the pressure on the spinner straight away.
00:15:27This is an excellent batting from Gautam Gambir.
00:15:30Yes, the bowling power play is on.
00:15:32So only three fielders allowed outside the circle.
00:15:40Satchin Tendulkar asking for a bat at the end of the last over.
00:15:43I think this will be a heavier bat.
00:15:45He's asked for now with the spinners out there.
00:15:48Down the track Tendulkar.
00:15:55Straight down the ground for four.
00:15:57That's what I mentioned earlier.
00:15:58There was a change of bat.
00:15:59So you could see the big shots against the spinners.
00:16:0350 partnership comes up.
00:16:08Lovely shot.
00:16:10Beautifully timed.
00:16:12It was just a gentle push.
00:16:13It's gone into the crowd.
00:16:14And the first six of the game.
00:16:15The 100 comes up for India.
00:16:16The shot again.
00:16:17Just timed it over mid-off.
00:16:19It's gone 80 meters into the stands.
00:16:21That does look a good bat.
00:16:22The one he's changed.
00:16:23Plenty of meat on it.
00:16:24Big shot over mid-wicket.
00:16:28Make that two sixes for Tendulkar.
00:16:29He fancies a bit of Collingwood.
00:16:30He's eyeing it up, isn't it?
00:16:31Brings his 50 up.
00:16:32What a way to do.
00:16:33The shot again.
00:16:34The shot again.
00:16:35Just timed it over mid-off.
00:16:36It's gone 80 meters into the stands.
00:16:37That does look a good bat.
00:16:38The one he's changed.
00:16:39Plenty of meat on it.
00:16:40Big shot over mid-wicket.
00:16:41Make that two sixes for Tendulkar.
00:16:42He fancies a bit of Collingwood.
00:16:43He's eyeing it up, isn't it?
00:16:44He brings his 50 up.
00:16:45What a way to do.
00:16:46He's eyeing it up, isn't it?
00:16:47He's eyeing it up.
00:16:48He's eyeing it up.
00:16:49He's eyeing it up.
00:16:50He's eyeing it up, isn't it?
00:16:51He brings his 50 up.
00:16:52What a way to do it.
00:16:53It's a nice way to do it.
00:16:54Big six.
00:16:55He sets himself.
00:16:56Oh, look.
00:16:57He gets that front leg out the way,
00:16:58so he can get the bat through.
00:16:59How much room he gives himself.
00:17:00Oh.
00:17:01He is the master.
00:17:02Well played, Sachin.
00:17:03Was there an edge there?
00:17:04No.
00:17:05And that looks a likely mode of dismissal.
00:17:06The run down, looks like it gets you in a bit of trouble in this pitch.
00:17:09out the way so he can get the bat through.
00:17:12How much room he gives himself.
00:17:14Oh, he is the master.
00:17:17Well played, Sachin.
00:17:23Was there an edge there? No.
00:17:26And that looks a likely mode of dismissal.
00:17:28The run-down looks like it gets you in a bit of trouble in this pitch.
00:17:36Very optimistic.
00:17:39Appeal and also I just don't understand why
00:17:43England players keep on hurling the ball when batsmen are comfortably in.
00:17:47They can only end up with tears.
00:17:53That is an enormous blow.
00:17:56Ever since he's changed his bat he's really found some form.
00:18:00That's his third six with this new blade.
00:18:03And Swan immediately is attacked.
00:18:05We're used to seeing Swan get wickets in his first over.
00:18:08No way is he going to be allowed to settle.
00:18:10Very first ball, Sachin Tendulkar.
00:18:13He's after him.
00:18:17And again.
00:18:18And that's equally big.
00:18:20It's into the crowd for consecutive sixes for Sachin Tendulkar.
00:18:24Next question.
00:18:25Do you think there's any chance of that ball coming back from that crowd?
00:18:28That's where all the fanatical Indian supporters are.
00:18:32They've been here from very early on.
00:18:34Gates up into 10.30.
00:18:35I don't think that ball is coming back.
00:18:45Third man.
00:18:46But he's very fine.
00:18:47And that's gone past him.
00:18:48Tendulkar's motoring now.
00:18:50One's two immediately said.
00:18:57Two, two, two.
00:18:58You'll get them as well.
00:19:08Beautifully played.
00:19:09That is a gorgeous stroke.
00:19:11Peterson gives chase.
00:19:13He can't stop it.
00:19:16Beautifully played from Tendulkar.
00:19:18He's allowed to play this shot because it's whipped the game on the delivery.
00:19:24Tell you what though.
00:19:25Nasser made the point that the pitch is not quite coming on.
00:19:28So the way that he just holds his shape.
00:19:31He's trying to hit the ball too hard.
00:19:33He maintains his shape.
00:19:35Steers it past that man in the infine.
00:19:37You can see his wrists doing the work.
00:19:39But he's still got enough power to get it past the boundary rider as well.
00:19:52Might be another one.
00:19:53It is.
00:19:55Peterson doesn't even bother chasing this time.
00:20:00Whits.
00:20:03Can I afford Whits?
00:20:05One.
00:20:14Gambier will want a couple.
00:20:16He might get more.
00:20:17He gets four on the inside edge.
00:20:19Past leg stump.
00:20:20Not the prettiest way to bring up a half century.
00:20:22But he won't mind her out about that.
00:20:28Boundaries are boundaries as far as he's concerned.
00:20:29That takes him to 51.
00:20:3059 deliveries, five fours.
00:20:31Just quietly gone about his business.
00:20:32Very effectively.
00:20:33Well, Anderson went round the park against the Netherlands and he's expensive again today now.
00:20:49He's gone for 50 himself.
00:20:51And he's only bowled six overs.
00:20:54179 for one.
00:20:59England just on the defensive, but they need a wicket.
00:21:02Swan is often the man to get them one.
00:21:04But if they get to the last ten overs and India have got eight or nine wickets in hand, there could be carnage.
00:21:11Oh, there it is.
00:21:13Often said that it's Swan that does bring England that breakthrough and he's done it again.
00:21:17So the change of bat certainly didn't work as far as Gautam Gambhir was concerned.
00:21:22Because the first ball he faced with the change of bat has been his undoing.
00:21:27Trying to run the ball down to third man.
00:21:29He's been out in that fashion against spinners.
00:21:32Dragging the ball onto the stump.
00:21:33This time missing it completely as there was a little bit of turn.
00:21:36And Graham Swan has finally got something to smile about.
00:21:39It's 180 for two.
00:21:40Huge cheers greet Yavraj Singh, who comes in at number four.
00:21:47Jurak Kohli, of course, was scheduled to come in at number four
00:21:50and is on the back of 100 in that opening game at Dhaka.
00:21:54But that is the strength of this Indian line-up.
00:21:57We've seen Dhoni do it before, be flexible with the order.
00:22:06Full toss.
00:22:07More runs up Anderson.
00:22:09Hit that hard, Yavraj.
00:22:11There wasn't much of a follow-through.
00:22:13He really punched the ball wide of mid-arm.
00:22:18Well, they are happy.
00:22:19The Indian crowd is happy.
00:22:20They know that the team's doing well.
00:22:22189 for two.
00:22:23And if England continue to ball in this manner,
00:22:26they could well get to 350.
00:22:34Ah!
00:22:36Not that confident.
00:22:40Neither Swann nor Pryor.
00:22:49I think the ball would have gone down the leg side.
00:22:52Yadi to continue.
00:22:56Four overs for 22.
00:22:58Tendulkar just tens runs short of another 100.
00:23:02No man fine on the sweep for Tendulkar.
00:23:04No man at 45.
00:23:06He often likes a little paddle sweep against the spinner.
00:23:09Also likes to go extra cover.
00:23:11There's the little nerd when it was at bat or pads.
00:23:19Runs given.
00:23:22Tendulkar moves to 94.
00:23:23Well, he's very, very clever.
00:23:25He knows exactly where the fielders are.
00:23:27Quicker delivery fired on the leg side.
00:23:29He's just a little bit inside and helped the ball along.
00:23:32Didn't try to hit it too hard.
00:23:34If you had tried to hit it too hard,
00:23:35it would have gone to the fielder.
00:23:36Six away now.
00:23:39One shot away from a second one-day 100 against England.
00:23:43Tucked away again.
00:23:44There's that gap I was talking about at 45.
00:23:48That's exactly where the fielders are.
00:23:52Great manoeuvre of the field, Sachin.
00:23:54As a captain, you always feel you're one man short.
00:24:02Sachin wants two this time.
00:24:04No.
00:24:05Big call of no.
00:24:13Tucked away.
00:24:14That will go fine.
00:24:15That will go for four.
00:24:17Five World Cup hundreds for the little master.
00:24:21More than any other player in the history of the game.
00:24:24Ninety-eight international hundreds.
00:24:27He is a genius.
00:24:29If Sawag doesn't get you, Sachin will.
00:24:34He certainly has.
00:24:36What a hundred this has been.
00:24:38This has been a very well-constructed hundred.
00:24:40He's taken time to settle down.
00:24:43He's hit the big shots when needed.
00:24:46And look at that crowd.
00:24:49Just past Colin Wood at mid-wicket.
00:24:54A boundary to Yuvrat Singh.
00:24:55That will get him going.
00:24:56Big shot.
00:24:57Huge shot.
00:24:58All the way.
00:24:59Sixth mark.
00:25:00His fifth.
00:25:01Sixth.
00:25:02Sixth of the innings.
00:25:03Stand and deliver over long on.
00:25:04Not the biggest of boundaries.
00:25:05He's been pulled in.
00:25:06He's still got to hit them.
00:25:07That's the shot.
00:25:08That's the shot once again.
00:25:0983 meters over the mid-wicket fence.
00:25:18Well, there was a long chat in the middle.
00:25:19So maybe India have decided.
00:25:20Yeah, India have decided.
00:25:21It's going to be their batting power play.
00:25:25Sometimes these batting power plays have been a blessing for the bowling team.
00:25:28And the batters have tried to do something extra and have lost a few wickets.
00:25:32England will be hoping for that.
00:25:33Still a newish ball and Bresnan has been the best bowler so far.
00:25:34Yeah, that's the reason they've gone early.
00:25:35Only two wickets down.
00:25:36So it doesn't matter if they lose a couple of wickets.
00:25:37And also the newer, harder ball.
00:25:38Plus it means that it's going to be the best bowler so far.
00:25:40And the players have decided.
00:25:41Yeah, India have decided.
00:25:42Yeah, India have decided.
00:25:43It's going to be their batting power play.
00:25:44Sometimes these batting power plays have been a blessing for the bowling team.
00:25:46And the batters have tried to do something extra and have lost a few wickets.
00:25:51England will be hoping for that.
00:25:53Still a newish ball and Bresnan has been the best bowler so far.
00:25:57Yeah, that's the reason they've gone early.
00:25:59Only two wickets down.
00:26:00So it doesn't matter if they lose a couple of wickets.
00:26:02And also the newer, harder ball.
00:26:05Plus it means that it's going to be medium pace against Uvrad, which he fancies.
00:26:10As I say, he fancies.
00:26:20Short, pulled away.
00:26:22Save your legs in the deep.
00:26:23Four more.
00:26:29Strauss has to sort it out very quickly.
00:26:31He hasn't got the right fields.
00:26:35That brings the 50 partnership as well.
00:26:44That's come very quick.
00:26:462.32 or two.
00:26:48We've got three overs left at this batting power play.
00:26:51Anderson can't be feeling that confident.
00:26:55He gets a pat on the backside from Kevin Peterson as if to say, come on, mate, you can do it.
00:27:04Absolutely.
00:27:05He's bowled varied lengths in this innings.
00:27:07And it's important that he sticks to his strength.
00:27:10Pitch it up and bowl wicket to wicket.
00:27:13He's got the third man up, the fine leg up, and Strauss has given him the feel to do that.
00:27:21After a good over from Yardi, I think Indy will be lining Anderson up here.
00:27:24Tendulkar on strike.
00:27:29There's the first of them.
00:27:30Anderson tried to do what Saurabh Ganguly suggested.
00:27:33He tried to be straight and full, but in a batting power play you've got men in the circle who would normally be on the boundary.
00:27:39Leading edge.
00:27:48The end of a marvellous innings from Sachin Tendulkar looking to turn the ball on the leg side.
00:27:53A leading edge.
00:27:54And he's gone now, but he's gone for a brilliant hundred.
00:28:02The entire stadium will be up on their feet to applaud the master batsman.
00:28:07What an innings it has been.
00:28:13It will bring, hopefully, the skipper in at this stage.
00:28:16Something which India will not mind.
00:28:22Well, there are some good sights and some bad sights in cricket.
00:28:24And MS Dhoni walking to the crease at 236 for three with 12 overs remaining is not a good sight.
00:28:30Not if you're England anyway.
00:28:37That short, hook, and four.
00:28:41Ten of the over, 239 for three.
00:28:44Back to Yardy again to pull it back for his captain.
00:28:47He's done a good job so far.
00:28:48He's going to go very fast.
00:28:50Hesitate to call this left-hand spin.
00:28:54Spearing it down at 120 kilometers an hour for the most part.
00:28:59This one's 113, but I reckon it's gone to the fence even quicker.
00:29:03That's the shot again, short and wide, and Dhoni dealt it beautifully.
00:29:12He's a strong cutter of a cricket ball.
00:29:15You don't give him room early on in his innings.
00:29:17Dhoni's the next to ask for another bat.
00:29:22And it just, the way the Indians have changed their bats mid-innings
00:29:27just suggests that it's not really that easy to time.
00:29:30But the pace that Yardy has bowled has allowed Yuvraj to get that ball through the infield.
00:29:36He'll think Graham Swan should have done better.
00:29:38262 for three.
00:29:39We should have stopped this.
00:29:45It's a pretty scruffy effort, to be honest.
00:29:54Limey, that is a wide.
00:29:56Now, Shehzada started with a wide to Yuvraj, who is expecting that short ball.
00:30:02The problem with this tactic is that if you were in Yuvraj's shoes,
00:30:06you'd just be expecting it now every ball.
00:30:08I think England have to still mix it up to a certain extent.
00:30:15Well, you can't let him set his stall out.
00:30:18I mean, he's on to that in a flash.
00:30:20He's such a powerful striker of the ball.
00:30:30Dhoni this time, a short ball, packed away on the leg side.
00:30:34Two men out, but he's picked his spot beautifully.
00:30:37Yeah, I'm not happy with these tactics.
00:30:43There's a time and place for it.
00:30:45You can keep on bowling them and going with a slower one, but batsmen adjust.
00:30:49Especially batsmen of quality.
00:30:51They'll just stand in their crease and adjust it.
00:30:53You saw Sarek right at the start of the inning.
00:30:55Instead of pulling out the shot, he just hit it over mid-on.
00:30:59So, it is, to me, yeah, it can work, but it's something you use as a variation.
00:31:05It's also not quite the surprise tactic that it was in that World 2020.
00:31:11Beautiful shot, not a bad ball this one.
00:31:13If a little wide, but the length was perfectly good.
00:31:17And he's just clubbed that away through the offside.
00:31:29He won't be changing this bat for a while.
00:31:32He won't be changing this bat for a while.
00:31:35That one races away.
00:31:37Good delivery to finish from Shehzad.
00:31:43There was an easy single that Yavraj turned down.
00:31:45277 for three.
00:31:55That's gone.
00:31:56That's gone over mid-wicket and it's four.
00:31:5850 partnership between Yavraj and his captain.
00:32:06It's coming good time from 36 balls.
00:32:14There he goes.
00:32:15Fine leg is up.
00:32:16It's 50 for Yavraj.
00:32:17He's not been in the best of form in the run-up to this tournament.
00:32:21But he's got 53.
00:32:22They've come off just 46 balls and eight of them have gone to the fence.
00:32:27There's been a lot of power and group force, but this is just...
00:32:33Timing and placement.
00:32:35Quality.
00:32:40I heard a noise there.
00:32:41So did Pryor.
00:32:42292 for three.
00:32:48Yardy to complete his overs.
00:32:53Well, he's nearly got a double there.
00:32:55He's nearly got the...
00:33:01Bowler and the umpire.
00:33:03Billy Bowden, there would have been a hole in his chest.
00:33:06Check this out.
00:33:08Oh, he's gone.
00:33:09He's gone, Billy.
00:33:15Six into the crowd.
00:33:17Some way into the crowd.
00:33:19Some way into the crowd.
00:33:22Just sits and waits.
00:33:23That brings the 300 up.
00:33:2648-60s now in the taunt.
00:33:28Make that 49.
00:33:30Should be 49 and a half, really.
00:33:31That went a long way.
00:33:34Just waiting for it.
00:33:36He knows where that's gone.
00:33:37He knows where that's gone.
00:33:39Yes, he's got such good bat speed.
00:33:44Jugraj goes big.
00:33:46One bounce into the gap.
00:33:48And the boundaries and sixes beginning to flow now.
00:33:52Already 13 of this over.
00:33:53Still one ball to go.
00:33:54So, Yardi who'd balled pretty well.
00:33:57Suffering in his last over.
00:34:02I thought the ball before he faced.
00:34:04So he was setting himself for this shot.
00:34:06Just wasn't quite the right length.
00:34:07But this time he's committed to it.
00:34:10Look at that go.
00:34:14One bounce.
00:34:16Well, he'll eye that on-side field.
00:34:17He knows this is the last ball of Yardi's spell.
00:34:20And there he goes.
00:34:22Has he found deep mid-wicket?
00:34:23Yes!
00:34:24This was flat.
00:34:25Went straight to the man at deep mid-wicket.
00:34:31So, Jugraj Singh, after playing so well for his 58,
00:34:35has been dismissed.
00:34:39He leaves.
00:34:40I think Michael Yardi's leaving the field as well.
00:34:42That one he hit back at him.
00:34:43Damaged his right hand.
00:34:45So he's just gone to get that sorted.
00:34:47But on this time, Yardi has the last laugh.
00:34:50Bottom of the bat.
00:34:52Ian Bell takes a simple catch.
00:34:54Michael Yardi, he deserved that.
00:34:55He's bowled extremely well.
00:34:56He bowled through the power plays.
00:34:58One for 64.
00:34:59Yuvraj Singh.
00:35:00He's gone for 58 from 50 balls.
00:35:03It's 305 for fourth.
00:35:07Well, Yuvraj Singh disappears.
00:35:09Yusuf Patan comes out.
00:35:13Dhoni.
00:35:15Out caught in the deep.
00:35:16Two wickets and two balls.
00:35:18First Yuvraj.
00:35:19Now Dhoni.
00:35:20Both the batsmen picking the fielders in the deep.
00:35:25Luke Wright, the substitute, making no mistake.
00:35:28It's a good catch.
00:35:29He's just literally walked onto the field.
00:35:31Michael Yardi.
00:35:32And that'll just slow things down.
00:35:33That is the way to slow things down.
00:35:34Wickets.
00:35:35Tim Breslin.
00:35:36He's been the pick of the bowlers for England.
00:35:39Picks out Luke Wright.
00:35:40Knows where he is.
00:35:41Knows where the boundary is.
00:35:43And he's down.
00:35:44He'll be a bit disappointed there.
00:35:45He'd have fancied that.
00:35:46He was in his slot.
00:35:48But he's got to go, the captain.
00:35:49He's gone for 31 from 25 balls.
00:35:51It's 305 for five.
00:35:53He's got to go.
00:35:56Virat Kohli has come out in place of Mahindra Singh Dhoni.
00:36:07Pulls.
00:36:09Just short of Luke Wright.
00:36:11The ball will go to the boundary.
00:36:12Good effort.
00:36:13He was in two minds whether to go for the catch or not.
00:36:16The ball not quite carrying.
00:36:23Again, not quite carrying.
00:36:27We'll get two.
00:36:30And that will end the over.
00:36:31Nine runs of it.
00:36:32Still three to go.
00:36:33314 for five.
00:36:39Straight back over his head.
00:36:41And this is six.
00:36:43Might have just cleared the boundary.
00:36:50What a hit that is.
00:36:53That's gone through.
00:37:00Last thing what England wanted.
00:37:0513 runs of the over.
00:37:07And once again India get a move on.
00:37:09327 for five.
00:37:17Doesn't quite time it.
00:37:18Should be taken here.
00:37:20Swan making no mistake this time.
00:37:23And Yusuf Patan in the quest of upping the ante here.
00:37:27Going for the big hit.
00:37:28Has been dismissed.
00:37:30Another batsman that changes his baton and gets out the next ball.
00:37:36This is clever bowling.
00:37:37Breslin's been the pick of the bowl.
00:37:38Slower ball, full.
00:37:42And deceives him.
00:37:43And Graham Swan will be pleased.
00:37:44Oof.
00:37:45That almost bounced out.
00:37:46More than his top game at the moment.
00:37:47He's gone for 14 from eight balls.
00:37:48327 for six.
00:37:49Another one.
00:37:51Excellent Yorker.
00:37:52So India losing wickets here and trying to improve the run rate.
00:37:56327 for seven now.
00:37:57And Breslin's figures get better by the minute.
00:37:59Really has bowled well.
00:38:00India just messing this up a little bit here.
00:38:01Come on, they've got a big title.
00:38:02There it is, that Yorker.
00:38:03Funny, it works occasionally, doesn't it?
00:38:04How strange is that?
00:38:05Slower ball, full and straight.
00:38:06Quicker ball, full and straight.
00:38:07Two wickets.
00:38:08Curly goes for eight.
00:38:09It's three and a half.
00:38:10Losing wickets here and trying to improve the run rate.
00:38:12327 for seven now.
00:38:13And Breslin's figures get better by the minute.
00:38:14Really has bowled well.
00:38:15India just messing this up a little bit here.
00:38:17Come on, they've got a big title.
00:38:18There it is, that Yorker.
00:38:19Funny, it works occasionally, doesn't it?
00:38:20Strange is that.
00:38:21Slower ball, full and straight.
00:38:22Quicker ball, full and straight.
00:38:23Two wickets.
00:38:24Curly goes for eight.
00:38:25It's three and a half.
00:38:26It's three and a half.
00:38:27It's three and a half.
00:38:28It's three and a half.
00:38:29Eight.
00:38:32Curly goes for eight.
00:38:33It's 327 for seven.
00:38:42So Zaheer Khan has come out to the middle.
00:38:44And Tim Breslin on a hat-trick here.
00:38:47Two wickets and two balls.
00:38:49Can he make it three out of three?
00:38:50Zaheer off the mark.
00:38:54It might have been three and three if Collingwood had hit the stumps, it would have been out.
00:39:03Of that, I'm sure.
00:39:10Oh, what a delivery.
00:39:12The finger has gone up.
00:39:13This is excellent bowling from Tim Breslin.
00:39:15Five wickets for him.
00:39:17Oh, Harbhajans.
00:39:27Viewing this.
00:39:30That's okay.
00:39:31There's no ball.
00:39:34Now let's have a look.
00:39:35Because it's hit him on the back leg.
00:39:39That looks...
00:39:40That looks out.
00:39:41He's just taken a chance.
00:39:43That's out, says Erasmus.
00:39:45Harbhajans leaves the ground.
00:39:46Five wickets for Tim Breslin.
00:39:49Excellent performance by him.
00:39:51Nine overs.
00:39:52Five for 47 at the moment.
00:39:56Goes for no score.
00:39:57328 for eight.
00:40:01Pius Shabla comes out to the middle.
00:40:07Oh, lucky to get away.
00:40:08In fact, well...
00:40:10Cryer can't get it.
00:40:12No ball signal.
00:40:13That's worse for England.
00:40:14That should be run out.
00:40:23Heading it straight back.
00:40:25To Jimmy Anderson.
00:40:27And in the end,
00:40:28Chawla having to sacrifice his wicket.
00:40:29Chawla just took a chance that Jimmy Anderson would misfield it.
00:40:32He didn't.
00:40:33He's a very, very good fielder.
00:40:34He's made up for that last delivery.
00:40:35There you go.
00:40:36Out goes the left hand.
00:40:37Well, that's a bit of a non-starter.
00:40:38Chawla, he's gone.
00:40:39He's gone for two.
00:40:40It's 338 for nine.
00:40:41So he'll get some battle that will want to, but...
00:40:42Well, he's running.
00:40:43He's running to the danger end.
00:40:44And he's out by many yards.
00:40:45The throw coming in for the deep.
00:40:46And that means that the Indian innings has come to an end.
00:40:47Munaf Patel turning back, running for the second.
00:40:48And Chawla having no chance of making his ground.
00:40:50None was done.
00:40:51He's gone.
00:40:52He's gone.
00:40:53He's gone.
00:40:54He's gone.
00:40:55He's gone.
00:40:56He's gone.
00:40:57He's gone.
00:40:58He's gone for two.
00:40:59It's 338 for nine.
00:41:00So he'll get some battle that will want to, but...
00:41:01Well, he's running.
00:41:02He's running to the danger end.
00:41:03And he's out by many yards.
00:41:06The throw coming in for the deep.
00:41:08And that means that the Indian innings has come to an end.
00:41:11Munaf Patel turning back, running for the second.
00:41:13And Chawla having no chance of making his ground.
00:41:16None whatsoever.
00:41:17And there was also one short.
00:41:20So they just rub salt into the wound.
00:41:23Could have been a lot worse for England.
00:41:27But still, India go to the break.
00:41:31339 all out from 49.5 overs.
00:41:35It means when England come out to bat, they need 340 to win.
00:41:39Well, the total was revised to 338 from that score because of a short run off the final ball.
00:41:50The batting card is dominated by that brilliant 120 from 115 balls from the little master.
00:41:55It's now 500s in World Cups, which is more than any other batsman.
00:42:00And takes him to 98 international tons.
00:42:03Just incredible.
00:42:04Gambier and Yuvraj both passed 50.
00:42:06But India lost their way at the end, losing 7 for 33 in just 23 balls.
00:42:12Pick of the bowlers was undoubtedly Tim Bresnan.
00:42:15His 5 for 48 a career best performance and a great effort.
00:42:19It also saved England from conceding an additional 20 to 30 runs at the end of the innings.
00:42:24The combined spin pairing of Swan and Yardy were not quite as effective as England may have hoped.
00:42:29And Jimmy Anderson was once again below his best, going for 91.
00:42:33And his form needs to improve.
00:42:35But having said all that, this really was a flat pitch.
00:42:40It meant that England needed to record their highest one day international run chase to win.
00:42:45That was the magnitude of their task.
00:42:48After all the hype, what a first over it was.
00:42:59Sawag escaping three times.
00:43:01He finally fell to a brilliant catch from Pryor.
00:43:07But then it was all about the little master.
00:43:10Another innings of pure class from Tendulkar saw him to his 5th World Cup and 47th one day international 100.
00:43:17Tim Bresnan clawed things back brilliantly at the end.
00:43:20But India still posted a daunting 338.
00:43:24So England had to pull off their highest ever 50 over run chase to win this one.
00:43:29Let's see how they got on.
00:43:38So Strauss, the man on strike.
00:43:44And off the mark straight away.
00:43:47Enough on it to reach the boundary.
00:43:49So that's nicely clipped off his pads.
00:43:51Just the kind of start England were looking for.
00:43:54That's a good delivery from Zaheer Khan.
00:43:59He's bowled well to left-handers.
00:44:00He's got control over the new ball.
00:44:03He can swing it both ways and has been very, very handy for India.
00:44:06And a tough customer to face for the opening left-hand batsman.
00:44:10It's a good delivery again, taking it away from Strauss.
00:44:17That's the doubt Zaheer puts on the left-hander's mind with the new ball.
00:44:22He brings it back and takes it away.
00:44:24You see that once again, lovely seam position.
00:44:27Not much of movement, but just held its line.
00:44:29Lovely shot.
00:44:33Punched off the back foot.
00:44:34Second boundary of the over.
00:44:36So good start for England.
00:44:37It's eight for no loss.
00:44:39And he's straight on target.
00:44:45A loud shout here.
00:44:48Will the Indians refer?
00:44:50In fact, Adoni says no.
00:44:52So height could have been the question.
00:44:54But straight on the money, Munaf Patel.
00:44:59Yes, he is.
00:45:01That's the delivery again.
00:45:04Just outside the off stump.
00:45:07A fantastic length to start with to Kevin Peterson.
00:45:12Seemed away a bit.
00:45:14I was missing off stump.
00:45:15He's really an improved bowler in the last four or five months.
00:45:18Seven months ago, nobody expected to be the front-line bowler for the World Cup.
00:45:21And he's done fantastically well.
00:45:26Peterson away with the boundary.
00:45:30This is how England have to come out.
00:45:31They have to come out firing.
00:45:34Wow, that's through it.
00:45:39It's a lovely shot.
00:45:45Just shows how good the wicket is.
00:45:49A bit of room.
00:45:51And just eased it into the gap for a boundary.
00:45:58Oh, that didn't carry to Saewaag.
00:46:00to save our change in pace you can see it's a slow ball and then carry to the
00:46:08first slip
00:46:17good effort
00:46:20you shot another man diving away England still get to looking to give himself room and come
00:46:33down the track he misses altogether 23 for no loss was sounded it's not easy Tony half a mind
00:46:49to go up get the feeling he's nicked that one
00:47:02wasn't sure how fast it was coming to it him he got his left hand to it but could have gone
00:47:07with two hands here well I think it's a real chance let's have another look at this
00:47:14fix it up into the onside and there's how we're going to see
00:47:21yeah with you I think you've got to answer
00:47:26driven down the ground beats Harbhajan and the second boundary for Kevin Peterson this is a good
00:47:34shot just waited on it and struck it on the up lovely shot that has whistled past the bowler and
00:47:46into the fence Billy Bowden had to move in a hurry he's had a couple of scares Billy Bowden but this
00:47:52was hit very very hard
00:47:56he can't stick some foot out but I bet he's pleased it didn't hit
00:48:00direct hit could be trouble Peterson gets home he's a good athlete 50 comes up
00:48:14hit in the air up and over no third man four more
00:48:17no fine leg four more problems for India good stuff from England
00:48:35inside edge there I think third man just hasn't moved he has stood he's watched it's gone for four leg
00:48:41by is given
00:48:44I thought there's two noises there
00:48:47I thought there's two
00:48:51driven
00:48:52driven
00:48:52and gone
00:48:54on the ground
00:48:55run home
00:48:56what a catch from Patel
00:48:59Kevin Peterson can't believe it I'm not sure I can
00:49:03Patel might not know what's going on you were saying it needed something brilliant
00:49:08this is a once in a lifetime catch
00:49:11it really is a once in a lifetime
00:49:14thrilled he's trying to get out of the way in the end
00:49:20arms it up thank you very much
00:49:22Apple falling out of the tree
00:49:24Peterson's got to go he's gone for 31
00:49:2868
00:49:29Jonathan Trott coming in at number three for England he has been brilliant at number three for England
00:49:41averaging 54 very good strike rate great start to his one day career
00:49:50just 20 innings to get all those runs
00:49:56Munaf Patel still can't quite believe what he's done there
00:49:59not only was it a magnificent catch but it was Peterson
00:50:05the Indians ran up to him every single man
00:50:08well when they'd be covered from the shock of what had happened
00:50:12opens the face nicely
00:50:25it's a quick outfield should be three
00:50:30is three
00:50:32oh that's a bad end to the over
00:50:4314 from it 77 for one from 10
00:50:50that might well have been the googly
00:50:57little bit of luck for Strauss
00:51:01goes for four
00:51:03gets a little bit of luck but I think that's what England need to do
00:51:0992 for one
00:51:10was the googly
00:51:16Strauss didn't pick it
00:51:17still trying to go leg side
00:51:19Dhoni picked it
00:51:21Dhoni was waiting offside
00:51:22that is a boundary
00:51:29he's nicely played
00:51:33nicely played
00:51:3452 to Andrew Strauss and what a good one it's been
00:51:42a runner ball
00:51:45and there have been six fours in the innings and he's got England off to just the start that they wanted
00:51:50the captain leading from the front he's been positive from the word go and he's played a game which he normally isn't used to going down the pitch trying to loft the bowlers but he's shown the way to the rest of the batsmen
00:52:05he's going to run away but oh should have been stopped poor effort this from Tendulkar running around at fine leg
00:52:21probably just a little stiff after his batting effort and also going down to the wrong side for him
00:52:31that's wrong side that is the left hand
00:52:35what a delivery
00:52:50there's a noise was it pad
00:52:55the googly I don't think Strauss is picking Chowler
00:53:00just hit the back of the pad
00:53:02maybe surprising that there was an appeal for LBW
00:53:06didn't pick that one did not pick that one
00:53:14he didn't Andrew Strauss is not picking him
00:53:18and in fact Jonathan Trott at the non-striker's end and pointed out to Strauss the odd googly but
00:53:24I'm not sure Trott himself picked that one
00:53:27close
00:53:35and Trott is not hanging around
00:53:39he's not going to review that
00:53:40he's played across a very straight delivery
00:53:42one that pitched
00:53:43I think the replays will show us around middle and leg
00:53:47and it was a leg spinner and straightened
00:53:48and Trott has gone 111 for two
00:53:51the quicker delivery
00:53:56he shuffles a fair bit as well
00:53:58Jonathan Trott has turned a little bit
00:54:01and he finds him straight in front of the stump
00:54:05he was delighted
00:54:061-1-1 for two
00:54:08Ian Bell in at number four replacing his Warwickshire teammate Jonathan Trott
00:54:16who fell to a Piaz Chowler leg spinner
00:54:19now that's turning too much Bell hasn't picked it England are struggling to pick Chowler
00:54:27he bowls a very good googly
00:54:30well that came very quickly as well
00:54:37and a bit of hurt inside it
00:54:40and that out says Billy Bowden
00:54:44England confirming the stereotype here that they can't play with the spin
00:54:50that's beautifully bold from Chowler he's finding his length 111 for two
00:54:54for a moment
00:55:04for a moment
00:55:04I thought that was a thick outside edge
00:55:07in the end that ball's raced away to the boundary
00:55:10but it was a long way from being a half volley
00:55:12four
00:55:15bad over this
00:55:17too many bad deliveries from Chowler
00:55:19short deliveries
00:55:20this one was leg side
00:55:21128 for two
00:55:22my
00:55:29I don't know how close it was the stump
00:55:32it was very close to the outside edge
00:55:34it was close all round
00:55:39now that's close is it
00:55:44or has it come off the glove
00:55:47has it turned too much
00:55:48let's see what the umpire gives
00:55:49leg dies
00:55:51132 for two
00:55:54I actually thought there was bat involved
00:55:58or something there's
00:56:00have a look
00:56:01maybe outside
00:56:03it's going to miss off stump
00:56:04isn't it
00:56:04short and this time
00:56:08Strauss
00:56:09makes no mistake
00:56:10he's pulled it
00:56:11straighter of the man out
00:56:13at deep mid wicket
00:56:14another boundary
00:56:15I think this is the crucial period of the game now
00:56:26with the ball getting a little older
00:56:27softer
00:56:28and softer
00:56:29no there's no point
00:56:41no that's what's allowed to stand his ground
00:56:43there's absolutely nothing wrong with that
00:56:45I don't quite know what
00:56:49he's getting upset about
00:56:51superbly played and that's a shot that's got him a lot of runs today
00:57:02again just taking it from outside the off stump so he could get it square and into the gap
00:57:08that's very delicate and it's very successful and I think it'll go all the way
00:57:16I don't think Kahn's going to cut that off
00:57:19that's a clever shot
00:57:21this will beat Tendulkar to the boundary
00:57:30excellent placement
00:57:31very good placement
00:57:33he's looking to give you Braz this charge
00:57:38and then straight back force the bowler to drop it short
00:57:41and again the boundary in the over
00:57:44now that's close
00:57:49will they refer
00:57:51Tony says no
00:57:53well they are referring
00:57:57it was you Braz who came and told him
00:57:59refer
00:58:00he's the bowler
00:58:03and a part-time bowler
00:58:04so he might be getting a bit excited
00:58:05it'll be interesting to see
00:58:07interesting that no one else seemed that interested
00:58:10batsmen don't look particularly worried
00:58:12well let's have a look
00:58:15there's nothing wrong
00:58:18it's a fair delivery so there's no problems there
00:58:20the only thing is
00:58:28is whether he's outside the line
00:58:30and that's something that Hawkeye will tell us
00:58:32this is going to be touch and go
00:58:38might just go in favor of the bowl of this
00:58:40so more than 2.5 meters is the message that's gone across
00:58:48not out is the decision
00:58:51original decision is not out
00:58:56the message will go to Billy Bowden now
00:58:59what's happening here Ian Bell is going back he was walking off the field that looked very close
00:59:14I'll tell you what this is really very close this has been changed because of the distance he was down the pitch
00:59:19yeah now I think that rule should only be a guideline
00:59:25it's an interesting rule because the ball's not going to bounce over the top
00:59:28very interesting very lucky Ian Bell here
00:59:40it's 167 for two
00:59:50that could go past the short finalic field is
00:59:55Sehwag giving a chase
00:59:56will it carry all the way yes it has
00:59:59have to wait and see yeah it's a hit
01:00:04just four men in the ring plenty of gaps
01:00:09in the field
01:00:11enough space for Strauss to get the single
01:00:14and he gets it now
01:00:16this is a magnificent hundred from the England captain Andrew Strauss
01:00:21he punches the air in delight
01:00:23he knows his job is only half done
01:00:25his first hundred in world cup cricket
01:00:28first against India
01:00:30and his sixth overall
01:00:34and it's been a very very good hundred
01:00:36he knows the job's not over yet for him and for his team
01:00:40if England have to make a game out of it he has to carry on
01:00:47chipped in the air into the gap
01:00:50one bounce over the rope so
01:00:52Ian Bell also playing his part
01:00:55it's 182 for two
01:01:00again superb placement short it gets the treatment
01:01:05he really has played well off the back foot
01:01:08his placement has been superb
01:01:10now will there be a bit of reverse swing under lights it might just zip through
01:01:18Zahir Khan needs to produce a spell here just the change of pace
01:01:22might spur on India and cause a few problems yeah just a hint of reverse away there from round the wicket
01:01:32edge fine just what England needed keeps the pressure on India 196 for two
01:01:38it's a good delivery
01:01:43it's a good delivery beaten Andrew Strauss
01:01:49his four front line bowlers will be in action from now on till the end of the game and that's what
01:01:52Dhoni needs to do at all stage that's the replay
01:01:55not much of reverse swing just carried on
01:02:00carried on with the scene just keep on getting some noises every time it passes
01:02:05massive noise
01:02:06in the air and finds the gap Ian Bell making them pay
01:02:17pressure's back on India again
01:02:18down the pitch hit straight hit hard hit all the way for six
01:02:27brings up the hundred partnership in just 94 deliveries
01:02:44that's gone a long way into the stands probably the biggest six of the day
01:02:48oh
01:02:58short ball well fielded half a chance of a run out all happening out there
01:03:07excellent work by you've rotsing that ball was struck very very fiercely
01:03:11by Ian Bell but to his correct hand the left hand
01:03:18he stopped the ball and then got it off very very quickly
01:03:22well they need something like that and they need it quickly something special they've had one
01:03:30from Munaf Patel can someone else come in now
01:03:34slogged into the deep will it go all the way yes it will six more
01:03:4050 for Bell in just 45 deliveries
01:03:44Dhoni a worried man
01:03:45what a lovely way to get to your half century this has been a capital innings from Ian Bell as well
01:03:54at the other end Andrew Staus has played quite superbly in Ian Bell this is a terrific innings
01:04:00cutaway
01:04:05cutaway backward of square ball runs away here four more 13 from the over 229 for two
01:04:15will be four more every over there's a boundary
01:04:32in the air and fine
01:04:36it's going England's way they deserve it they're playing beautifully
01:04:39yes I think if the initial part of the game went India's way with those half chances offered by
01:04:47Vrinda Sehwag now England capitalized capitalizing on a little bit of fortune there
01:04:59one-handed but the luck is with Bell tonight
01:05:03oh just spooning over backward point he gets back for a second that's the 150 partnership between these two
01:05:09one-handed and one-handed and one-handed and one-handed and one-handed and one-handed and one-handed
01:05:18missed field
01:05:20been a few tonight from both teams actually but it may be that India's a more costly
01:05:39good play
01:05:40it'll be short to Andrew Strauss Strauss
01:05:45Strauss has
01:05:46uh
01:05:48pulled him he's cut him
01:05:49Yeah, you've got to look at a bowler's length in relation to the batsman they're bowling at
01:05:58and the pitch they're bowling on, this is a very slow pitch
01:06:01so that would suggest as a spinner you've got to try and get your length a little fuller
01:06:05and also to somebody like Strauss who likes to sit on the back foot
01:06:09and just work it square of the wicket
01:06:12you've got to again get Fuller to drag him forward
01:06:14so on both counts, Chowler's length has been too short
01:06:20Yes, his first over he looked very nervous, just about every ball was shot
01:06:26here again he's bowled it short
01:06:27Well, it's a perfect example and he's been punished by Strauss
01:06:35it's a boundary that brings up he's 150, this is an outstanding effort from the England captain
01:06:40remarkably now, for somebody who's never had a great reputation in one day cricket
01:06:45he's got three scores in this form of the game of over 150
01:06:48And the body language of the Indians now not looking good
01:06:53Good fielding, swept very hard by Strauss
01:07:05That's excellent running, he wasn't going to take that
01:07:20and then he saw the Indian fielder, who was it?
01:07:27Gambia down there on the fence, allowed two to be run, 278 for two
01:07:32All down, more evidence of poor fielding from India, I think it carried
01:07:43it's Virat Kohli at slip, we'll take another look, but I felt that this carried
01:07:47Oh it carries, no worries about that, that's gone, it's gone quite quickly, but again
01:07:52if you don't support your field, er, bowlers rather, when you're in the field
01:07:57it can be very costly
01:08:05Well, there are two areas as Ian Bell, I think, was suffering from a little bit of cramp
01:08:11in his calf
01:08:13two areas that fell in were India's Achilles heel when I saw them in Dhaka
01:08:17one was the lack of a fifth bowler and the second thing was their fielding
01:08:20and both, I think, have been highlighted here tonight
01:08:28It's Connie and Bell, he needs a runner and quickly
01:08:33it's not a pleasant thing when you get cramp
01:08:39He's not getting a lot of help from anyone around him either
01:08:41Physios will come out
01:08:50and the 12 men, 12 men there, we'll have a look and see what the damage is
01:08:54it's 278 for two
01:09:02Andrew Strauss has called for the power play
01:09:04England have got this batting power play up their sleeves
01:09:06they've called it in the 43rd over
01:09:09and it's difficult to see
01:09:10maybe this is the thing that India need
01:09:12they need a miracle now
01:09:18this should be out
01:09:19and is out
01:09:21Ian Bell is struggling with cramp
01:09:22he'll hobble off
01:09:24and he'll be able to get some treatment now because he's gone
01:09:27is there a twist in the tail yet
01:09:29281 for three
01:09:30yeah well, if you're going to take the power play you just play normally
01:09:39nice
01:09:40tried to hit it out the ground
01:09:43spooned it up
01:09:45well it shouldn't make any difference but he has played well
01:09:48he's played very very well
01:09:50Ian Bell gone for 69
01:09:52it's 281
01:09:53well, Collingwood is it then on striker's end
01:10:00the batsman crossed
01:10:01Andrew Strauss on strike
01:10:05and that's two wickets in two balls
01:10:09now, will Andrew Strauss review this? I think he will
01:10:14it'll be interesting because
01:10:15did the angle come in?
01:10:20is it done too much?
01:10:22slanted in
01:10:22we'll have to wait and see
01:10:26now let's have a look
01:10:28that's okay
01:10:37oh that looks good
01:10:39that looks good
01:10:40he's not got any pat on it
01:10:42it's a full full length delivery
01:10:44hitting the back foot
01:10:46and would have crashed into middle and leg
01:10:49now this will be a big decision
01:10:52for India
01:10:52Strauss has to depart
01:10:54after a magnificent innings of 158
01:10:58so here it gets two and two
01:11:00the crooked finger goes up
01:11:04and could there be another twist
01:11:06in the tail here
01:11:09standing ovation for the England captain
01:11:10158 it's 281 for four
01:11:19there's a serious buzz around the ground now
01:11:21Matt Pryor has come out to the middle
01:11:23Zaheer Khan on a hat-trick
01:11:27two new batsmen at the crease
01:11:29both yet to get off the mark
01:11:30here goes Zaheer
01:11:43played away safely
01:11:46and of a very good over two wickets in that and just one run conceded 281 for four
01:11:52we're looking for the big one
01:11:59and we'll get the leg by
01:12:05bounding right through his defense

01:12:57three of six balls
01:12:59all three to Zaheer
01:13:08chipset in the gap it's not quite timed it should get two
01:13:11I think one of these two batsmen will have to take the risk because they're still batting power play
01:13:20spinner on now Harpajan
01:13:25that's up in the air
01:13:27it's Reiner coming underneath it
01:13:30he takes it easily

01:13:46you can see the spectators rejoicing
01:13:49the Indian fielders
01:13:51there in cloud nine
01:13:54it's Pryor who has to depart
01:13:57well he's gone for the big one
01:13:58he's just skied it
01:13:58it's gone a long way up
01:14:00Reiner

01:14:18and even Munaf Patel sprinting now
01:14:23there's energy everywhere
01:14:24oh he's got that in the gap
01:14:31this should race away to the boundary
01:14:33so welcome boundary here for England
01:14:42that's good shot
01:14:45should get two
01:14:46the 300 comes up for England
01:14:52301
01:14:54so 38 required from 21 deliveries
01:14:58getting on
01:15:02oh he misses out there
01:15:09slower ball but Tendulkar
01:15:11doesn't feel he should have
01:15:12latched onto that
01:15:18two more
01:15:24still one ball to go in this over
01:15:27seven runs have taken
01:15:28second
01:15:32oh good fielding
01:15:34you're broadcasting the man diving away
01:15:36eight of the over it's three or five for six
01:15:44in the air straight to the field
01:15:46another one fights the dust
01:15:51and England losing their way here
01:15:57he's done well to find the one man
01:16:00in the circle behind now
01:16:01you'll feel unlucky
01:16:02Yardi
01:16:04probably some justification but
01:16:07India
01:16:08it's a slower ball
01:16:09so I didn't really have to move
01:16:14and that says it all
01:16:15the England captain
01:16:17his expression
01:16:18Yardi
01:16:19he's gone for 13 from 10
01:16:21it's 307 for seven
01:16:24this is the over
01:16:24if England have to make a mark
01:16:27or make a move
01:16:30and Tony is fully aware of that
01:16:32it's uh
01:16:33there was choice was there between
01:16:35Pathan and Yuvraj Singh
01:16:36I think he's made the right choice
01:16:38going for the specialist bowler who's got variety
01:16:46that's six
01:16:49flat
01:16:49it went flat as a tank
01:16:52and it's cleared the boundary
01:17:02well struck
01:17:03six ball
01:17:05so this game's still alive
01:17:08the game's still alive
01:17:10Balder
01:17:11bang on target
01:17:14Breslin misses
01:17:15Chandler hits
01:17:18drama continues here at the Chinnaswamy stadium
01:17:23brave little effort comes to an end
01:17:25some quicker flatter ball
01:17:28Chandler enjoys it
01:17:30but he went for 15 England
01:17:32got a chance Breslin's little cameo comes to an end
01:17:3414 from nine balls
01:17:36325 for eight
01:17:42that's one will want two
01:17:44and we'll get it
01:17:48he's got to keep as much of the strike as possible
01:17:50again change of pace he does it well
01:18:01that's in the air and a six what a hit
01:18:05what a hit that is
01:18:07he couldn't have chosen a better spot you can see Strauss is animated there
01:18:11silence in the crowd five from three
01:18:17misses
01:18:18Tony misses as well
01:18:20that's good running very good running
01:18:22there goes
01:18:25Munaf Patel it's sworn on strike
01:18:27gives the charge
01:18:29won't get the boundary two is the call
01:18:33and they'll get it
01:18:35one ball to go England need one run to tie two runs to win
01:18:38what a match
01:18:42now what do they do
01:18:49what a match 337
01:18:52through eight at the moment
01:18:54target was 339
01:18:56here goes Munaf final goal of the game
01:19:01good fielding
01:19:03it's a tie
01:19:05a tremendous contest
01:19:06and one would have to say at the end of it all
01:19:10the ideal result you can see smiles on the faces
01:19:13no team deserved to lose
01:19:14after scoring that many runs
01:19:16England should have won it with eight overs to go
01:19:19but at the end of it all the scores tied
01:19:21England 338 for eight
01:19:24well well well when they tell me that 50 over cricket hasn't got any place in the world schedule
01:19:30think again
01:19:32England will be relieved because they should have won it
01:19:34they then lost it and then they got up they tied it
01:19:37India a little bit to think about
01:19:40but all in all a great advert for the game of cricket
01:19:46well what an incredible match that was
01:19:49Andrew Strauss led the way with a career best 158
01:19:52ably supported by Ian Bell 69 in 71 balls
01:19:56England got themselves into a position from which they should have won
01:20:00but a batting power play collapse set the nerves jangling
01:20:03and despite some lusty blows from the tail
01:20:06the game ended in only the fourth ever tie in world cup history
01:20:11the game looked up for India until Zahir Khan produced some of his magic and took three quick wickets
01:20:16but despite that India still have questions to answer over the makeup of their bowling attack
01:20:22well you could argue that both sides will be disappointed with the tie but in the end it was
01:20:26probably the fairest result a great advert for the 50 over game and it certainly brought the tournament alive
01:20:34so it means India and England top the table both unbeaten after two games
01:20:40Nasser Hussain asked the two captains whether they were happy with the result at the presentation
01:20:44yes and no I suppose the answer we're in a great position to win the game after 41 42 overs
01:20:52we had a shocking power play and then from that stage onwards India were favourites to win the game so
01:20:59all credit to Graham Swan and Ajmar Shazad for getting us a tie in the end there
01:21:04ultimately it's just been a great game of cricket there's no doubt about it you know a great advert for
01:21:07the 50 over format you know we're in some ways we're happy in some ways we're distraught but you
01:21:14know a great game of cricket do you regret taking that batting power play when you did could you have
01:21:19waited right to the end did it bring India back into the game well it did but you know you back yourself
01:21:24to play better than that you know we lost obviously myself and Belly straight away which is the last
01:21:29thing we wanted and then that puts a lot of pressure on the batsmen coming in so look we're in some ways
01:21:35disappointed in some ways you know privileged to have played in a game like that the way they were
01:21:39going I think they got off to a very good start I think Andrew batted really well and there was a
01:21:44time I think you know where it seemed as if they'll chase the score in 48 or 49 overs so at the end of
01:21:48the day happy with the tie because I think it may reflect in that point table as a win how worried were
01:21:54you about that England performance when were you getting really worried well you know I think their
01:21:58partnership with just two wickets down and the way you know both the batsmen were batting I think it
01:22:02it was getting pretty difficult for the bowlers unless Zach came in boulder real good spell and
01:22:06brought us back into the game otherwise you know this game would have been wrapped by 48 overs
01:22:11did you think 338 was enough well I think so because you know if 338 is not enough you know
01:22:17then every game will have to look to score maybe 350 or 360 or runs which I think you know is difficult
01:22:22because it was a completely different bowling attack you know when you played the first game it was a
01:22:26different bowling attack the wicket was different but you know if every time you have to score 350 or 360
01:22:31or runs there will come a time in the tournament when it will get tough for you
