JP and BMitch ask London Fletcher what he is looking forward to seeing from the linebackers in the Commanders first preseason game.
Transcript
00:00I mean, Bobby and Lou Vu are so established, right?
00:02I mean, those dudes are entrenched.
00:04There's no questions about their ability or their role.
00:07A young player we've all been excited about is Jordan McGee.
00:11He was really good last camp, and then he had the injury,
00:14and it kind of dogged him for the rest of his rookie season.
00:18There was a lot of excitement again for McGee,
00:20and then he didn't make the trip, right?
00:22Like, he missed a couple practices, didn't make this trip.
00:25And it kind of – I mean, this is a cutthroat-ass business.
00:28It's kind of opened the door for Medrano to get more reps.
00:32Medrano, he's a rookie, but he can cover, man.
00:34He's got real speed.
00:36What do you think about kind of that next tier of linebackers for Washington?
00:41Well, you hate to see that Jordan is injured
00:44and not able to get those practices to practice yesterday
00:48and also be able to play this preseason game
00:51because as a young player, you want to get as many reps as possible,
00:55and you mentioned him dealing with the injury a season ago.
00:58But for Kay Medrano, this is an opportunity for him to showcase himself
01:03and put himself in a mix to be maybe that third linebacker
01:08or whether they view him as a hybrid linebacker safety type of role.
01:14So, you just – you go out and you take advantage of the situation that you're given.
01:20Hopefully, McGee is not a long-term injury or something
01:23that he can get back on the field as quickly as possible.
01:26But I definitely want to see Medrano play.
