00:00Wolves are gearing up for a fresh Premier League campaign
00:05and with Vitor Pereira set for his first full season in charge
00:09there's a growing sense of direction at Molineux
00:12Pereira renowned for his tactical acumen
00:15has quickly stamped his authority on the squad
00:18but in discipline with an attacking intent
00:21that has resonated both on the pitch and in the stands
00:24this summer hasn't been about lavish spending
00:28recruitment has been calculated
00:31reflecting the club's realistic budget
00:33while keeping an eye firmly on long-term stability
00:36and squad evolution
00:37for more perspective on Wolves' preparations
00:40we spoke to Charlie Haffenden of Birmingham World
00:43who believes optimism is quietly building
00:46for what could be a significant season
00:48in the club's recent history
00:50Charlie, I'm Wolves and obviously
00:55Furlopers coming into the door
00:57and obviously Mateus Cunha leaving for Manchester United
01:01as well as Ryan Etnori to Manchester City
01:03two key players over the last couple of seasons
01:06especially last season
01:08when they were really, really struggling down
01:10around the bottom at Christmas
01:12and the revival under Vitor Pereira was no secret
01:16and then Etnori, Cunha, incredible figures in that team
01:19so when you do lose some key figures like that
01:23it is important to replace them
01:24and it seems like Wolves are maybe starting to actually reinvest this summer
01:28obviously we've got to wait to the back end of June
01:31for the PSR deadline
01:33but then Wolves fans are going to be hopeful that July
01:36and maybe later in the summer
01:38that some more business can be done
01:40and they can get a few more signings over the line
01:42because reinvestment is so important at the top level
01:45and it's something they really haven't done
01:47because they've sold the likes of Ruben Neves for high fees
01:51Pedro Neto as well to name a few
01:53and they just haven't reinvested
01:55and it's really cost them over the last couple of seasons
01:57Yeah, I think it's been a frustration hasn't it
02:00amongst the Molyneux fan base
02:02that just, why can't you reinvest this money?
02:04We've brought in so much
02:05PSR isn't quite as much of a concern as it was
02:08just reinvest, reinvest
02:10and finally they are doing that as you say
02:12Fir Lopez as well
02:13£19.5 million
02:14it's a decent amount of money
02:16enough that fans can be content
02:18but not too much where it feels a huge risk
02:21and of course quite a relatively unproven talent
02:24but he was amongst La Liga's best dribblers last season
02:27despite his lack of minutes
02:28but pretty exciting in that Celta Vigo team
02:31looking like he might be able to push on
02:33to be a star player for them
02:35of course won't be anymore
02:36because he has gone to Wolves
02:38he's represented by just a few
02:40who are the company that George Mendes works with
02:42of course Wolves have had a great relationship
02:45with George Mendes over the years
02:46really benefiting from that
02:48signing players potentially
02:49who would otherwise be out of their reach
02:51Fir Lopez I don't think is one of those necessarily
02:54he's not a big name just yet
02:55but Wolves looking to tap into that potential
02:57got a great left foot
02:59likes to take on defenders
03:00quite creative as well
03:01could play on the right wing
03:03or could play as a bit of a shadow striker
03:04a bit like Mateus Cunha did
03:05I think could be a good signing
03:07but of course he waits to be seen
03:09just how he'll do in the Premier League
03:10Yeah and obviously those two players
03:13going out the door
03:14who do you feel is now
03:15the most important player at Wolves
03:17because you know
03:18we saw the welcome of Emmanuel Agbedou
03:22he made a massive difference
03:23when he came through the door in January
03:25and then Andre and Gio Gomez
03:27the two Brazilians in the midfield
03:29you know one of the best partnerships in the league
03:31it has to be said on their day
03:32those that sort of standouts now
03:35they've obviously got a few young players as well
03:37Pedro Lima
03:38are we going to see him get his chance
03:40early 18 at right back
03:41who sort of stands out
03:44you look at your with Sean Larson as well
03:4614 Premier League goals
03:47that certainly can't be ignored
03:49by other fans across the Premier League
03:52I'd have to agree with the names
03:54that you've mentioned
03:55Agbedou signing in the winter
03:56just saw how much of an impact he had
03:58and how much Wolves defence
04:00how much more solid it became
04:02as soon as he joined the club
04:03they were lacking that kind of
04:05fairly quick but strong
04:07and dominant player in the air
04:08Agbedou
04:09all of those things in abundance
04:11I think him
04:11alongside Jozen Mosquera
04:13once he's back from injury
04:14could be a decent partnership
04:16and of course Toti Gomez
04:17on the left of that three as well
04:19Gio Gomez and Andre
04:21as a midfield partnership
04:22both still very young players
04:24and of course both being Brazilian
04:25in that international set up together
04:27they have more time
04:28even during international breaks
04:29to build on that partnership
04:30Jürgen Strand-Larsen
04:32I was worried you weren't going to mention him
04:33scoring quite a few goals
04:35I think he surpassed
04:36what Raul Jimenez managed
04:38in his first season at Wolves
04:39so that's really promising indeed
04:41of course coming in permanently
04:42from Celta
