Wolves’ positive changes since Vitor Pereira took charge

A look at some positives for Wolves.

00:00Charlie, looking at Wolves and in terms of Vitor Pereira and his impact, now you probably

00:06can look at the sort of stage that we're at with him being the new manager and maybe sort

00:10of look to judge him a little bit and the way he's gone about things at Wolves. I mean,

00:15you know, we mentioned before the Mateus Cunha situation where it sort of took a massive

00:19turn and there was attitude problems and then suddenly he puts a couple of fantastic performances

00:25in and he signs a new deal, albeit with that with that release clause. But it seems like

00:29he's really sort of grabbed the bull by the horns in terms of this job at Molyneux. It's

00:34one of them where Geoff Sheehan has looked to a saviour manager again, like they did

00:39with with Julian Lopetegui just a season or so ago. What have you sort of taken from Vitor

00:45Pereira's time so far? And from what you've seen, I mean, you've not been covering Wolves

00:49too long, but you've seen an array of managers in the dugout.

00:53I certainly have seen an array of managers and there's been such a contrast between them

00:58all really in the mood, in the stadium. I think with Pereira, even though the results

01:02haven't quite been there since the very start, the performances have. Maybe the Newcastle

01:07defeat 3-0, the Forest one as well 3-0, actually kind of played all right in that Forest game

01:12in fairness, so the performance was still there. But certainly the other defeats have

01:16been narrowly by one goal against Liverpool at Anfield. First half, not good at all, so

01:21many mistakes. But that second half, Wolves were the first team to stop Liverpool from

01:25having a shot in the second half of the game at Anfield since 2003. Just put that into

01:30context when Wolves have been one of the worst teams defensively in the Premier League this

01:34season. To go to Anfield and do that, especially after all the mistakes in that first half

01:38from the defenders, Toti Gomez and Emmanuel Agbadoo, coming out in that second half, such

01:43a great response, I think was really spirited and they can take confidence from that. No

01:47points at all from Anfield, but they could have very much got one on that day and probably

01:52deserved to, in fairness.

01:53Yes, and obviously Wolves have drawn Bournemouth away in the FA Cup now. Obviously, Bournemouth

01:59is an incredibly tough place to go to and Wolves have a love affair with the FA Cup

02:03over the last couple of seasons. Obviously, last season it sort of started Gary O'Neill's

02:08downfall maybe, missing out very, very late on against Coventry with that trip to Wembley.

02:14What do you sort of take from the draw and how Wolves fans will be feeling going down

02:18to an incredibly tough place to go to this season? Bournemouth have been one of the standout

02:23teams in the league, you'd say?

02:25I think, yes, if you look at it on previous years, you'd think Bournemouth away, we'll

02:29take that. It's a winnable game. Either way, 50-50. It's definitely not 50-50 this year.

02:35The way Iriola has got Bournemouth playing is incredible. Obviously, potentially fighting

02:40for Champions League, Europa League or Europa Conference League football as well. Wolves

02:44have to be at their very best to go and get a result. But we have seen Bournemouth falter

02:48at times this season, not been at their best, sometimes not quite clinical enough. Sometimes

02:53in the transition phase, they can be a little bit open as well. So Wolves, if they can be

02:57on their best and with Matthias Kuhnje firing on the counter-attack, who knows what can

03:01happen and then potentially another quarterfinal on the cards.
