00:00We're driving into South Padre Island, Texas, an ecologically pretty amazing place that's
00:10basically a sandbar that popped up a hundred thousand years ago or so. So you have these
00:15varied ecosystems all within the mile-wide island. You have these barren beaches and
00:23then you have some floor dunes with light vegetation and then you have these heavily
00:28vegetated dunes behind them. Then it opens up into these vegetative salt flats on the
00:34bay side of the island and that is just bird heaven and sea turtle heaven.
00:41South Padre Island is where randy sea turtles go on spring break to meet other randy sea turtles.
