00:00In this video, I'm going to show you how to play the Begagen guitar, also known as Ektara or Goppachand, depending on where you're from.

00:07So basically, it's made from a half a coconut shell. It has a skin on the bottom, as you can see.

00:15It has a bamboo tube, some bamboo at the side, and this is an E-string.

00:22So the way you play it is you pluck this E-string.

00:26And what you can do, you can create a really cool pitch-bending sound.

00:34So it's more of a sound effect sort of instrument.

00:37So you pluck it and...

00:40You can squeeze the neck to adjust the sound and adjust the pitch-bend.

00:45So you can do it very slowly.

00:50Which is very cool for video editing and things like that.

00:56So you can adjust how much you do it, obviously.

01:01If you want a bit more control, you can change the tuning here.

01:04So this loosens the string.

01:09And you still get the same effect if you squeeze the neck of the instrument.

01:15And you can also adjust the tuning whilst you're playing.

01:18And as you become more comfortable with it, you can adjust the tuning, pluck, and bend the pitch.

01:33Let's have a go now.

01:34It kind of reminds me of those, like, classic cartoon, like, Looney Tune cartoons.

01:44You know, when one of the characters gets hits in the face with a frying pan or something, it's like...

01:51It is actually like that.
