00:00In this video, I'm going to show you how to play the African log drum, also known as a crin drum.
00:06This one is made by hand in Mali, Africa.
00:10It's made from guenny wood, which looks very similar to shisham.
00:14And basically, this one has three slits, slit here, slit here, slit here, and two notes.
00:21You can play any note, this one or that one, and it comes with two sticks.
00:26And this is roughly how it sounds.
00:27I'm not an expert with this instrument, but here it goes.
00:50So basically, when you play this instrument, because it's hollow, you kind of create your own pattern,
00:56and you want to do it around the middle.
01:01And then you can go to the edge.
01:05The interesting thing about this instrument is everyone plays it differently.
01:09It doesn't matter where you're from, you probably have a different rhythm in your head,
01:12something that you want to play, and it just comes out.
01:15But you can experiment with different sounds.
01:17And, you know, if you want to, you can turn it and use the different tone.
01:22So let's turn that like that.
01:24And...
01:24When you hit the log drum, you want to aim to use this much of the drumstick.
01:40Anyway, this was a highly requested video, and this is the log drum.
01:45If you want to check it out, I will put a link in the description.
