00:00Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim today said it was not unusual for VIPs to be flagged with travel control orders.

00:09Anwar said that he himself was subject to such monitoring.

00:14He was responding to Terengganu Menteri Besar Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar,

00:18who yesterday asked why he had been flagged as a person of risk in the country's border control system.

00:23He claimed that all of his movements were under complete, stealthy and continuous surveillance under the TCO designation.

00:33Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail later played down some serious complaints,

00:38saying there was no need to spy on him given his security detail as Menteri Besar.

00:44Saifuddin also said he was personally listed for surveillance from 2000 to 2004

00:49and considered it part of the authorities' duty in carrying out their responsibilities.

00:55He said all VVIPs in the country were constantly under surveillance for security reasons

01:00and that Samsuri was no exception.
