00:00The West Indies are in Group C and play their opener on Saturday against Scotland in Kolkata.
00:23Former international cricketer Derek Murray says, regardless of the 15-man squad picked,
00:27the West Indies have not been consistent over the years.
00:31We have the team that we have.
00:34Again, it's players who have been in and around the outfit for a while,
00:41but not really inspired us with the confidence that they will emerge victorious at the end.
00:49Bangladesh chose not to play in India due to security concerns,
00:52which is why they were replaced by the Scots.
00:55Murray says, even though that should make it easier for the Windies in the group stage,
00:59he is not taking any team for granted.
01:01The West Indies, as we know, is a team that can beat anybody,
01:07but the alternative is also true, that they can lose to any one of the teams.
01:12So while you have Scotland, Nepal, Italy in the group with us,
01:20and you think that that should give them opportunities to win, win convincingly,
01:27and grow in confidence for the more difficult matches that will come later on,
01:32you just can't be sure.
01:35The big question is, can the West Indies lift the World Cup trophy?
01:38The two-time ODI World Cup winner with the West Indies is just hoping for the best.
01:42On current form, you know, not logical to think of the West Indies being in the semi-final or the final,
01:54but you're given hope by the fact that we can beat any and every team in the tournament.
02:00So yes, as a West Indian, I am hoping that we will come out and undo all the poor form that has gone before
02:13and be able to take our place in the semi-finals and final,
02:19and we have an equal chance of winning those.
02:22So good luck to the team.
02:25The men in Maroon won the T20 World Cup in 2012 and 2016.
