00:00Law enforcement agencies intensified their anti-crime operations this week under emergency powers regulations, leading to a series of arrests and seizures across the country.
00:11This includes teen suspects involved in serious violent crimes, firearms recovery, cannabis field destruction and multiple DUI and traffic-related arrests.
00:22Starting with Barakpur raids, a pre-dawn operation on Saturday resulted in the arrest of seven suspects, including five teenagers connected to a disturbing wave of home invasions and sexual assaults in the Komoto South area.
00:36Police say the raids were aimed at dismantling criminal groups believed to be exploiting residential areas during curfew hours.
00:44Among those arrested were a 14-year-old student, a 15-year-old found in possession of ammunition, a 16-year-old student, a 17-year-old also linked to illegal weapons, three adult males aged 30, 42 and 45, the latter two facing firearm and ammunition possession charges.
01:04During the raids, officers seized a 9mm magazine with three live rounds and two spent shell casings, indicating links to previous reported incidents.
01:15Moving now to DUI operations, police conducted DUI and traffic enforcement exercises from Thursday to Friday along major highways.
01:24Out of the 159 breathalyzer tests, 16 individuals were arrested for driving under the influence.
01:31Their blood alcohol levels ranged from 48 milligrams to a staggering 117 per 100 milliliters, well over the legal limit.
01:42Notably, police say one of the individuals arrested was a suspended police officer who recorded a blood alcohol concentration of 91 per 100 milliliters.
01:54In addition, over 60 fixed penalty notices were issued for traffic violations, including the use of mobile devices while driving, defective tires, failure to wear seatbelts, driving with expired inspection certificates.

02:10The TTP has dismantled a cannabis plantation in Castara, Tobago, containing 250 mature plants, along with a nearby drying rack and camp area, all of which were destroyed on site.
02:22In Laventil, an M4 assault rifle with 26 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition were recovered in an abandoned structure.
02:32Additional key fines and arrests include in Kelly Village, a 38-year-old male suspect was arrested at a block party with a concealed handgun.
02:41In Belmont, 110 grams of cannabis was found hidden inside a concrete block.
02:46In Monrepo, a 34-year-old man was held for 120 grams of cannabis and a 17-year-old detained in connection with a robbery.
02:55In El Socorro, an AR-15 rifle wrapped in cling film and hidden behind, a discarded sofa was recovered.
03:02In Penal, a suspect was caught with a Beretta pistol and ammunition.
03:06In Toko, a man was arrested with 81.3 grams of cannabis and in eastern Trinidad, four were arrested in separate incidents involving ammunition, larceny and resisting arrest.
03:17The TTPS says these operations are not a one-off but part of an aggressive ongoing campaign to suppress serious crime, dismantle criminal networks and restore public confidence.
03:28Authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity as investigations continue and charges are expected in several of the cases.
