00:01Newmarket is known as the headquarters of horse racing and for good reason as
00:05it is steeped in racing history as well as being home to some 3,000 racehorses
00:10and having some of the most influential stud farms residing in its surrounding
00:15villages. Discover Newmarket was set up 10 years ago to enable people to come
00:19and see how it works behind the scenes of the racing yards and stud farms so as
00:25it is celebrating 10 years TDN decided to go along on one of the tours and
00:29find out all about it. Discover Newmarket is a company that started in 2015 and it
00:40was decided by I think Amy Starkey from the racecourse to amalgamate all the tour
00:46companies in the town. Anything to do with racing Discover Newmarket can arrange it.
00:51We have standard tours on Friday, Saturday and Sundays, bank holiday Mondays and the
00:58public can just ring up and book a tour. If you want a private tour you still ring
01:05up Discover Newmarket and they will arrange whatever tour you want. We do tours of the
01:11jockey club rooms, gallop tours, tours of the national stud, tours to stables, everything
01:18to do with racing we do. We'd start early sometimes seven o'clock and we would go
01:25onto the gallops to watch the horses exercise. We would then go back to a stable yard and
01:31be taken around the stable yard, introduced to the horses and explain everything that
01:37goes on in a racing yard. We have Charlie Fellows, the Burkitts at Exning, William Knight,
01:45Stuart Williams, Ray Guest. Most of the stables will be looking after us. We have certain times
01:53of the year where we can go to John Costons and to Syed Bin Saroj and Charlie Appleby.
02:01Some people who know nothing about racing at all and they learn a lot and you've got the
02:07people who follow racing avidly and it is a total mixture. Look on the website, Discover Newmarket

02:29I'd like to do. Newmarket is the headquarters of racing throughout the world, not just in
02:35England and it is the perfect place to see how horses are trained.
