00:00Greetings, friends. Today we celebrate St. Teresa of Calcutta, hosted by A Blessed Call to Love.
00:09St. Teresa of Calcutta, commonly known as Mother Teresa, was born on August 26, 1910, in Macedonia.
00:18At 18, she joined the Sisters of Loretto and traveled to Ireland, then India, where she began teaching in Calcutta.
00:25In 1950, she founded the Missionaries of Charity, dedicated to caring for those society abandoned, the sick, homeless, and dying.
00:36She and her sisters lived in radical poverty, trusting in divine providence for all their needs.
00:42Mother Teresa's work expanded globally, opening homes for the poor and sick in many countries.
00:49Her unwavering faith, humility, and kindness earned her worldwide admiration.
00:55In 1979, she was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for her humanitarian efforts, though she accepted it in the name of the poor.
01:04Mother Teresa died on September 5, 1937.
01:08But her legacy of charity lives on through the Missionaries of Charity, which continue to serve in over a hundred countries.
01:15She was canonized by Pope Francis on September 4, 2016.
01:19Until we meet again, God bless you.
