00:02The Precious Blood

00:04A refuge for the weak and defenseless.

00:07The world can be a harsh place for the vulnerable.

00:10Whether it is the innocent child,

00:13the weary parent,

00:15the lonely elder,

00:16or the sinner,

00:17weighed down by guilt.

00:19All of us know what it is like to feel small and defenseless.

00:23But the Precious Blood of Jesus

00:26is a place of refuge.

00:28It is not just a sign of sacrifice.

00:31It is a shield, a sanctuary,

00:34a wellspring of courage.

00:36The blood that flowed from Calvary cries out with a voice stronger than fear

00:41and gentler than the fiercest storm.

00:44It says,

00:45You are not alone.

00:47I have claimed you.

00:48I will protect you.

00:50In moments of temptation,

00:52spiritual attack,

00:54or emotional breakdown,

00:56we can call upon the blood of Jesus as our covering.

01:00When everything around us feels unstable,

01:03His blood is firm.

01:05When sin seems to speak louder than grace,

01:08His blood answers with forgiveness.

01:11When we are spiritually exhausted,

01:13His blood gives life.

01:15It is more than a symbol.

01:17It is the very price of our adoption as sons and daughters of God.

01:22And it remains alive in the Eucharist,

01:24pulsing with the same love that flowed from the cross.

01:28To take refuge in the blood of Jesus

01:31is not to run away from the world,

01:33but to stand in it with a greater strength.

01:36It is to walk with the confidence that no matter the threats,

01:40spiritual or physical,

01:42nothing has power over those marked by the blood of the Lamb.

01:46Like the Israelites who were protected by the blood on their doors,

01:50we are sealed by something infinitely greater,

01:53the blood of God Himself.

01:56Saint John Bosco knew this strength of divine refuge,

02:00especially in his mission to care for poor and troubled boys

02:04in the streets of 19th century Turin.

02:07Surrounded by poverty, violence and indifference,

02:11Don Bosco placed his entire work under the protection of Jesus and Mary.

02:17He frequently invoked the precious blood in prayer,

02:20especially when spiritual battles threatened his mission.

02:24Despite threats, slander, and even assassination attempts,

02:28he remained fearless,

02:30not because he was powerful,

02:32but because he trusted in divine protection.

02:35He believed deeply that souls, especially young ones,

02:39were worth fighting for,

02:41and that the blood of Christ would be his strength.

02:44Let us, like Don Bosco,

02:47invoke the blood of Christ,

02:49not only for our own protection,

02:52but for those most vulnerable,

02:54children,

02:55the lost,

02:56the weary,

02:57the tempted.

02:59The precious blood is not only our shelter,

03:02it is the weapon of divine love against all evil.

03:06Let us pray.

03:08Jesus, my refuge and defender,

03:12I place myself and all those I love beneath the shelter of your precious blood.

03:18Cover the weak,

03:19protect the innocent,

03:21rescue the fallen.

03:23Give me courage when I'm afraid,

03:25and mercy when I fall.

03:27Through the intercession of St. John Bosco,

03:31who trusted in your saving blood for the salvation of the young,

03:35make me a guardian of souls,

03:37and a witness to your unfailing love.

03:40Amen.
