Transcript
00:00Hello there and a very good evening to you on this Wednesday evening.
00:03Expect some heavy weather coming towards central and southern parts of England and Wales through the next 24 hours.
00:09A thunderstorm warning has been issued for southern counties of England.
00:13All courtesy of this feature here, running down from the Republic of Ireland into Thursday, bringing more clouds.
00:18Some showery bursts of rain turning heavy and thundery with lightning as well as hail.
00:23Now this front here could bring some showers to eastern counties on Friday.
00:27But notice a ridge extending in from the southwest.
00:31So for most, Friday and Saturday look fine and mostly dry, feeling warm in any sunshine before all change into Sunday.
00:39This weather front here will introduce more cloud outbreaks of rain.
00:43And this rain will skirt down towards more central and southern areas through Sunday and into Monday.
00:48For the time being, a fair amount of cloud around through evening time.
00:51Still some showery rain across northern parts of Scotland, whereas further south and west, notice this feature here.
00:58This is the cloud outbreaks of rain through the early hours of the morning.
01:01You could see one or two heavier pulses across Wales as well as the West Midlands, West Country.
01:07Now overnight, we'll see clearer skies across northern England.
01:10Quite a breeze coming in across the far north and west of Scotland.
01:13There's still that low cloud shrouding the mountains here.
01:17Temperatures holding up, in fact muggy to start the day across more southern counties and turning very warm with some sunshine.
01:23But also some heavy, thundery downpours.
01:27Here are those showers extending from the Midlands, Mid Wales, down towards central southern England, the M4 Corridor, anywhere from Suffolk through to Gloucestershire.
01:35Frequent lightning and hail, torrential downpours causing problems on the roads through into Thursday rush hour.
01:43So that's the yellow warning for thunderstorms which extends till 9pm on Thursday.
01:48Through the morning though, we could see some heavy rain just skirting Aberdeenshire before it clears.
01:53Showers elsewhere for Scotland and a few showers running in across northern Ireland with a breeze coming in from the northwest.
01:59So cool along the north coast with some sunshine coming through.
02:02By lunchtime, really, this is when the showers will develop and turn heavy as well as thundery.
02:09Further north, you'll see some fine weather.
02:12Places such as Lincolnshire, some sunshine coming through.
02:15But this feature here will always bring the chance of one or two light showers as we head through the day across southern parts of Scotland, north east England as well.
02:23Through the afternoon, any rain across Shetland will tend to slide away, perhaps just clipping Orkney for a time.
02:31But a stronger wind here and that will clip Aberdeenshire.
02:34Through the afternoon then, you can pick up on these heavy thundery downpours across southern counties.
02:39But a better end to the day for northern Ireland, western Scotland, Wales.
02:42That's where you'll see some fine weather, if not some sunshine, as temperatures arrive around 20 across the central belt of Scotland.
02:48But muggy in the south, 23 to 25 degrees Celsius and a bit of a breeze along this east coast.
02:54You'll see some showers here through Thursday evening and those thunderstorms will rumble on for a time before clearing.
03:00Overnight, some clearer skies across many areas, but still those showers across the far north as well as the west.
03:06And this weather front here will bring that stronger wind and perhaps just more cloud just skirting the far north east of Scotland into Friday morning.
03:13Friday, watch out for some showers across eastern counties, first thing.
03:17The cloud will build through the middle part of the day, a few light showers across Scotland as well.
03:21But generally speaking, most places will have a dry day, a fine day, with some sunny spells coming through during the afternoon.
03:29Here are your temperatures.
03:29Well, along this east coast, probably 18 or 19 inland, 21 degrees Celsius, 18 or 19 for Northern Ireland, but 20 or 21 for the central belt of Scotland, southern parts of England, seeing a 23.
03:42Saturday looks mostly fine and dry with some sunshine, warm in that brighter weather as well, 22 to 24 degrees Celsius.
03:50But as you saw on that chart, a band of cloud and rain will extend from the northwest down towards more central and southwestern parts through the day.
03:58Hanging on to some drier weather until much later on into the evening time.
04:02Wherever you are, take care and I'll see you again soon.
