Hello there, welcome to your Tuesday evening weather update from the Met Office.
00:04
Through the next 24 hours, we're seeing a fair amount of clouds, some brighter breaks.
00:08
At the same time, there will be a little rain and drizzle around, even some showers.
00:12
But if you cast your eye down towards the southeast of Europe, where we've seen extreme heat through the last week,
00:18
good news for locals as well as tourists, that heat is gradually waning here.
00:23
High pressure extends from the Atlantic towards the UK through the next few days,
00:27
but a weather front on Thursday could trigger some heavy showers,
00:30
and the air turns a lot more humid, particularly across central and southern areas.
00:34
But Friday into Saturday, fairly fine conditions.
00:38
For the time being, you may run into some patchy rain, one or two showers if you're heading out and about.
00:44
There's a lot of cloud overnight, and that cloud will be low, and what that means, poor visibility,
00:49
particularly over the hills and mountains as well as the moors.
00:52
And through the night, yet again, some dampness in the air,
00:55
and those showers could just come and go across central and eastern areas.
00:59
It's going to be a mild night, warm for some towards the south,
01:02
and quite a murky start to the day come Wednesday morning.
01:06
Now, if you are stepping out first thing on Wednesday,
01:09
again, there could be spits and spots of rain in the wind.
01:13
For most, it's a dry start, just a lot of cloud.
01:15
But the cloud will break at times through the morning into the afternoon,
01:19
particularly across central and eastern areas.
01:20
At the same time, by lunchtime, you'll see some patchy rain for Northern Ireland.
01:24
It will clear, brighter skies to follow as that rain and drizzle just arrives across the Western Isles.
01:30
Notice this slitherous sunshine just extending down from central Belle to Scotland,
01:34
northern England towards Wales and the West Country.
01:37
Further east, yet again, one or two light showers to end the day,
01:40
and a fair amount of cloud here.
01:42
But some brighter skies across Orkney as well as Shetland.
01:46
Temperatures then will feel warm, actually, in any brighter parts of the day
01:51
and in any sunshine through the afternoon.
01:54
23 or 24 will be your high.
01:57
Now, through Wednesday evening and overnight, some clearer skies yet again.
02:01
But notice this weather front here.
02:03
This is going to slide down from Northern Ireland with some outbreaks of rain,
02:07
clipping the far southwest of Scotland,
02:09
eventually reaching Wales as well as the West Country into the early hours of Thursday morning.
02:13
Starry skies across eastern counties and still some dampness in the air
02:17
with one or two showery bursts across the north as well as the West of Scotland.
02:22
Now, through the morning, notice we'll see some showers develop across Wales
02:26
as well as central southern England.
02:27
They'll migrate their way eastwards as well,
02:29
and they could turn heavy with the risk of thunder.
02:33
So we could see some impactful weather associated with a heavy downpour here.
02:37
They'll be fairly scattered, but it's worth noting there could be
02:40
some wet weather around through Thursday afternoon if you are travelling elsewhere.
02:44
Some brighter skies, a few showers around, but it will feel warm.
02:48
So temperatures through the afternoon on Thursday.
02:51
Across Scotland and Northern Ireland, around 18 to 20 degrees Celsius.
02:55
Further south across Wales, down towards the southeast,
02:58
we're likely to see probably 24 to 26.
03:01
So feeling very warm in any brighter breaks,
03:03
but watch out for those heavy downpours.
03:06
Now, as we head through Thursday evening and overnight,
03:10
those showers continue for a time before they gradually ease.
03:14
And what that means for Friday, there will be a few showers,
03:18
particularly from the East Midlands, East Anglia,
03:20
down towards the southeast.
03:21
Elsewhere, some fine weather, a mix of cloud and sunshine.
03:25
A similar situation into Saturday, probably the best day of the week,
03:28
where we'll see mostly dry conditions
03:30
and some warm, brighter breaks coming through.
03:33
I'll see you later.
03:33
I'll see you later.
