01:29And Chucky, you know, Chucky talked to us in his last fight how he had moved to Arizona to train with his coach out there.
01:37His coach moved out there.
01:38And how important that was, those rounds, the sparring, the isolation, right?
01:46And how he grew as a person.
01:49And regardless of what happened in his last fight, those skills, that progress, that's not for nothing.
01:56And it may not have shown up as best as he wanted it to in his last fight, but it certainly is something he will continue to build on.

02:04He's doing a great job of fighting on the outside, figuring out his range and positioning here.

02:15And I think that's something that any young fighter is going to have to be prepared for throughout their career.
02:23Very few people go their entire career without suffering a loss at one point or another.
02:29And you can't let that last fight hurt the fight that's in front of you.

02:33Like Kobe Bryant said, you have to have amnesia.
02:35And CJ, the realistic thing is sometimes we win and sometimes we learn.
02:39But, again, a loss, a bad performance inside of this, it does not take away from the six to eight weeks of work that you just put in.

02:48The focus and the progress that you made, it does not take away from that.
02:52And if I were to look back on my career, that was where I allowed for a bad performance or a loss to really affect my mentality.
02:59And had I have just had that, you know, laser sharp focus on the ultimate goal, regardless of what happened that night or at that point, you know, I really believe my career would have went differently.
03:11And I think, you know, you can speak to this, but, like, fighting, it's hard to process a loss in fighting because it is such a personal investment.
03:19It's a passion sort of thing.
03:21You play a stick and ball sport.
03:22You lose a game.
03:23It's whatever.
03:24You lose a fight, though.
03:26You feel like it says something about who you are.
03:28Absolutely.
03:29I mean, it hits right there in the ego, you know, because we put so much into this.
03:34We are so tied to our fighter image and the fighter that we are.
03:39And, you know, that's anybody.
03:41Anybody that cares about what they're doing and their goals, when you fall short, it certainly is going to hurt.

05:08So there's just this fight, this unspoken fight that doesn't necessarily have punches involved that is happening.

06:09Because Franco is doing a great job of coming forward, being aggressive, bringing the fight to Chucky.
06:15And, you know, that says a lot, especially to the judges.

06:21And these guys, I mean, footwork, technical movement, evasive movement, aggressive offense.
06:25They're going to need all of it tonight if they're going to want to try to take the other one out.

06:31And a variety of strikes here from both men to get this one started.

07:40What's your feel so far between Barrera and Franco?
07:44Let's take a look at some of the replay and then maybe give me a little grade on these two men.
07:49Walk us through.
07:51You know, again, this was the battle of positioning between these men.
07:55Both are very aware of their feet positioning and where they are in this fight.
07:59So they're both fighting for the advantageous position.
08:03But I thought Chucky did a great job of really establishing the range and finding the cleaner shots and keeping that distance,
08:12which is what he seems to be better at is that long range, tight, straight-down-the-pipe shots.
08:18You know, we talked about Chucky pacing defeat for the very first time.
08:27I think he's come out and really showed that that's not weighing on him at all.
08:31Sometimes, you know, when athletes drop a judge's decision, they think they need to reinvent the wheel and fight a different way.
08:38I think we're seeing the Chucky Barrera we always see, you know, sticking to his game plan and staying true to who he is.
08:44Absolutely.
08:45He's disciplined tonight.
08:46He's got great footwork.
08:49Landing the shots when he needs to and getting out of the way when he's not throwing.

10:06Do you feel either has a better read on one another?
10:10I think that Chucky really has an established understanding of his range and his distance,
10:15and he's doing a good job of staying at his range and his distance here.
10:20And Franco's having a tougher time of, he seems to be the shorter fighter, and finding his way inside.
10:27Right now he's inside.
10:29He's done a great job of creating a fight, you know, a tight fight like this.
10:33But I thought Chucky, I think Chucky is doing the much better job with the distance.
10:38A couple shots, I think, were caught there by Barrera on the back of the head, referee admonishing Franco.
10:44Oh, nice right hand.
10:50That right hand is money tonight for Chucky.
10:52But Franco is coming forward here, almost bullying, if you will, Chucky.
11:01But his hands are a little low, and that's why he's getting caught with that straight right hand.
11:07It's so clean, it's so sharp, it's hard to read, and Franco's hands are a little lax in his guard and in his position, or excuse me, in his stance.
11:17And it seems like Chucky's not upset about, you know, being on the back foot because there are counter opportunities for him.
11:24While he might be cornered or pushed up against the ropes, he's the one that comes back with some effective offense.
11:29Chucky does a great job.
11:30We've seen it in his past fights of creating traps and establishing traps for his opponents.
11:36And that's what he's doing tonight is he's lulling Franco in to that beautiful right hand.
11:46A look here in the corner of Franco.
11:49You mentioned the traps being set by Chucky.
11:52What does Franco have to do to avoid those traps and maybe change the pace?
11:55I think he utilizes jab a little bit more to create the openings.
12:01He's trying to get inside, and he's doing a great job with the actual movement of his body and just kind of pressing and forcing pressure onto Chucky.
12:10But there's no punches that are coming, so Chucky is okay with timing him, and he's doing a great job of timing him.
12:17So I think adding, and he did feint a little bit in that last round, but adding some feints, adding some jabs in there that will really help to kind of give Chucky a puzzle to solve.

12:42Let's go back to the center.
12:50Franco doing a good job of applying pressure and moving forward and pushing Chucky back.
12:59But Chucky's comfortable with fighting on the back foot, and he's doing a good job of really utilizing the ring and all of the real estate that these gentlemen have tonight and timing.
13:09His timing is spot on, Chucky's, and that right hand has landed numerous times.
13:17And I think that's a good thing to see out of Chucky, who is, yes, coming off the first loss of his career, a decision loss.
13:23Like you mentioned, he's not afraid to be on the back foot, so he's not really necessarily worried about giving the fight away by backing up,
13:30because at times backing up is exactly what you need if you can have that counterpunch the way you want it on demand,
13:37and Chucky's been doing pretty good.
13:38Yeah, you can still control the fight moving backwards if you know how to.
13:42And that's what Chucky is doing tonight, is he is controlling this fight and creating the fight that he'd like on his back foot.
13:49He wants to be right at the beginning.

14:06Franco is finding a lot of success when he gets tight, and he's fighting this tight fight here.
14:11So Chucky, you know, kind of freezing on the ropes.

14:18Chucky might be hurt.
14:20He's still firing back, but Franco got a big reaction out of one of those punches.
14:31Chucky appears to be no worse for the wear.
14:35After what we saw earlier tonight, these guys start throwing haymakers, and I get excited.
14:42Franco's fighting a smart fight.

14:49Franco is doing a good job of freezing Chucky on the ropes.
14:54He just had him in the corner.
14:55He's constantly putting pressure without really expending a lot of energy here.
15:02But Chucky does have the cleaner shots.

15:09They're sharp.
15:10They're down the pipe.
15:11I wonder what combinations, putting some combinations together for himself, what would
15:19that do for Chucky if he puts, instead of throwing one shot at a time, landing two to three punches,
15:24two to three punch combinations.
15:26Where would that take him in this fight?
15:28Halfway through this fight, scheduled for eight, four down, four to go.
15:41I think we saw Basilio Franco have a bit more success there in that round.
15:49Take a look at some of the action.

15:55You know, Franco did a good job in this round of making this a very tight fight and getting
16:01close and landing some shots coming around the guard, under the guard of Chucky and freezing
16:07Chucky.
16:07Look at Chucky's stance here.
16:09He's squared off here.
16:11Still able to throw and land.
16:12That's just, you know, his skill set.
16:14But he is frozen in that moment instead of utilizing that great footwork that we saw come from him in that first round.
16:20Yeah, I don't think that Chucky did necessarily anything different than he was earlier in the fight,
16:29but just that round backing up in the way that he was, he wasn't as successful with it as he was earlier in the fight.
16:34And we'll see if Franco can try to grab some of this momentum and keep it on his side.

16:40He stopped, you know, being on his bicycle and moving around Franco and lulling him.
16:46He stopped at the ropes instead of continuing to utilize that slide and lateral movement around the ropes.
16:52We also mentioned Herrera not throwing in ballgame back.

17:06There's a significant power difference between these two athletes.
17:09And when Chucky lets his hands go, I mean, look at the work.

17:16Those are devastating shots coming from Chucky Burrell.
17:19The posture of Franco when Chucky lands is a lot different than the posture of Chucky when Franco lands.
17:27Which is why I said in that last round, at the end of that last round, what would a multi-punch combination,
17:33what would that do for Chucky?
17:34We're seeing it right now.
17:35He's so fluid in his shots.
17:37He's powerful.
17:38Can land with his eyes closed.
17:41Putting those together and just allowing his body to move in the best way it knows how to.

19:41Franco, you know, did a good job of trying to put a stamp on that end of that round.
19:47But I thought Chucky did a great job of putting his punch combinations together, putting his hands together, and landing some devastating combinations.

19:57You know, looking at Franco, he's got an 80% knockout rate.
20:00That's a bit higher than Daniel Chucky Barrera.
20:04But I think it's Chucky that's got the power advantage in his corner tonight.

20:08He seems to have the cleaner technique, the sharper movements.
20:11He seems to have the speed advantage.
20:12And he found the positioning early on in this fight.
20:17And I thought the last round he may have kind of started to freeze.
20:22But coming and just finishing this sixth round here, I mean, he did a great job of getting right back on his movement, back to his footwork, and really found some great success in that round.

21:04And as he implements them and he gets more comfortable inside of this fight, I do wonder what that looks like, if he can pull Franco into a perfectly timed and placed right hand.

21:40You know, he's doing a good job of coming underneath the guard of Chucky.
21:44And as you see, he's not necessarily squared off.
21:47He still has a bladed stance.
21:49So he's able to really move and still have his power and his strikes and have that good stance and balance.
21:59And I think the way that Chucky is approaching this fight with Franco, he's being aggressive, but he's also making sure that he doesn't overextend.
22:07Because I mentioned Franco has a good knockout percentage.
22:10You have to be aggressive, but you can't get overly aggressive and catch something that changes the entire nut.
22:17Yes, he certainly is fighting a very smart fight tonight, Chucky is.
22:24But when he lets his hands go, when he allows for his body to just to move in the way that he's trained so many times to do, I mean, the impact is devastating.
22:35As you can see, he's got Franco on the ropes here.
22:38Oh, some nice little uppercuts coming from Franco.
22:43And Franco doesn't seem urgent to get out of this position.
22:46He doesn't initiate the clinch there and get separated, but you mentioned that.
22:50I don't think he's foreign to that world.
22:54He's somewhat comfortable there when Chucky starts to push him up against the ropes.
22:57Yes, he seems to have the shorter reach advantage in this fight here.
23:02And he has found much more success in a tight fight than he has at range with Chucky Barrera.

23:51this fight and he's he's done a great job of setting the traps and and positioning franco
23:56where he'd like to put him uh i think he's done a great job of when he throws punches and bunches
24:03of landing the more devastating shots and it's a great night for him you can see the evil intentions
24:09you can see his intensity in this fight um and you know the power there is a power difference
24:16a discrepancy between the two and chucky seems to have the advantage in the power area i mean just
24:21looking at that sequence right there with franco up against the ropes chucky's bullying him i mean
24:27literally pushing him up into the ropes he bounces back forward he's trying to utilize the environment
24:33to his advantage and franco again for the most part wasn't too uncomfortable with that scenario but
24:40see what he can do here as we start around number set
24:43i love the feints coming from chucky he's got such great in and out movement he's sharp
24:53he's locked in his body's locked in everything's aligned and moving on point the the feints are
25:00fantastic and to fire off of those feints when he gets franco to react it it's amazing
25:06you talk about the feints pearl when you start to faint do you have a certain comment oh
25:27do you have a certain combination in mind when you start your feints or is it just sort of uh
25:34hopefully it opens up something you certainly do especially these athletes who have such an
25:39extensive amateur background and have been fighting for most of their lives they certainly have just
25:45these instinctual movements where if they jerk one way the body moves the next way and just this
25:50beautiful momentum movement and it's a circular cylinder what is that called centrifugal force
25:57uh sure yeah sounds good okay all right i thought so too halfway point of the seventh round
26:07oh nice right hand from chucky i mean chucky looks good tonight look at look at his eyes he's
26:16comfortable in here he's sharp he's focused landing some great shots in this moment yeah he's
26:23extremely confident you're seeing that here and you said it you either win or you learn and
26:31daniel chucky barrera looks like uh a much better fighter and he didn't look that bad in his loss
26:37it was a decision that didn't go his way but again we continue to see the evolution of chucky here in
26:42the hollywood fight night's ring absolutely and what a way to bounce right back from his last performance
26:47and get in here and get to get right to work and that's what he certainly has done tonight

29:31a dirty fight but when they get tight he's tying up and at this point in this fight
29:38that's only hurting him he's got to just let his hands go and hope
29:41something big can land because i do feel like chuck he's going to step ahead in every round

30:00it's not going to be true but he's been a good fit all of it but it's winning all of it
30:05apparently there would be so much more kind of what the pressure is
30:06that ĂsenaĐ doesn't know where there's been getting lazy to the point of his
30:08game, he's got the fun at that stage but there's just a little bit there
30:11and willing to take shots while he's, you know, moving forward.
30:17But I do think the grappling at this point, you know, is you've just got to go.
30:22The urgency is there.
30:23Now let your hands go and see if you can land something and find something for yourself.

30:41And this has been an action-packed fight from bell to bell.
30:45And credit both these gentlemen that road work paying off
