02:01fighter that is hittable so newman knows that garcia fighting for the fifth consecutive time

04:22one against terrell gashay in march of last year garcia went on to win a controversial 10 round
04:29split decision and now with round two garcia looking to establish the jab yeah he said that was going to
04:36be the key for him in this fight is establishing that jab but he's you heard in the corner even
04:40george garcia was saying it to him abner yeah setting the rhythm setting the pace for garcia he
04:44is that type of fighter fighter going forward high guard and and and you know putting a lot more
04:49pressure than what he's doing right now he's just standing right in front of newman is putting the
04:52pressure on keeping his hands low but he is blinding him with the jab and just disrupting whatever
04:57rhythm garcia is trying 100 yeah set and he's going down to the body that's something that newman said
05:02he said i know he can take the headshots i want to test the body is having a lot of
05:06success so far
05:07uh in this first kind of yeah he's outlanded him seven to five in body shots through the first round
05:14in uh a minute here that's a blinding that's definitely a blinding jab that newman's got going
05:19he can't he's not letting garcia hop he can't he can't get off garcia because then he goes to the
05:24body nicely done and he's doing a nice job of doing that working and getting out uh because that's what
05:29gashay and davis had success with is elijah has to lunge in to get his offense off
05:35and those guys were able to count on him and then turn out
05:39and that's what newman's trying to do right here and he's doing pretty well with it so far elijah
05:43hasn't thrown much of anything newman has been the busier of the two fighters and

20:06and then into the body great distance shoulder roll even though he caught a right right hand right
20:10there but he came back with his own right hand has been yes the deciding factor thus far
20:17although in the last couple rounds to be fair to justin's point we are seeing signs of the elijah
20:23garcia that threw 80 plus punches around his signature win against jose armando resendiz which
20:29by the way has aged pretty well with resendiz becoming a champion well that just shows you as
20:34well that losses don't mean you know you can always come back from the last but even in those replays
20:38elijah was still laying in that left hand and coming around with the right a real interesting fight
20:41counter puncher and that quick right hook following newman back yeah but why take all those shots that
20:46newman is throwing instead if you could dictate the pace if you could go first if you're garcia there it

20:51put him on the ropes put him on the back position but again he's one of those fighters that likes

21:40the biggest critique of him is that he hasn't used his feet at all and that's what's allowing to your
21:45point if there is anyone that's breaking someone down right now that's garcia i feel that he's
21:49breaking down newman and you can sense that you can see it with the way he's standing and where he's
21:54at the position yeah garcia putting together the punches now and you can see the reaction
21:58in newman you know that he's feeling it and garcia now putting together another good round
22:02here and he's really starting to work on newman newman trying to fight back with the right oh
22:10overhand left from garcia now garcia's beginning to cook for just over a minute left in the six
22:17beginning to open up on newman and that's what he ever needs to do is get out of the corner
22:23he's staying flat-footed in these corners right now looking for a counter when he can be moving he's got
22:28the better feet and less power than you i don't know why he's trading with him yeah i think he's

22:38garcia the opportunities and garcia again you know one two punches but landing i will right by newman and
22:44i like that he's moving his head a little bit more garcia there it is making newman miss a lot

24:36who was hoping to increase his win streak to eight garcia bounced back from his lone loss with
24:44that win over terrell gashay that was disputed garcia going down for the first time in his career in
24:50round one and newman now we're getting it put it together on garcia what a punch combination there by newman
24:58guys yeah great work right there from here and he jumped in was able to show up the combination
25:03punching through more than one punch at a time and he's landing that jab garcia not taking the head
25:07off center line and the one thing about garcia i will say remains composed yes he definitely does i
25:14mean i think he loves that he catches he throw punches at me okay i'll get you back though it's

25:19matter of time but again talking about not staying saying not staying in center staying in center line he
25:24moves his head but then he goes back to staying where he was and that's where he gets hit he

25:52garcia's pulling away statistically and yet newman still shows stuff like that

26:15there with that left uppercut and it's newman he's fighting in spurts in this fight he'll kill him
26:21out hot like he did at the beginning of the round then he allows elijah's success and elijah's taking
26:25advantage of it but oh garcia lands another left hand the uppercut from newman final minute of the
26:32seventh garcia on the front foot has newman on the ropes jab left hand putting together the combinations
26:38on the inside newman looking to land the uppercut now nose to nose double jab from garcia
26:46and that was newman kind of being the bigger man naturally was able to bully his way out of the
26:50corner against the line 30 seconds left in the seventh big left hand from elijah right there
26:56and newman answers yeah bullet shot was done to bell line there another right hand from newman
27:02yeah definitely definitely better conditioning from garcia the the the attack the um you know
27:08pressures on garcia's side like you said it's just moments spurs moments from newman and then he gasses
27:13out yep that's pretty much the whole story of this fight so far
27:19and the damage elijah has more power and thud behind his shots or at least the effect that they're
27:24taking him

28:37yeah yeah was dominant the second half newman's still fighting in spurts having success but he's
28:43got to just keep the pace like remember what his coach and what he told us in the fighter meeting

28:48all about the jab and well it has really worked for garcia in this fight coming in he had never
28:53landed
28:54more than 12 jabs in any round tracked by compu box in nine previous fights he is averaging 12 landed

29:07see the old elijah garcia and we are seeing that oh uppercut from garcia and newman with the big right
