00:00Hi everyone, I'm Allison LaVorgia, the Managing Editor of HousingWire's Content Studio.
00:05Today I am joined by two people who need no introduction in the real estate world.
00:09We have Jason Mitchell, who is the founder and CEO of the Jason Mitchell Group,
00:13and we have Jake Craft, who is the CRO of the Jason Mitchell Group.
00:17Now, Jason has built one of the most recognized, top-performing real estate organizations in the country,
00:22known for redefining what the partnership experience looks like between agents, clients, and institutions.
00:28And in this conversation, we are going to dive into some of the strategy behind that growth,
00:33and how JMG is navigating today's market, and what it really takes to lead with innovation in the shifting housing landscape.
00:41Awesome.
00:42Thanks for having us.
00:44What is one strategy that team leaders can implement to maintain service quality while scaling operations?
00:50Wow.
00:51Yeah.
00:52That's a great question.
00:53Well, the number one thing that you have to think about when you make a decision that you're going to lead people
01:01is that they have to come first.
01:04And that was the decision that I was weighing back in 2018 when I really started focusing on growing the company
01:11because I was in the field, and I was doing really well, and I liked my job.
01:16And I knew that if I was going to focus on building this company, my production is going to take a backseat.
01:22And I think a lot of team leaders have a tough time with that because they want both.
01:26They want to still maintain their level of production, but at the same time focus on building a business.
01:32And that's a good thought to have.
01:35But what they don't realize is the more that you help the people that you're responsible for,
01:41the more you help them grow their business, the more they're going to stay, the more they're going to appreciate you,
01:45and the more that you can now leverage your time.
01:49Like time leverage was so important, and that's what I realized so long ago is,
01:53as we started to build through our great partnerships, was that I can actually trust somebody to work with somebody else's client,
02:02build their book of business, and in exchange for that, build revenue.
02:06But they were happy, the client was happy, and we took this leverage model and said,
02:11how can we create now systems and process around that?
02:14But when you make a decision that I want to have a team, grow a team, start a team,
02:21the day starts with them and it ends with them.
02:23You still want to produce and do your thing, that's fine, but you come second.
02:27You take a backseat to that.
02:28The other thing I think too is, you know, when they raise their hand and say,
02:32I want to be a team leader, they have to think like a CEO.
02:34They have to be thinking 6, 12, 18 months ahead.
02:38If they get stuck in the now, your agents are going to leave because you're not bringing that value.
