00:00Hi, we're the cast of Percy Jackson, and we're here with Hollywood Reporter.
00:05Really funny. Thank you. Really funny.
00:07We're the cast of Percy Jackson and the Olympians. One more time.
00:10We're the cast of Percy Jackson and the Olympians,
00:12and we're here at San Diego Comic-Con 2025 with Hollywood Reporter.
00:22Thank you for being here with us.
00:24You returned to Comic-Con yesterday.
00:26You had this huge Hall H panel.
00:28What was it like giving fans of the show this first look at season two?
00:32That was a blessing. It was amazing.
00:34It was amazing.
00:35I mean, that's some of the first footage we've seen, too.
00:39Yeah.
00:40So to all be experiencing that at the same time is really special.
00:44And fans have been freaking out over the teaser.
00:47I was looking at the comments online.
00:49They're praising everything from the cinematography to, you know, the budget.
00:54They're like, wow, they really got a lot of budget.
00:56Not them pulling us out on the budget. That's crazy.
00:59But what are you all most excited for fans to see in season two?
01:02I mean, personally, I'm excited for them to see Daniel.
01:05I think Daniel did an amazing job.
01:06That's like, that's my favorite part of this season.
01:09I'm going to pop it back to them.
01:11I think just their growth from season one has been so special to see.
01:14I think, again, coming in as a fan of the show and of these wonderful human beings and be able to see them kind of elevate their characters even more, make it more complex.
01:21I think all the fans of the first season are going to be so excited to see their growth and everything they're bringing to screen.
01:26Yeah, the stakes are so much higher this season and everyone has grown as people as well as characters this season.
01:33So coming back, I feel like we were all just on it.
01:35And this is like some of the best performances I've like seen and gotten the chance to experience and co-create with these guys.
01:42It's going to be amazing.
01:43Daniel, I was going to ask you just what you were talking about.
01:46The fans are loving the preview of your character in the teaser.
01:49What has that fan response been like for you?
01:51It's amazing.
01:52I mean, again, there's so many nerves around that coming in.
01:54It's like it's such a huge kind of like kind of gamble of sorts.
01:58I mean, we have an incredible team that's been putting it together.
02:01And but again, everything's for the fans.
02:04So if they love it, then we're happy because that's going to go the whole way.
02:07Yeah.
02:08And you were saying the stakes are just even higher in season two.
02:12Elaborate on that.
02:13How are the stakes raised this season?
02:15Yeah.
02:16Well, I mean, we've talked about this before, but there's a huge gap between season one and season two.
02:21Our audience has grown.
02:22And so have we.
02:23So I think everyone's ready for a little bit more mature of a show.
02:27And as the show keeps going, it's just going to get more and more mature and intense.
02:33Mature and intense.
02:34I like you.
02:35It's going to get more and more intense as the characters keep growing and they kind of face more adult problems.
02:43Yeah.
02:44You're also loving the I never said boyfriend moment at the end of the teaser.
02:48When you first saw the teaser, what was your reaction to that moment?
02:52Well, I mean, that was the moment that was like leaked online.
02:55Oh, yeah.
02:56So they added it in there to kind of be like, you know, to, you know, they already have it.
03:00So might as well have it.
03:01Yeah.
03:02And, you know, I honestly like, but if I'm, I honestly didn't even know it was going to be in there.
03:07I thought like once I saw like Daniel or Tyson, I was like, that is amazing.
03:12And then I heard something and I saw the great sisters.
03:14I was like, okay.
03:15And the great sisters.
03:16And then I heard my voice.
03:17And I was like, dang, I was like, I know about that.
03:21I know it.
03:22And then I heard that never said boyfriend.
03:23And literally, I didn't even like crazy thing is that when we filmed it, like, we honestly didn't even think too much into it.
03:30You know what I mean?
03:31Like when it, like, when we were doing the scene and stuff, like, it was just like, like quick, like back and forth.
03:35Like, I didn't say it.
03:36I believe you.
03:37But seriously, I didn't say it.
03:38But then like, once like the leak came out and stuff, people took it as like the biggest, biggest thing.
03:42And I was like, oh, shoot, I didn't have much of an impact on that part.
03:45So yeah.
03:46It's Persebeth, girl.
03:48People can't wait to see more Persebeth in season two.
03:51And I read that for season two, you moved off the volume stage and there were more real set pieces.
03:56How did that affect your performances?
03:57Oh, it changed everything.
03:59Yeah.
04:00It changed everything, the better.
04:01Almost everything we did was practical.
04:02It was great.
04:03I'm sorry.
04:04Did I take your-
04:05No, no, no, no.
04:06Not at all.
04:07I'm so sorry.
04:08No, keep going.
04:09You're doing great.
04:10No, no, no.
04:11Go, go.
04:12It's okay.
04:13No, it's just like, it's such like a dream as an actor because it's just like, it really
04:14helps you feel like you're truly in the world and like, just fully in it.
04:18And so, and the sets this season were insane.
04:20Like, even though Luke was not a part of the chariot races this year, he's not welcome back to camp.
04:27I still, I still went to set like every day for those days and just watched it.
04:31He was the best cheerleader.
04:32Yeah.
04:33It was insane.
04:34Like we already got challenged in the first season.
04:35You know, everything was like blue screen, CGI and stuff.
04:37So like that already challenged us and like expanded how we act because we have to literally
04:42imagine stuff being there.
04:43I have to have a scary face for something that's not even there.
04:45You know what I mean?
04:46For example, the chariots and stuff, instead of like being at the volume stage and stuff,
04:51and it's just like a chariot right in the middle and things like that.
04:53You were in chariots.
04:54Yeah.
04:55You're actually on the chariots and stuff.
04:56So it's, it's really helpful, you know, and especially when you have like all that sand
04:59coming towards you, the wind and like the real heat of it and things too.
05:02Like it was like, like 30 degrees Celsius, which is like 90 to 100 degrees and like Fahrenheit.
05:08So like being in armor and stuff really puts you to the test and things.
05:11So, you know, it felt very, very real.
05:14Yeah.
05:15Because it was.
05:16Yeah.
05:17I remember talking to Dan about it and poor guy.
05:20He, cause he's doing post on season two while working on season three.
05:24And I was like, Hey, how you doing?
05:26And he's like, this is kicking my ass, man.
05:28And, um, you know, it's obviously a lot harder in post.
05:31Because you have to create backgrounds.
05:34Whereas the volume stage it's, you know, it's a lot nicer.
05:37You don't, you can just kind of fix some of the horizon lines and the seams.
05:40And you have a whole team sent by ILM to manage it.
05:42But selfishly as actors, it's very helpful.
05:45Yeah.
05:46Yeah.
05:47And there's also just like, you know, you're there.
05:48If it's hot on the day, then it's hot in the scene.
05:50Exactly.
05:51And if it's windy on the day, it's windy in the scene.
05:53So it's like, exactly.
05:55You know, in episode eight, the two fights, we have the training one, like the final one,
05:58and the season one, those are both in the volume.
06:01And we filmed both of those on the same day in like the same forest.
06:04All they did was just change the background.
06:06So it was the same place.
06:07I would say the only downside is it gets hot really, really fast.
06:10Essentially, we love the fact that everything is practical and it makes our jobs a lot easier.
06:15Yeah.
06:16Before you go, we're going to do one quick question from our popcorn bucket.
06:22And then everybody can answer it.
06:24OK.
06:25You got this, girl.
06:26What's the best TV theme song ever?
06:28Bonus points if you sing it.
06:29We ain't getting no bonus points here.
06:32The proud family theme song.
06:34You and me will always be tied.
06:36Yes, you know, family.
06:37Oh, until the day and night.
06:39You know I'm loving every single thing you do.
06:43OK, duet.
06:45That was great.
06:46I used to know this entire song.
06:48The spectacular Spider-Man animated theme song.
06:50Oh, I'm not singing that.
06:51You sing it.
06:55Wow.
06:56I'm going to go with that one.
06:57Honestly, any animated show.
06:58Like Iron Man.
06:59Any like the Disney XD shows.
07:01Yeah.
07:02They had really good theme songs.
07:03Lab Rats.
07:04Kicking it.
07:05Oh my god.
07:06Or the Phineas and Ferb theme song.
07:07There's a hundred and four days of summer.
07:09New Girl.
07:10Sing New Girl.
07:11Hey, what you doing?
07:14Hey.
07:15Good job, Wiz.
07:16Where you going?
07:17Who's that girl?
07:19Who's that girl?
07:20It's Jen.
07:21There we go.
07:23Amazing.
07:24Thank you for all the performances.
07:26Thanks for hanging out.
07:27No, that was perfect.
07:28Thank you so much.
07:29Good job.
07:30Yeah.
07:32Something stunning here.
07:33I'm dying.
07:34I was intentional right now.
07:35That's why it has been a little boring episode.
07:36Good job.
07:38You're right.
07:39Thank you so much for watching.
07:43Thanks for sharing.
07:44uroscience.
07:45Thank you so much.
07:46Bye.
07:47Bye.
07:48Bye.
07:50Bye.
07:51Bye.
07:52Bye.
07:54Bye.
07:55Bye.
07:56Bye.
