00:00 "My name is Percy Jackson. Am I a troubled kid? Yeah, you could say that."
00:05 Percy Jackson and the Olympians is returning to Disney+ for a second season.
00:10 The streaming service renewed the series that's based on the best-selling novels of the same name
00:14 a week after the show's first season concluded. Season 2 will adapt the second book of the novel
00:19 series, The Sea of Monsters, which sends Percy on an oceanic quest to retrieve the Golden Fleece.
00:24 The show's stars, Walker Scobell, Aryan Samhadri, and Lea Sivey Jeffries,
00:29 helped spread the news on social media. And following the announcement,
00:32 Jeffries, who plays Annabeth Chase, also went live on Instagram.
00:35 "I'm so excited and I'm so grateful and I'm super happy for season 2.
00:40 And I'm just, I'm really glad that you guys came on this wild, wild trip with us."
00:46 Percy Jackson and the Olympians had the biggest launch to date for a Disney+ series that's not
00:51 part of either the Star Wars or Marvel Universes. The show's supportive fan base was evident in the
00:56 turnout at a recent fan event in Santa Monica, California, tied to the season 1 finale.
01:01 The cast told The Hollywood Reporter this about how season 1 of the series was brought to life.
01:05 "They built these huge set pieces. Like, when we were in the underworld, I was not at all expecting
01:10 them to do this. They made these massive, like, sand dunes for us to slide down into Tartarus into.
01:16 It was like, they brought an excavator inside the studio just to load and unload all of the sand.
01:22 It was awesome. Yeah. And also, but a lot of it, like a lot of the really big places,
01:26 like when we were in New York and a lot of that was on the volume stage. And it's insane
01:31 how real it looks. And Montauk Beach, all of that, that's all on the volume stage, which is crazy."
