What do locals think about lowering the voting age to 16 and 17?

There are proposals to allow 16 and 17-year-olds to vote in the next general election.Some have argued that younger voters tend to favour Labour, and this change could therefore benefit them politically.

00:12I'm a little uneasy about it.

00:14I think in one way it's a good idea,

00:18but I think 16 to 18-year-olds haven't made up their own minds about anything

00:25and have very easily influenced and leaped on the most popular bandwagon at the time.

00:34To some extent I'm a bit of mixed feelings.

00:39I think some 16-year-olds are very, very mature and could well use the vote well.

00:48But I do think people are a bit young to make decisions of that sort.

00:54You need a little bit more experience under your belt, I think.

00:58I mean, I had to wait until I was 20.
