People of Glasgow share their thoughts on technology leaving out the elderly

We ask Glaswegians whether they think technology has gone too far as to exclude elderly people.

00:00I know my grandchildren is quite up-to-date with their tech.

00:03I mean, I've got an issue with them, like, I can't help with this, but...

00:06And then again, I've worked with customers that are older,

00:10and they're totally clueless, so it's a bit of yes or no.

00:14Yeah, well, when you consider the closing banks,

00:17in most places, like, for instance,

00:19you want to go on the iPlayer or Mi5, etc., on television,

00:25they then ask you to either use your camera on your phone

00:29to identify yourself or use technology, your keyboard, you know.

00:33So a lot of older people aren't into that sort of thing,

00:37so obviously they're feeling isolated with the fact that...

00:40I mean, I work with computers and I still find it quite difficult

00:44doing that on television, etc., so I think they are getting left behind.

00:50It's getting a wee bit more confusing now.

00:52There's a lot more things coming out that even my mum and my dad,

00:55just no clue, not a clue what's going on.

00:58So, aye, we're getting left behind.
