Glaswegians share their thoughts on AI taking over jobs

We ask the people of Glasgow what they think about replacing workers with AI technology in supermarkets.

00:06I think it's bad because what if people, like, they need that job? Like, what if they were

00:10really desperate for a job?

00:12I think self-service checkouts are a way to eliminate the working class and the middle

00:15class so that we're left with just the people at the top and no one else. There's no way

00:20to make wages, no way to make money.

00:22And it's not fair for people that can't even work and all that stuff, do you know what

00:26I mean? It's like, there could be more things better than people just leaving, quitting

00:31and giving up and have more strength.

00:33I don't think it's fair that they're using AI, because what if people need that job and

00:40AI is just nothing really.

00:42It's lazy.

00:43Yeah, they're being lazy.

00:45I think we should keep the jobs. I'm not as scared of AI as everyone thinks. I mean, I

00:50think it'll just be something like the synthesizer, except it's taking people's jobs.

00:54And probably, yeah, probably get rid of AI. Definitely it's going to replace wages.
