People of Glasgow share their views on under 16s using social media

We take to Glasgow City Centre to find out what Glaswegians think about young people using social media.

00:00Yes, I think restrictions should be made here. I think social media is, I use it myself and I can

00:04see how addictive it can be and also I think I'm old enough to remember a time before the internet

00:12and when I heard what was coming I thought well this is going to be amazing people are going to

00:15have access to huge amounts of information and that doesn't seem to have happened. What seems

00:20to have happened is people get tramlined into their own beliefs and they follow their own

00:24beliefs and the algorithms will feed them more and more of what they want to hear and I think

00:28that's quite dangerous, I mean it's dangerous for adults, it's extremely dangerous for children.

00:33I think they should yeah and it's a big worry to parents everywhere with the amount of

00:42manipulation of the mind that goes on and little kids between the ages of nothing and 16, 17

00:50haven't a clue what they're being faced with or what they're being presented with and it should

00:56be stopped, well there is, I don't know how.
