00:00And what a major season it was, dating all the way back to April in Augusta.
00:05Rory McIlroy in a playoff over Justin Rose completes the career Grand Slam.
00:11After an 11-year drought, he wins the green jacket for the first time in his career.
00:16It was absolutely thrilling.
00:18Scotty Scheffler dominant at the PGA Championship,
00:21responding from the year prior in Louisville when he was arrested,
00:24entering round number two.
00:26Cops might be the only thing stopping Scotty from winning so many majors.
00:30It is crazy.
00:31J.J. Spahn in a rainy weekend at Oakmont,
00:35outlost everybody else in the United States Open.
00:38And Scotty Scheffler wins half of the four majors this year,
00:42the fourth in his career, all coming prior to the age of 30,
00:47winning a clear jug and the Open for the first time in his career.
00:51By the way, I'm sure everybody saw this stat yesterday.
00:54Scotty Scheffler won his first major championship of the 2022 Masters.
00:59He's won his fourth major championship here at the 2025 Open yesterday in Northern Ireland.
01:051,197 days between those titles.
01:11Same exact amount of time for Tiger Woods,
01:13who won his first major championship of the 1997 Masters,
01:18won his fourth major championship at the 2000 Open.
01:21Time in between, 1,197 days.
01:27The comparisons are there, DRS, between Scotty and Tiger.
01:30Even if Scheffler said post-tournament yesterday,
01:33I still got to earn a lot before you can really put me in the same sentence as the big cat.
01:38Yeah, because we've seen a lot of people do some damage throughout their career,
01:41get on a nice hot run.
01:42But how long can you extend that run and how long can you be dominant for?
01:46There's only four majors of the season and we're already in the month of July.
01:49We're down all four majors.
01:50It used to be, what, the August month was for the PGA Championship.
01:53So now it's like, all right, how do I get myself up for the regular tournaments
01:56or the fake tour championship, which I don't even think the players liked and forced to change
02:00in the absolute format just to get them to keep coming back at this point.
02:03It's basically just a big money grab.
02:05You ever get yourself and say, hey, I'm going to walk into the mall and it's,
02:08hey, put yourself in here and the dollars swirl around and just try to grab them.
02:11Like that's the end of the PGA Tour Championship season where it's like,
02:14it's just about money and not really about winning at all.
02:16So it's going in the off season, then coming back for the Masters
02:19and re-gearing up to try to win one of those four just to continue your dominance.
02:23It's a tough sport because, again, it does take its time off
02:26once you get after a major championship season.
02:28And also, they are competitors.
02:30They can tell you, hey, it's a week-to-week grind.
02:32No, it's not.
02:32Like you do grind week-to-week, but you get really up for the majors.
02:36And now that you don't have any more majors,
02:37it's always interesting to see how the rest of the season plays out.
02:40It's almost like, yeah, Sheffield won two more tournaments or whatever.
02:43It's like, well, they're not majors, so they don't matter.
02:44Like when you're winning at that stage and Tiger fell into the same thing.
02:48Like, well, I don't know if I'm going to play in the AT&T because they sponsor me,
02:51but Tiger didn't play a lot of golf tournaments.
02:53Basically saying, I'll play in a few,
02:55but the majors are the only thing I'm worried about at this point
02:57because that's the only win that matters for me.
