With the State of Emergency now in effect, two major business organisations are weighing in. While both support the Government's move to neutralise threats, they're also urging balance; calling for careful enforcement, transparency, and long-term solutions to protect the economy.

00:00The Trinidad and Tobago Chamber of Industry and Commerce says it supports the government's decision,
00:06calling it a necessary step to preserve order and protect lives.
00:10The chamber condemned the criminal activity behind the SOE
00:13and commended the swift response of the TTPS and other security agencies.
00:19It also welcomed the fact that no curfew has been announced
00:22and that businesses are allowed to continue operations.
00:26The group says this helps preserve economic stability during a period of uncertainty.
00:32But the chamber has also issued a caution.
00:35The SOE must be followed by meaningful reform,
00:38particularly within correctional institutions and greater use of intelligence, technology and interagency collaboration.
00:46Also weighing in is the Coalition of Services Industries.
00:49While it supports the national security response, the TTCSI noted that this is the second SOE within a year.
00:58The group urged authorities to enforce emergency powers responsibly
01:02and provide targeted support to minimize disruption, especially for vulnerable groups and service sector workers.
01:10The TTCSI says it's ready to collaborate with the government to boost security while preserving business continuity,
01:18tourism and investment confidence.
01:21Even as the country navigates heightened security measures, the business sector is clear.
