Some councils in England are reducing the frequency of bin collections to save money and encourage recycling. Are bin collections in Leeds satisfactory or rubbish?

00:00Aussies have improved, I would say, to be honest.

00:01Yeah, they have.

00:02We used to have a monthly green mint collection,

00:04which has gone up to weekly, so that's a massive improvement.

00:07And we can recycle glass now.

00:09Yeah, yeah, yeah.

00:10Which we didn't have before.

00:11Our bins emptied in Headingley on a regular basis

00:15when I least expect it.

00:17And for me, personally, it's a very, very good service

00:24that they provide.

00:25I was listening to a programme on Radio 4 ages ago,

00:28and it's not as simple as it sounds, I realise, to be honest.

00:32Space, people who live in town to put bins.

00:37I know where my daughter lives in Wales, all this, they're ridiculous.

00:41Seagulls are able to attack it because they put them in bags.

00:44So I think we're doing fairly well in Leeds, to be honest.

00:48Lesser bins actually encourages better regulation of your rubbish

00:52because it means, you know, stop producing as much rubbish.

00:54So I think that kind of naturally encourages people

00:57to be a bit better with that rubbish.
