00:01The Precious Blood and Our Lady of Mount Carmel
00:04The Mantle Beneath the Cross
00:06On this feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel,
00:10we find ourselves drawn not only to Mary's motherly care,
00:14but to her presence at the foot of the cross,
00:16where she watched her son pour out his precious blood.
00:20She stood where few dared to remain,
00:23in silence and sorrow,
00:25and yet in unwavering strength.
00:28Beneath the Cross,
00:29she became the first custodian of his blood,
00:33receiving in her heart
00:34the outpouring of love that would redeem the world.
00:38There is a deep and inseparable connection
00:40between Mary and the precious blood.
00:43She gave Jesus his body and blood through her fiat.
00:47Every drop that fell from the cross
00:48first flowed through her immaculate heart in Nazareth.
00:53Her role in salvation is not passive.
00:55She is the chosen vessel,
00:58the new Eve,
00:59who stood in full cooperation with the divine plan.
01:03At Calvary she did not cry out,
01:05but her soul bled with his.
01:07Her mantle became the shelter for those
01:09who would later take refuge in his wounds.
01:12Devotion to Our Lady of Mount Carmel
01:14is a reminder that Mary leads souls
01:17not to herself but to Christ crucified.
01:20The brown scapular she offers is not a magical token.
01:23It is a sign of her protection
01:25and her guidance toward a life lived under the cross.
01:29And where there is the cross,
01:31there is blood.
01:32Those who wear the scapular are saying,
01:35I will follow Jesus with Mary,
01:37even unto Calvary.
01:39Mary does not keep us from suffering.
01:41She teaches us how to suffer with love,
01:44united to the blood of her Son.
01:46She teaches us, too,
01:48how to receive.
01:50John stood with her at the cross
01:51and heard the words,
01:53Behold your mother.
01:55In that moment,
01:56Mary received us,
01:58and we received her,
02:00as the mother of those redeemed by the blood.
02:03Who better to teach us how to live
02:05under the protection of that blood
02:06than she who stood nearest to its source?
02:10She does not speak much in Scripture,
02:12but her presence is powerful.
02:13Where she is,
02:15grace flows more freely.
02:17Where she is,
02:18the precious blood is honored more deeply.
02:21Today,
02:22let us ask Our Lady of Mount Carmel
02:24to help us dwell more deeply beneath the cross,
02:27to remain faithful when trials come,
02:29to be silent before the mystery of suffering,
02:32and to allow the blood of Christ
02:33to sanctify every part of our lives.
02:36Let her mantle cover us,
02:38not to shield us from the cross,
02:40but to keep us standing beside it with hope.
02:44Let us pray.
02:46Mary, Mother of Jesus
02:47and Our Lady of Mount Carmel,
02:50teach me how to stand with you beneath the cross.
02:53Let me not run from the wounds of Christ,
02:56but take shelter in His precious blood.
02:59Wrap me in your mantle
03:00and lead me into the depths of His mercy.
03:04You who gave Him His blood,
03:06help me to receive its grace
03:07and live beneath its protection.
03:10May I be faithful,
03:12as you were,
03:13until the very end.
03:15Amen.
