00:00Arsenal head into a crucial summer under Mikel Arteta with the focus shifting from promise to execution as they prepare to compete seriously on two fronts, both the Premier League and the Champions League.
00:14After another campaign of clear progression but no silverware, the next step is all about converting potential into tangible success.
00:22This summer is about targeted reinforcement, not revolution. The Gunners are prioritising quality over quantity with midfield versatility and attacking sharpness high on the agenda.
00:33The aim is to ensure Arteta has the tools to rotate effectively without sacrificing intensity or control in Europe or the league.
00:41We caught up with Jacobella of London World to get his insights into Arsenal's recruitment strategy, the internal expectations heading into next season and whether this squad is finally ready to mount a sustained challenge for both domestic and European honours.
00:57Yeah, I mean just on the Premier League title race, unfortunately for Arsenal, I mean it seems like Man City have started to strut their stuff again in the window and you know what, Pep Guardiola doesn't really have a rest from winning, he's going to be straight back in there.
01:13So that sort of shows there's going to be another contender in Man City again and they are winners as well in the past, so they have that in their sort of locker, they know how to win the Premier League title.
01:26And then Liverpool obviously straight off the back of a fresh season with Arnie Schlart, a new era, they've kept that core in place and they've managed to go and win the title in his debut campaign as well.
01:36Do you feel maybe that's the sort of real advantage that these other sides have? Yes, they are flexing their stuff in the transfer window, but they have experience of winning a Premier League title already now and that's two teams who are going to be at the top, likely going to be contending again and that's something they have over Arsenal.
01:55Yeah, definitely. And, you know, the unfortunate thing for Arsenal is that won't change until Arsenal win something and they've really got to make that jump.
02:09Even maybe winning something like the League Cup slightly earlier on in the season, I know that final comes around a bit earlier, you know, if Arsenal could maybe focus on that to give them a boost for other trophies that they were competing for or titles, then, you know, maybe that might be a plan Arteta might look at.
02:27But, yeah, you're right. I mean, Arsenal just aren't as experienced when it comes to winning stuff, but they are becoming more experienced as a group.
02:34I mean, it was a very young squad two or three years ago. These players were 21, 22. Now, you know, Saliba's 24, Saka's, I think, 23, getting to 24, Odegaard 26, Rice 26.
02:48You know, these players are really coming into their prime and they've been coming through together and now they just need to make that jump.
02:55But, yeah, you're right. An experience when it comes to winning titles definitely favours Liverpool and City.
03:03And it was amazing. I mean, Arne Schlott's performance as a manager last season was incredible.
03:07But you've got to remember that he had players within the squad already that knew how to win things.
03:13You know, Salah had already won the league. Trent had won the league. Van Dijk.
03:17I mean, most of that squad really had already won the league in Champions League.
03:20So, yeah, they've got that experience. Arsenal, interestingly, you know,
03:25signing players, the players that they have signed, are a bit more experienced.
03:32You know, Kepa, the assistant, the backup goalkeeper coming in, you know, has won Champions League with Chelsea.
03:43You know, are Arsenal going to look at targeting some slightly more experienced, proven winners?
03:48We'll see.
03:49I think that Arsenal need a striker and they need support out wide.
03:55Yes, for Sakharan on the left. But a lot of Arsenal's issues against low blocks last season came just,
04:02they weren't just creating that spark. And it felt like all that creative pressure was on Odegaard.
04:08And I think Eze would bring an extra creative outlet in the centre of the pitch.
04:13And then he'd also solve problems out wide as well.
04:16So, for me, you know, the fact that Arsenal have been linked with Eze, he doesn't really seem like an Arteta kind of player,
04:22but maybe that's Arteta understanding he needs to be a bit less rigid and have a few more creative players in the squad.
04:29And to me, that's a really exciting development.
04:31So, out of the strikers, I personally prefer Sesko.
04:35Although I'm happy with any at this point, but the most exciting link so far has been with Eze.
