Carnival is definitely in the air as the Tribe Group unveiled their combined 42 sections from their various bands at the Queen's Park Savannah on Saturday evening under the theme Island Circus  Our reporter Sharla Kistow and camera operator Brandon Benoit have the highlights.

00:00The Tribe group is the second to launch for Carnival 2026.

00:14The group consists of Tribe, The Lost Tribe, Bliss and Hearts.

00:30The Tribe is now in its 11th year and is said to be the largest band on the road during

00:49the Carnival season in the large band category.

00:52Group lead of the Tribe group, Valmiki Maraj, gave an insight into the theme chosen for

00:57this year.

00:58So this theme is called Island Circus and it's a play on the idea of the traditional

01:02circus we know but made up by a kinfolk of Trindadian traditional characters, traditional legends.

01:10The idea behind it really plays on the fact that our traditional characters have such

01:14rich storylines, such rich backstories and in their own ways have been shunned in their

01:19own spaces to find kinship in each other.

01:22And seeing that not only from the stories, from the history books.

01:25So each section and each act as we are calling it this year is not a traditional character

01:29I'm presenting but rather inspired by, inspired by the personalities, inspired by the storylines.

01:36And our designers have called that challenge.

01:38Tribe is inviting everyone to join them on the road in 2026.
