Gen Z is burned out on dating apps, former Hinge content lead says

Gen Z is growing weary of dating apps, according to former Hinge content lead Ilana Dunn. The "Seeing Other People" podcast host told Fortune that real-world connections and confidence-driven spontaneity are making a comeback instead.

00:06to vibe their way through dating. And I'm glad that they recognize that because that's exactly

00:11what it is. People are craving real connections where they can suss out, is this a fit? Do we

00:18have something in common? Can we connect on a deeper level? And I think whether it's on dating

00:25apps or in person, people are looking for that spontaneity, that moment when, you know,

00:32eye contact from across the bar can turn into laughter over a glass of wine. People are looking

00:38to feel like they're not just a profile and they're actually a person. And so I think

00:45the more time goes on, the more burnt out people feel from the apps, the more they're going to be

00:50leaning into that. And again, it takes confidence, it takes courage, but it is possible for anyone,

00:57no matter how nervous they are, no matter how shy, it is possible for people to build that confidence

01:04and go out and do it. Again, it's what's the worst that's going to happen. You put on an outfit you

01:11like, you tried something new, and you got through it and prove to yourself that you can.
