00:00Anthropics' seven co-founders have promised to give away 80% of their stake in the company to
00:04charity, which could be worth nearly $80 billion, according to a fortune analysis.
00:10CEO Dario Amadei first announced the pledge in January, arguing that people profiting
00:15from AI have a responsibility to give back. Anthropics' new IPO filing says the pledges
00:20are voluntary and revocable, so they're not legally binding. There's also no timing or
00:25named recipients. Anthropics' co-founders hold about 1.69 billion shares, which would be worth
00:31around $99.3 billion, according to share counts and the latest private funding round price.
00:37But giving away shares wouldn't impact the control the co-founders have over the company.
00:41Under the rules, a founder could give away 98% of their stake,
00:45but still be part of the group that holds 50.1% of shareholder voting power.
