00:00AmCham CEO Neerad Tiwari notes that as larger countries continue to expand their global reach, they are also seeking strategic partnerships with nations like Trinidad and Tobago.
00:13He believes there is significant potential for investment and growth in the country's relationship with India.
00:21Tiwari points to opportunities in key sectors such as technology, agriculture and tourism and adds that there is strong financial value to be gained through increased trade with India.
00:33If we enhance our own government services, we're doing just under, I think, 400 million U.S. in trade with India at the moment.
00:43And if we can increase that by 50 percent, if we can increase it by 150 percent, that becomes a billion.
00:49Tiwari notes that Trinidad and Tobago and India already share strong links in the health care sector, pointing to the presence of Indian medical professionals working locally.
01:01On the question of procuring pharmaceuticals and medical equipment from India, he says, the country is known for producing high-quality generic drugs that are both effective and affordable.
01:14The Indian generic drugs, by and large, have been working very well and at a fraction of the cost of others.
01:26But like anything else, consumers will have to choose.
01:29The chamber executive explains that by partnering with India and tapping into its technological expertise, this country stands to improve the ease of doing business.
01:41He says such collaboration can streamline processes and ultimately boost the national economy.
01:48We sometimes think that ease of doing business is for those business people and is different from the things that citizens go through all the time.
01:57But it's one and the same.
01:58If it is easier to register a company for the small business here, it is easier to register a business for the investor who may wish to come in.
