The United Arab Emirates has introduced a new golden visa system, offering lifetime residency to Indian nationals. Unlike the previous requirement of investing 4.66 crore Indian rupees in real estate or business, the new system requires a fee of about 23 lakh Indian rupees. Applicants will undergo thorough background checks, including criminal records and money laundering compliance. The UAE government will evaluate applicants' potential contributions to the country's economy, society, finance, trade, and culture. This move is seen as part of the competition among Gulf nations to attract global talent and investment. The program will initially consider 5,000 applications as part of a pilot scheme.

00:00Big news for Indian viewers here, the United Arab Emirates government has started a new type of
00:05golden visa. They've tweaked it a little bit. It will be one based on nomination with some
00:10conditions but unlike the current ongoing practice of investing large amounts in either real estate
00:16or a business. Now the Indian nationals have more guidelines to look at if they want a golden visa
00:23for the United Arab Emirates. What were the earlier guidelines? For example I want to take
00:28that you immediately look at on your screens. Initially you had to invest in a property or a
00:35business at least 4.66 crore rupees Indian rupees had to be in one way or another submitted usually
00:41real estate or a large business. According to the new norms there's just one fee about 23 lakh rupees
00:48Indian rupee with Indian currency that has to be submitted. What does that mean? How does that make
00:53a difference? So earlier there had to be a very clear investment in a large business in the
00:58UAE in the Gulf nation. No need to invest in business or real estate anymore. You pay that
01:05specific amount but of course there will be some guidelines apart from that that need to be
01:09followed. What will that result in? Earlier the guidelines said a long-term residency was being
01:15offered. This was about 10 years or slightly more. New norm gives a life-term residency that will be
01:23offered to an Indian national. In fact beginning with the kind of collaboration that has happened
01:28between India and the UAE that Indians will get a priority and a benefit of that. So how does one go
01:35about it? What is the evaluation? Is it just about paying up the set amount? Applications can be submitted
01:40through one Vasco center. All applicants will have to undergo a thorough background check. That will
01:46happen. What does that mean? Criminal records, money laundering or anti-money laundering compliance. All of
01:53this will be screened. Your digital presence, your social media presence will also be examined. Contribution
02:00that you can make to the United Arab Emirates economy, society, finance, trade culture. How will you be a
02:07contributor to their society will of course be a priority as well. Now that application will be sent to United Arab
02:15Emirates government. The government will take a final decision and if it's an approval, if it's an
02:20affirmative, it's a lifetime residency that could come in from the Gulf nation to the Indian national.
02:27I'm in fact quoting from the guidelines that have come in from the Raiad group, the firm that has been
02:31selected to pilot the nomination-based golden visa in India. There's of course a lot of curiosity,
02:37speculation, what does it mean? Pranayopadhyay joins me for the latest on that. Pranayopadhyay,
02:42I'm thinking of all the capital gain that goes from India to the UAE. It's also about cooperation
02:48between the two countries. What are you making of it? What does it mean? This is a massive change
02:53from an earlier investment to a set amount.
02:57Absolutely, Apu Jain. If you see the shift which UAE is making right now, there are two aspects of it.
03:03One, the regional competition among the Gulf nation, among the GCC countries to attract more talent,
03:09to attract more investment. There is a competition going on between UAE, Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
03:15Every country is opening up, reforming their internal system and attracting more and more
03:20investment. UAE has emerged as a strategic partner to India and in any case, like around 3.5 to 4.5
03:29million Indians are already residing in UAE with various purposes there and they want to attract
03:36more Indians. Indians have emerged as a global talent pool and every country is trying to attract.
03:41And UAE want to have more investment and this is another, you know, the way Saudi Arabia is coming
03:46up with a new city with very high-tech investment area in the norm area. Similarly, UAE also trying to
03:52attract more talent, more money and that's why this new visa, golden visa scheme has been launched
03:58as per the rules which you have also displayed. This clearly shows that the earlier norms have
04:04been reduced to a fraction of it, like, you know, from 4.6 crore rupees to it's like 23 lakh rupees.
04:12So this clearly shows that they have reduced their norms, they want to attract more Indian investment,
04:17they want to have more Indians. But yeah, definitely they want to go for the background check in India
04:21and UAE have like a good stringent, the political partnership, they have a robust, you know, extradition
04:27mechanism as well. And therefore, UAE want to open it up and initially as a part of the pilot scheme,
04:34around 5000 applications will be considered first and thereafter, they might likely to continue it
04:40and like further opening up of the application process. So Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, if the Indians,
04:45there are sinking of a life-term residency, basically that would mean investments eventually
04:51and if they are, whether they intend to settle or simply invest in business, there have been now
04:56some tweaking that has been done by the UAE government. It's a huge opportunity, but we'll see
05:00how this goes specifically with regard to Indians elite, possibly shifting to the UAE.
05:08Alright, I want to now take you to our hill states. Torrential rainfall in the past few days in
05:13Himachal and Uttarakhand, especially in the past two days have led to widespread damage,
05:17disruption and loss of life. Himachal Pradesh has reported 78 deaths since the start of the season,
05:22MET department has issued orange and yellow alerts in several districts,
05:26warning of continued heavy rainfall and the risk of landslide and flash floods.
05:29Let's go one by one, Himachal Pradesh, 14 cloudburst incidents, three flash floods have been reported.
05:35That means also no chance for people to be able to escape from that flash flood and the cloud
05:42burst that happens. Mandi is the worst affected. 14 people have died, five injured, 30 missing.
05:48With fatalities increasing, state's monsoon death toll has risen as well.
05:51Now, who's the member of parliament from Mandi? It's actor Kangana Ranaut.
05:56She was inspecting the flood affected areas as well. Now, Ranaut asserted that she was always accessible.
06:02She accused the Congress government in Himachal Pradesh that they were not providing relief to the victims.
06:08About 250 personnel from NDRF, SDRF, Army, ITBP, Home Guards also are at work.
06:13And of course, some of the comments that Kangana Ranaut has made also went viral and turned controversial.
06:19Here's one exclusive interview with India Today. Kangana Ranaut MP, Mandi speaking.
06:23Kangana Ranaut,
06:42We are going to have a person, a family, little children, and their children are not able to do anything.
06:49We are not able to do anything.
06:51But in our hands, as I said, I said that the bridge was given.
06:56Today, I had the bridge from Sandsar Nidhi.
06:58The road, which I have done, I have done all of them.
07:01I have done all of them.
07:04So, our Shri Narendra Modi Ji has sent aid.
07:07We have sent them to them.
07:09So, this is our work.
07:11We are not able to do anything.
07:13We will do it for them.
07:15As we say, in spirit, we are with them.
07:17And that is more important.
07:19And this is saying that Sandsar is not reaching 5 days.
07:23I want to stay away from them.
07:25I want to stay away from them.
07:28I don't want to react to them.
07:31I don't want to react to them.
07:35We will do it for them.
07:37They will not be helped.
07:39That is going to be one line or two lines.
07:40I think Vikram Haditya was going to post that
07:42when people can't act to them anyway.
07:43We have been doing this in the work of the public.
07:44We have to support them.
07:46We have to work.
07:47And also, if we are doing this,
07:49we have to assist people to help us.
07:50That is the Mr. Mr. Vargasan.
07:51We are doing this job for us as well.

08:22India today continues to be on the ground in Himachal Pradesh, here are some of the ground
08:51reports.
08:52India is a very important area, the city has been a very important area in Himachal Pradesh,
09:06which has been a very important area in Himachal Pradesh, here are some of the areas of the area.
09:1830-30-40-40 years ago, but there was a loss in one day, and the people of the people of the village
09:28have to use for the rations kits, they have to be used for the rations kits, they have to be used here,
09:34and this is not here, whether it is in Guhar, Thunak, Siraj Vidhan, Naachan,
09:40which is based on the working environment
09:45and the capital it is working
09:46that the workers can do their work
09:47and that's what the workers can do
09:50the supplies are working
09:52and the taxpayers can do their work
09:54and now they are working
09:58because they are working
09:59and the way they are working
10:02and the government needs to make sure
10:06In fact, it's not just Himachal Pradesh.
10:19Even in the United States of America's Texas, a massive flash flood that took place.
10:23Twenty-two people died and many are missing, especially children.
10:27The deadly floods have left many stranded.
10:30Clearly the visuals show houses have been submerged, vehicles caught in the flood fury.
10:35President Trump has called the floods as catastrophic.
10:38While blaming the previous government, meanwhile, Trump has said floods were unexpected
10:43but blamed the 100-year-old system.
10:45He sought to deflect responsibility, it appeared, and he's blamed it on a Biden set-up.
10:50However, amid all of this, the visuals that come in on our screen are not only scary
10:54and because there was specifically a girl-student camp that was organised
10:59and there are many girl-children students who are still missing, many have been found.
11:04But it's reflective of the situation.
11:07A lot of grief presently in Texas over these floods.
11:11If you look at that, what a situation that all is.
11:16And that was really the Biden set-up.
11:19That was not our set-up.
11:20But I wouldn't blame Biden for it either.
11:22I would just say this is a 100-year catastrophe and it's just so horrible to watch.
11:30I don't blame him.
11:33I do that.
11:35I don't blame him.
11:37I lost that.
11:39I was.
11:40I wasn't sure.
11:41I was totally fine.
11:42I was.
11:43I don't blame him for it.
11:44I had a lot of pain, but I was eventually.
11:45Maybe we might lose, I wasn't sure.
11:46Maybe he was walking down here.
11:47Maybe he was walking down here.
11:49But at that point, I don't blame him for him or anything.
