00:05but i i also think that if what they're purporting happened here sam that this is

00:11gonna rise maybe to just below that otani one maybe number two if it ends up because

00:15this is a significant player in the nba yeah absolutely this is a guy you know um unlike

00:22jonte porter who many people hadn't even heard of uh before uh his scandal popped and um obviously

00:28it was found out that he was manipulating prop bets on games and uh was ended up being banned for life

00:35from the nba faces a lot of federal charges as well malik beasley a bigger name he started uh on the

00:40pistons or i'm sorry uh came off the bench for the pistons this past year but he was second in the

00:45league in three-pointers made he was actually in line for a 45 million dollar contract it was reported

00:51and then all of a sudden the first day of free agency it comes out that he's embroiled in this

00:55possible scandal now the u.s attorney's office for the eastern district of new york is currently

01:00investigating it they i want to be clear they haven't made any formal charges yet so we did have

01:05a case recently where another nba guard terry rogier was involved in an investigation was actually

01:11just cleared of it so it could very much still be uh possible that beasley is found to have done no

01:16wrongdoing but the games that they're looking at here um are when he was a member of the milwaukee bucks

01:22uh there's a specific game in general on january 31st when he played against the portland trailblazers

01:28there was all of a sudden a huge amount of money taken on the under for his rebound prop i think it

01:34was about two and a half boards he actually finished the game with six uh but the the odds had swung crazy

01:40from about plus 120 which is pretty normal for a prop bet to minus 250 so anytime that happens on someone

01:47who is not you know there's not a lot of news surrounding if he's going to play or not that

01:51wasn't the case with this uh and there wasn't you know it's not a lebron james it's not a steph curry

01:55like beasley's a pretty big name but he's not someone where tons of money is going to come in on

02:00him so it's interesting that he actually finished with six boards that game effectively killing this

02:05large bet that had been placed on the under um so we don't know exactly what has happened here we

02:11also don't know if that's the only game um you know it's this news came out right before the first day

02:16of free agency so that leads us to believe how long has this been under investigation you know it was

02:21about two years ago where this was the case was the incident uh and then again the team the

02:27detroit pistons presumably had no idea this was going on because by all reports they were going

02:31to give them a big payday they actually pivoted and traded for duncan robinson uh about a day after

02:36this news came out and gave them the same contract so you had to think that malik beasley was part of

02:40their plans they just found this out to me that makes me think what else is going on here does this

02:45maybe go deeper than we previously thought you know we've only heard about jonte porter we've only heard

02:50about terry roger but how many other other players are under you know possible investigation

02:55by the feds that the teams just quite frankly don't know about you know the nba works with

03:00federal prosecutors but it's not going federal prosecutors aren't going to notify teams unless

03:05there's a reason for them to do so so um you know there's no clear ties to the porter case yet it is

03:10being investigated by the same office which is an interesting uh kind of nugget here but we'll have to

03:15see what happens with beasley i imagine now that the news is out there the nba will want kind of a swift

03:20resolution want to get ahead of it um especially during the off season when this is kind of the

03:24big talk right now
