00:21show it's going to be a little bit different because you know this young lady has created

00:27developed written she's done a lot of stuff but she has a magazine and so we're gonna be talking

00:33about a magazine i know we talk about books but we're gonna be talking about magazine so that

00:38magazine is going to be right here i got it right here it's fierce and fearless that's right fierce

00:45and fearless i mean come on come on and i want welcome to ciara to the show thank you so much

00:52for joining us today hello hey so okay so ciara what i want to go right into it what was it that

01:03you kind of came up with what was it what was the trigger point that made you say i have to do this

01:10i have to create fierce and fearless well um i was actually selected to be in a program i'm with

01:18goldman and sacks um last year and it was a program with uh pretty much all women there was about 100

01:26i think 140 of us maybe and that program really like lit a fire under my feet um just realizing the

01:35power that we have as women as a whole and just being in that room with all those women it just made

01:40me think you know i want to and allow women to have an opportunity that they think they're not able

01:53to have um and so this magazine is basically is basically going to allow women to showcase um their

02:02skills their challenges um just being the role but not only that it's going to also help other women to

02:09see and be able to take that next step in their career or entrepreneur journey and um really just

02:17allow a time for networking and a way to connect with each other that's so cool i like that because

02:22you know women i mean i i find that a lot of women don't understand that there are other women out

02:27there that are just like them or walking that similar path and you feel as i i have felt i have

02:34i can't really talk about other people but i can say that i have felt alone in my struggle a lot of

02:39times you know where i'm like you know there is really no one that can connect with me like if i go

02:44out to a movie and i want to talk about business that's on my mind most of the time i'm an entrepreneur

02:51so to hang out with like people who are working for someone else it's not really something i can

02:58relate i can't relate so definitely definitely i think this magazine is going to be something that

03:04i would probably be interested in as well you know what is the motivation behind this besides that was

03:10it something selfish what were you like like me like oh my gosh who else is out there going through

03:17this yeah so um growing up i i'm not going to say i didn't come from a lot uh what you know i think

03:25back in our time things were different than how they are now but we were like those kids that you

03:31always think oh i want to do this i want to do that but then in the back of your mind you're you're

03:35kind of like am i really ever going to be able to be that um and so you know the the program that i

03:42went through and then like i said just being able to write this magazine i think really kind of helps

03:47bring that to light for a lot of women because a lot of us i think we do still have that mindset like

03:53we we can't do that or maybe i'm not good enough or you know and and that's what i want to change

03:59with fierce and fearless um you know i want it to be a whole movement um so i also have a podcast that

04:06i'm going to be doing around the magazine um some merchandise that's going to be coming out but i

04:11definitely you know just want to connect women um and and just help us to realize that we're stronger

04:18than what we think and we definitely mean more than what we are appreciated to be um and that's

04:25basically what drove me to you know really push this magazine because yeah i was like you i struggled

04:31i thought that i was out here by myself i i didn't think anybody else thought like me um it was really

04:37hard for me to have conversations like even with my family like i drive my mom and daughter crazy

04:41because i'm constantly just thinking about the next big thing that i can do um and so you know

04:49it gets lonely sometimes because you're like how come nobody's thinking like this you know like i'm

04:53i'm trying to chase that bag and everybody else is just like oh i've got a clock into work tomorrow

04:58or you know well i'm done i'm thinking honey my clock don't stop it's not down to five over here

05:03exactly exactly i love that i absolutely love that because this actually you know it it registers with

05:12me you know it's something that actually i can actually say i i really empathize with it i really

05:18do understand it and i and i live it on a daily basis like you're right you know i'm i'm like not

05:24clocking in i'm like when am i gonna clock out like when am i gonna fall asleep like i'm gonna sit

05:29here i'm gonna do this work and i'm gonna be like waking up going oh my god you know because i am i'm

05:37that that kind of entrepreneur i'm that person you know and so what can you say what can you what can

05:43you say about the magazine well how do you how do you choose those topics and those things to talk

05:48about if there's a lot there's a lot to say there's a lot to say how do you go about doing that

05:54well you know truthfully uh well i'm also um i also own a medical billing and uh credentialing

06:00business so you know i'm seeing a lot of things i'm seeing a lot of people on the daily um most of

06:05my clients are females and you know again that also drove um my inspiration as well but um as i

06:13interact with people and you know just as i sometimes scroll through facebook or even instagram

06:19i start kind of seeing like what's missing or or what might need more emphasis and facebook and

06:29instagram it kind of saddens me a little bit because i feel like people

06:34hold on because you you you cut off so go back facebook and instagram and then continue from there

06:46um so yeah scroll through facebook and instagram um and i and i just see like a lot of what's

06:53missing and facebook and instagram it it kind of saddens me a little bit because i see

07:00the disconnection there i i see how it people more so focus on image or competition i don't really

07:09see women out there trying to help each other or um you know having like purposeful conversations

07:16and then i see so much negativity either someone is you know having something negative to say about

07:22the other instead of like uplifting the person and i feel like we need to try to encourage

07:30interactions um things that i see when i'm when i'm out or either i'm on social media

07:42and i pay attention to detail which is also why i own a medical billing business um and it to me it's

07:53just it's obvious you know um they're like you said there's so much that we can write about and talk

07:58about and i just really hope that this changes and opens up um a new door for somebody right right

08:06and i'm on your website you know and i'm looking at it and i'm gonna go to the library because i thought

08:11that that was really really cool that you have not just written this magazine and you're not just

08:17focused on this but you have books tell me was this a like did you did you find yourself having

08:23to have this magazine because you had books and because you couldn't find those women that were

08:29really after their goals and their dreams and going after their their aspirations no i really just i

08:35wanted something uh a little bit different um so i started writing when i was in middle school

08:40i've always had a passion for it um and like i said i've always had a dream of doing several

08:45different things um being in the forbes magazine was one of them and i accomplished that with the

08:51program at goldman and sax um and so you know once i started writing which as you can see i've already

08:56got a couple books there i've got several more coming out this year um it just made me think like

09:02what can i do to go a little bit further than a book like what can i do to actually incorporate

09:08um more people and and really make a statement and so that that's really how i came up with it because

09:16i want to make a statement i want this to mean more than just a magazine um that's where i came up with

09:23it that's good that's good so it's a continuation of what you've already begun basically yes and did

09:30you feel the need to reach out and be that mentor through the magazine i did i felt like that was the

09:37best approach um i feel like a lot of people still you know actually like magazines um i'm seeing it

09:45all across the social media that that's you know where a lot of people are going and so i thought you

09:51know what a better way to reach out to women or start something to help women get to that next step in

09:59their life and um that's why i jumped on it i thought it'll be a good way to not only do what

10:07i love doing the most but also help somebody else right i i absolutely love it because you know a lot

10:14of people don't do this a lot of people don't go after their dreams their goals they don't go to the

10:19next step they don't go to the next level they just stay there and then they become very comfortable

10:24in that what was the biggest the hardest thing to jump from actually writing the books to doing the

10:32magazine the challenge not knowing if it was going to um be accepted or not not knowing if the point

10:40was going to get across or if it would truly help anybody um and so that's kind of where i kind of got

10:48stuck with it but i'm also that person that i'm like you know what you don't know until you jump

10:53so i just jump for it and you know i'm excited to see where the project goes definitely definitely

10:59what what kind of response have you gotten if any since you've done this since you've launched a

11:06magazine um actually i've gotten um a lot of responses a lot of good and exciting responses um a

11:15lot of people telling me like you have to take this further like this needs to be more than and

11:21and again like i said that was my purpose from the beginning is to make this more than just a

11:25magazine but um you know a lot of people are excited about just the conversation just the the

11:31title itself and um wanting to become a part of that or figure out how they can become part of that

11:36and you know what that means um to be a fierce and fearless woman entrepreneur

11:42yeah and so that's basically yeah within the within the magazine a lot of people have their own column

11:50they have their own advice column they have their own suggestions what is it that people can expect

11:56when they actually open up the magazine and do you take them further along is there coaching i mean

12:01i'm just trying to figure out because you know as as we as you know like the magazine right

12:08it's so it's fearless it's fierce but how can people benefit from reading it is what i'm trying

12:16to get at um so yeah yeah so the like i said

12:20these they're they're so you're going to cut off again so go back to answer that again because you

12:31you're you're pausing and going so okay um so the magazine is going to be packed with um

12:37like stories from other women um their their hardest challenges how they've overcome those challenges

12:43um tips and tricks around being an entrepreneur um especially being a mom and an entrepreneur

12:51and you know there's even going to be some women basically just talking about their career but

12:56there's going to be lots of different things in here um to guide women who are entrepreneurs

13:01or maybe thinking about becoming an entrepreneur and just a lot of like inspiration

13:07again to help the next person to take that next step so basically we'll be sharing our journeys from

13:13start to finish um providing ways to help you figure out how to get to that next step or you know

13:22maybe where you're stuck at how you become unstuck um so that's that's where we're going with

13:28got you magazine and there'll be more to come definitely how has this helped you come out of

13:36i'm not i'm alone to i'm not alone this is really a universal issue um the magazine has helped me

13:44actually self-reflect a whole lot and it's also helped me to realize that you know when you push

13:51yourself out there and you keep trying to interact with people you will eventually find the right

13:57people and and your right circle and and like i said just by doing this i've had several people

14:02um you know either message me about it or call me about it um it's it's definitely been a

14:09conversational piece for sure um and like i said a lot of people seem very excited about it i know i'm

14:16very excited about it nice and

14:19yeah i missed the whole part after i'm very excited about it because you went away again

14:36that was it yeah go ahead and say whatever you said yeah i was just saying i'm just really excited

14:43about the uh the magazine and how it's you know pushed me to become a little bit better and push

14:50myself a little bit more than you know where i was at before which again is the purpose of the magazine

14:55and to again just let people know that you know we don't have to stop at one step it's important that

15:02we keep going and we keep trying to figure out what is that next thing that's going to help us

15:05grow what is our next growth spurt and and to to find that point to where we're staying stuck at or

15:12what we're struggling with and and realize that there's always room to go a step a step above and

15:18so that that's really what the magazine is about that's great i love it absolutely love it well thank

15:25you so much for being on the show i appreciate it you know what kind of advice do you have for people

15:30if they've never heard about your magazine they don't know nothing about it they can't get it they

15:34don't have access to it but you could give them the advice it's going to get them started to get

15:39them motivated to get them going and and to make them understand that they're not alone what would

15:43that be um i would definitely say um being a woman um whether you're a mother or not you are powerful

15:52you are loved and you are beautiful and you can never let anyone take that away from you um you you

15:59definitely have to find your own power it's within yourself um it is not with whoever you know is on

16:05social media or or whoever's in our circle it we hold the power and until you're able to see that um

16:14you know you're you're it's going to be hard for you to realize who you are yeah but

16:19so i've missed missed all but i missed all of that after it's gonna be hard but

16:33do you know what you just said no

16:36so it's gonna be hard but you could do it i guess i don't know

16:44i love it oh my gosh it's okay it's all right but we get the gist of the whole thing and i
