00:10time against the Al-Farabi hospital in the west and the Iranian radio and
00:14television headquarters in Tehran. Russia fulfills its obligations under the
00:23Istanbul agreements and deliver more than six thousand bodies of Ukrainian
00:27soldiers to Kiev. In the United States President Donald Trump orders to escalate
00:37deportations and focus on so-called sanctuary cities amid growing protest
00:42against his policies. Hello and welcome to From the South I'm Alejandra Garcia from
00:54Telesur Studios in Havana, Cuba. We begin with the news.
01:03Iranian government denounces Israel for launching new threats and attacks against
01:10civilian targets this time against the Al-Farabi hospital in the city of Kermenash
01:15in the west of the country. Also it is reported that the Israeli attack led to the
01:20activation of the air defense system following the bombing of the military
01:24base in the Kermensha region. The Iranian government warned that its attacks have
01:29only been against Israeli military bases, that it has not attacked residential areas,
01:35but if the Zionists continue their assault they will give an immediate and
01:39forceful response as Israel has caused at least 224 deaths and 1,277 injuries, most of them women and
01:50children.
01:57In this context of Israeli aggressions the Zionist forces bombed the Iranian radio and
02:06television headquarters in Tehran. Sources add that there are martyrs and
02:11wounded in the Israeli airstrike against the Broadcasting Corporation building. Iranian
02:16television anchor Sahar Emami resumed her work minutes after the channel's studios were
02:23hit by Israeli airstrikes. Meanwhile, all Iranian Broadcasting Corporation channels are broadcasting
02:29normally, except for the Al-Akbar news channel. For their part, the Israeli occupation army threatens
02:36to bomb police stations in Tehran. Iranian air defenses are fully in operation in the Persian capital.
02:43Meanwhile, Iranian missiles hit the power plant in the Israeli region of Haifa, causing an extensive
02:56blackout in central areas of its illegally occupied territories. The strike took place as part of Iran's
03:03response to the escalating aggression by Tel Aviv against the Persian country.
03:10Oman condemned Monday the Israeli aggression against Iran and sent its condolences to the government
03:24and people of the Persian nation for the victims of the Zionist attacks. The expressions of sympathy
03:30were issued by the Sultan of the nation, Haitham bin Tariq, who reiterated the importance of returning to
03:37negotiations, dialogue and moral understanding to curb the escalation of violence. The Oman leader reaffirmed
03:44its country's commitment to the resolution of the conflict through political, diplomatic and peaceful means.
03:50Iranian President Massoud Pejewskian denounced the violations of international norms by the U.S.
04:07government and its position on the conflict with the Zionist government of Israel. The Iranian leader reiterated
04:13that they did not want war and did not start it, also emphasises that they are always open to dialogue
04:20and negotiations. He also stressed that his country is not developing nuclear weapons and that as a sovereign
04:27nation, it has the right to use nuclear energy for research and peaceful purposes for the benefit of its
04:33society and not to suffer loss or life or property. In this regard, Russia, China, other governments and
04:41organizations around the world have condemned the Zionist attack against Iran while the United States
04:47has defended Israel.
04:58When they say that Iran should not acquire nuclear weapons, we have no intention of acquiring them. We have the right
05:04to enjoy nuclear energy and research that benefits this society. No one has the right to take this right away from
05:10the system or the Islamic Republic and we are strong enough to defend it and we do not fear any power.
05:17When it comes to its realization, we have forged brotherly ties with all Islamic countries, all of which are our
05:23brothers. Today, most of them and perhaps all of them are on our side. They are with us. I believe that the United States
05:29is talking nonsense and using the power that exists in Iraq, contrary to all international laws, to allow Israel to attack
05:37and invade our country from there. We did not seek war. Iranian Foreign Minister Rabah Zaragishi called on all
05:46Iranians inside and outside the country to unite, urging them not to give in to the enemy and to fight for their
05:52homeland.
05:57In a situation where our beloved country is on the verge of attack, massacre and war,
06:03Iranians both inside and outside the country stand united in defense of their homeland. But amidst this, people
06:11with Iranian surnames who speak Farsi, have been born in this very land. And it is here that they have become
06:18famous. They have praised themselves in front of the enemy. I would like to hear your message for these people.
06:24Anyone who speaks ill of their country is a traitor, as is anyone who does not fight for their country. Thank you.
06:30In Iran, the Health Ministry announced that 70 women and children died in three recent Israeli attacks in Tehran.
06:40Authorities added that with this new information, the number of people killed by the Tel Aviv's strikes since the
06:47start of its hostilities against Iran now stands at 224. It is notable that 90 percent of those killed are civilians
06:56following the Zionist attacks on residential areas. They emphasize that at least 10 of the fatalities are
07:02scientists and staff from nuclear energy facilities and three are high-ranking officers in the Iranian army.
07:10The hostilities carried out by the Zionist entities since last Friday have affected at least 18 Iranian provinces.
07:19The Iranian Revolutionary Guard confirmed the assassination of its intelligence chief Mohamed Qasemi and his assistant
07:35Hassan Mohaked as part of Israeli airstrikes against the Iranian territory. In this context, the intelligence commander
07:42Mohsen Bagheri lost his life due to shellings made by Israeli-sworn drones in several Iranian areas.
07:49Subsequently, the Iranian agency reported a series of missile operations against Israeli intelligence centers.
07:56Moreover, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard confirmed the continued effective operation against vital targets in Tel Aviv until their complete elimination.
08:05Iran has been pursuing Operation True Promise 3 in response to the Israeli offensive against its territories on June 13.
08:20The Iranian government could decide to leave the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty following some nuclear signatories as Israel had violated it by having
08:34attacked three nuclear facilities of Iran. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ismail Bagheye announced that the parliament is preparing a bill to endorse their exit.
08:45In this regard, Bagheye highlighted that Tehran has been always opposed to the development of nuclear weapons.
08:52Meanwhile, President Masoud Peshavikian reaffirmed the nation would defend its inalienable right to harness nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.
09:01Furthermore, the leader denounced that the United States resorted to intimidation as Washington allowed Israel to strike.
09:08The authorities further underscored that both states violated international regulations.
09:15In addition, he remarked that Iran has never looked for nor initiated a war.
09:20In this context, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan issued a statement after a telephone conversation
09:35condemning Israel's actions against Iran, considering that it aggravates the situation in the Middle East.
09:42In addition, the text pointed out that this new attack against another state in the region represents a clear violation of the United Nations Charter and other norms of international law.
09:54The leaders called for an immediate ceasefire and the resolution of controversies, including the Iranian nuclear program, through political and diplomatic means.
10:03Doctors Without Borders urged European Union leaders to persuade Israel to stop the siege of Gaza.
10:21The Secretary General of Doctors Without Borders, Christopher Lockyer, described Gaza as a hell on earth byproduct of almost two years of unstoppable shellings.
10:33The humanitarian movement said that over 1,000 members were working in Gaza.
10:38The organization further revealed they had striven to run six clinics, two field hospitals and provide support to other care centers in the enclave.
10:48In addition, the entity unfolded, they were living on one meal a day.
10:54Therefore, the humanitarian movement spurred European Union foreign ministers to make the right decision on their upcoming debate on June 23rd,
11:03regarding the suspension of the association agreement with Israel.
11:07The national cooperation with Israel is a clear message to the leaders of the European Union to stop the carnage in Gaza and allow unhindered humanitarian aid.
11:13The President of the European Union to deliver an open letter with a clear message to leaders of the European Union ahead of next week's foreign affairs and European councils.
11:21Our message to the leaders is simple.
11:24simple we urge you to use all political economic and diplomatic tools to exert
11:30real pressure on Israel to stop the carnage in Gaza and to allow unhindered
11:36humanitarian aid healthcare staff in Gaza is operating beyond the limits of
11:42human endurance and they themselves as it was said they have been displaced
11:49several times they need to leave the medical activities to take care of their
11:55family they have lived a total disruption of their normal life and of
12:01their social and supportive network the mental health toll on our staff is heavy
12:08and on everybody in the last two months we have seen at least three of our staff
12:16that have had to be admitted to the hospital and they become patient
12:21themselves and this is not sustainable this is not human so we really call for
12:30action now we need humanitarian aid to enter Gaza now we need this to stop
12:40in other informations the Russian Federation complies with the agreements
12:49established in Istanbul by delivering more than 6,000 bodies of fallen soldiers to
12:54the Ukrainian regime the head of negotiations on behalf of Russia Vladimir
12:59Medinsky said that Moscow received a total of 78 bodies of Russian soldiers from

13:11the exchange of seriously wounded soldiers on the front lines Russia and
13:15Ukraine reached a humanitarian agreement during talks held in Istanbul on June 2nd
13:22at the United Nations Venezuela demanded the elimination of sanctions and unilateral
13:34economic blockades imposed by Western countries on sovereign nations during his
13:39speech Venezuela's foreign minister Ivan Hill recalled that the coercive and
13:44illegal measures imposed by the United States and its allies only served to
13:48generate economic instability and hiding political tensions in the region the
13:53diplomat also noted that the Venezuelan people are subject to over a
13:58thousand US and European sanctions resulting in economic losses exceeding 640
14:04billion US dollars he'll also express solidarity with Cuba which is affected by
14:10US blockades and demanded that Washington remove the Caribbean nation from the
14:15list of countries allegedly promoting terrorism
14:20these types of measures that aim to exert pressure exploitation domination and
14:31subduing sovereign and independent nations are now the biggest obstacle to
14:35implementing development plans in nations subject to these so-called sanctions and
14:40even to implementing the 2030 agenda for sustainable development and the
14:45effective and timely achievement of its sustainable development goals for his
14:51part Cuban vice minister of foreign affairs Carlos Fernandez de Cosillo explained
14:56that the US blockade limits the island's commercial development with all the
15:00countries around the world the US blockade prohibits the export to Cuba from any
15:09country of any product produced in that country by its companies and workers if the
15:15product has 10 percent or more components of US origin in Italy a couple of
15:22dozens protesters unfurled a banner Sunday in Venice calling for a halt to new
15:27hotel beds in the lagoon city organizers underlined that nearly 17,000 tourist beds had
15:33been added to the city of Venice since 2017 despite a hotel block in the historic center adopted that
15:42year by the city the protesters moved on obstructively from the first stop in
15:48Tranchero an island not covered by the hotel block where a 648 room hotel has
15:55recently opened and where another is being built to the caille del
15:59guardiani structure details of the protest weren't advertised and it was
16:04kept small and non confrontational
16:09well complex of the the Danish complex that was taken over by Delta real estate
16:18when it was taken over there were 18 apartments inside it had also been a
16:23public housing complex in the past. Then it had several changes of ownership.
16:28Delta Real Estate took it over and evicted the last remaining resident
16:32tenants, among other things, starting renovation work while the early
16:36residents were still inside. From 18 apartments they took over 33 units, all
16:43for tourist rentals. This is the first Hampton by Hilton Shane Hotel to open.
16:51648 beds on an island that was one of the few places of potential urban
16:57transformation and could have hosted investment to implement services for
17:02residents, which the city notoriously lacks.
17:05And now we have a short break coming up, but don't go away, we'll be right back.
17:21Welcome back to From the South. The U.S. President Donald Trump ordered immigration
17:28enforcement agencies to heighten raids against migrants in Democrat-led
17:32governorships. On social media, the Republican leader reaffirmed that
17:36immigration and customs control agents must increase their efforts to detain and
17:40deport all undocumented immigrants in cities such as Los Angeles, Chicago and New York, which he described as the core of Democrat power.
17:49The main goal of such anti-immigrant policy has been to accomplish executing
17:55the largest mass deportation program in the history of the United States. In this regard,
18:01President Trump noted the deployment of border patrols and law enforcement agents
18:06on urban cities to repress the likely outburst of rallies against anti-immigration actions.
18:12The suspect in the assassination of the U.S. Democrat Congresswoman Melissa Hortman
18:24and her husband was captured. Law enforcement officials said Vance Walter, 57-year-old, was
18:31arrested on Sunday following a two-day manhunt in the Midwestern state. Walter allegedly shot two Democratic lawmakers
18:38and their spouses earlier on Saturday morning in what officials believe was a politically motivated attack.
18:45Melissa Hortman, a state representative, and her husband, Mark, were killed in the attack while State Senator John
18:53Hoffman and his wife, Ivette, were injured. Lithuanian Colonel Jeremy Gregg Geiger of the Minnesota State Patrol
19:00said Walter surrounded the two of the police without any use of force.
19:08Five people were killed and three went missing in northwestern Virginia when flash floods caused by heavy rain hit the United States.
19:30The authorities reported that rescue efforts were underway on Sunday to find three missing individuals.
19:36They also indicated that between six and ten centimeters of rain fell in just half an hour on Saturday night,
19:43prompting an almost immediate influx of emergency calls for trapped individuals.
19:48Governor Patrick Morrissey declared a state of emergency in Ohio County.
19:53Thousands of people marched in Colombia's main cities on Sunday,
20:05rally against the attack on right-wing presidential precandidate Miguel Uribe Turbay,
20:10who is hospitalized in an intensive care unit.
20:14The 39-year-old senator had been shot three times during a public act in a popular neighborhood of Bogota last Saturday.
20:21The demonstration also spoke out against the recent escalation of violence in several regions as a result of criminal groups outside the law,
20:29which left at least eight people dead and more than 80 wounded in the southwest of the country.
20:35Police have already arrested three people allegedly involved in the crime.
20:51And like this we have come to the end of this news brief for Telesur English.
20:56I'm Alejandra Garcia.
