00:00There's no true explanation for why this sort of dynamic happens with a guy like Paul Skeens, who pitched very well again yesterday against the Cubs.
00:10Like, here in South Florida, Gray, when Sandy Alcantara won the Cy Young Award, he got, like, no run support over the year.
00:16But this is less than no run support.
00:19Have you ever thought about Gray?
00:21Like, do the players just feel comfortable, like they just know they don't have to do anything that day?
00:25I mean, this guy pitches seven, eight innings, gets nothing or one run, and then the Pirates the next day score six, seven runs.
00:33It's so strange.
00:35Yeah.
00:36Yeah, I mean, it's kind of like you have me on here, and you're like, oh, we know Gray's going to talk for 15 straight minutes, so we don't really have to say anything.
00:46It's a similar sort of situation.
00:48You know, I don't know, man, with Paul Skeens, I can't imagine the hitters are like, eh, it's fine.
00:56He's got it.
00:57I just don't think the Pirates really have any hitting, unfortunately.
01:01I mean, they have O'Neal Cruz, obviously.
01:03They have Brian Reynolds.
01:04But after that, it's like, I don't know.
01:08You know, Brian Hayes can only do so much.
01:11Yeah, I mean, that was really a failing of the front office in Pittsburgh and just the, I don't know, maybe the owner didn't want to spend money.
01:23But they really should have went out and got hitting.
01:25I mean, they have one of the best pitchers that we've seen in probably the last decade plus.
01:31I mean, I don't know.
01:32I guess Verlander probably.
01:35Verlander, Scherzer, Skeens.
01:37I mean, you know, Skeens looks like a future Hall of Famer.
01:40God, you know, hopefully his arm holds together, but he's like so good.
01:45You have to build around that as long as you have it.
01:49I don't know the ins and outs of how long a guy has, you know, before he hits the free agent market.
01:55But what is it, 20, 29, 20, 30?
02:00I mean, they only have a couple years to build around them.
02:03So I wish they would.
02:05They just don't have any hitting.
02:06Long story short, you know, it's like there's nothing there.
02:10There's nothing they can do.
02:12Yeah, but how do they score eight runs today?
02:14They're going to score 10 runs today, Gray.
02:16It's going to happen.
02:18Yeah.
02:18Yeah, I guess.
02:19Yeah, maybe it is.
02:21They're just like they see Paul Skeens out there.
02:23Maybe they just don't.
02:24Maybe they don't like him.
02:25I don't know.
02:27I don't know.
02:27It is true, though.
02:31Like, I mean, if he wins, it's like those years with DeGrom as a Met and Sandy.
02:37Yeah, you mentioned, like, Paul Skeens, like, he's going to be a Cy Young guy this year with, what, nine wins?
02:47Four wins?
02:48Four.
02:48I know.
02:49Well, that's, like, what I've been saying, too, with, like, you know, speaking of, like, the Hall of Fame, you know, Verlander's not going to reach 300 wins.
02:57We're never going to see 300 wins again.
02:59DeGrom might get, what, 120 wins in his career?
03:05Like, in his career, that is.
03:06Like, 120.
03:08Like, that's crazy.
03:09Like, guys just don't win games anymore.
03:12I mean, I don't know.
03:14It's bad.
03:15They don't throw enough innings, but, yeah.
03:19Game has changed.
03:20Game has changed since we were younger, right?
03:21Gray, you and I were talking before the show about the New York Yankees, one player we did not talk about, who could return.
03:27They say possibly tomorrow, more than likely Monday, when they go back to Yankee Stadium.
03:31Giancarlo Stanton, do we care?
03:37Yeah, I mean, it depends on the fantasy league, I think.
03:40If you're in a 15-team mixed league or deeper, I think Giancarlo is probably a guy you want to roster.
03:46I mean, he does have power.
03:48I forget what it is, but I think he hit, like, 20 homers last year, an abbreviated year.
03:52He seems like he's good for about a homer every three-ish game.
03:58So, yeah, I like Giancarlo still.
04:01I just, unfortunately, I don't love how he adjusts.
04:05He changes the lineup.
04:06You know, I don't know.
04:07Ben Rice is going to catch, I think.
04:09It's just, it's not great.
04:11I wish Ben Rice would just stay where he is.
04:13But, yeah, I don't know.
04:15Can I stay where he is?
