The Prime Minister also took the former government to task for racking up almost half a billion dollars in rentals. Reading from the Auditor General's latest report, she questioned whether it was a Ghost Rental scheme, as according to the report, the vast majority of rental agreements had no formal documentation to be found. She further noted that some former government ministers had interests in these arrangements.

00:23interests in these arrangements. Expired leases, currently on the monthly tenancy, 90% of these
00:31leases had expired for over a decade and the rent paid differed significantly from what is shown on
00:39the master list. Total rent paid, as shown on the appropriation accounts of ministries and
00:46departments of $493 million and some others, about $493 million, could not be verified. Could not be
00:57verified. As the rent amounts paid were not supported by documentation. And I'm now being advised that then
01:06Minister Faris Alwari recused himself from the Cabinet on March 2nd, 2017 for estate trace barata.
