00:00Now let's cross to our Tehran correspondent, Saeed Azimi.
00:03We're now hearing about new Israeli strikes on the Iranian city of Tabriz, with several killed.
00:09Tell us more.
00:12Yes, Katalina, a fresh period of Israeli strikes are happening right now.
00:18And it's not just limited to Tabriz.
00:20They're hitting Shiraz.
00:22They're also hitting Karman Shah.
00:24And in the fresh crowd of strikes on Tabriz, three were killed.
00:28Three have been confirmed so far.
00:30I'm told the casualties, the number of casualties in Tabriz will go higher.
00:36And in the first wave of attacks on Tabriz, 10 were killed.
00:40So that makes it up 13 killed so far in the city of Tabriz.
00:4510 explosions happened all at once.
00:49One of them was at a factory air base.
00:52The other one was Tabriz airport.
00:55And Tabriz airport was hit very severely.
01:00I think the damage will be catastrophic.
01:03All airports in Iran are shut down until further notice.
01:07All flights to and from Iran are canceled.
01:11And right now, as we speak, an emergency meeting of the IAEA Board of Governors at the request
01:16of the Iranian foreign minister, Abbas Arashi, is underway.
01:19And what are the Israeli military targets that we're seeing so far, Saeed?
01:29In the first wave of attacks, obviously, military commanders, politicians, nuclear scientists,
01:37university professors were the targets.
01:40Apart from the six nuclear scientists that were confirmed dead in the Israeli strikes,
01:45Shahid Ben-Nibesh, the University of Tehran, issued a statement saying a number of their
01:51professors were killed in the Israeli airstrikes because Israel targeted a residential building
01:57that belonged to the Ministry of Science and Technology of Iran and hosted several university
02:05professors, not all of whom were educated in the field of nuclear physics or quantum physics
02:13or even physics at all.
02:15Some of them were math professors.
02:17And this is, again, devastating.
02:20And, Saeed, how rapidly has the Iranian military managed to replace their top commanders?
02:27It seems one has already been replaced.
02:29Now two, reportedly, have been named.
02:32More to come?
02:33Yes, the third one was also introduced, the replacement for the deceased military commander,
02:44Olam Ali Rashid, who was the head of the IRGC, Fatah Malambia headquarters.
02:51He was replaced with Brigader Ali Shadamani.
02:55But there are unverified reports that the IRGC Air Force commander, Amir Ali Haji Zadeh, is killed in the Israeli airstrike.
03:07Israeli media are saying that all of the IRGC Air Force commanders were gathered in one room and they were killed in one single strike.
03:18Iran has not yet confirmed the story, has not yet confirmed the reports and the speculation that Amir Ali Haji Zadeh is dead.
03:28But if this is the case, then finding the replacement for him is very difficult.
03:34Amir Ali Haji Zadeh was the mastermind behind the aerial attacks that Iran carried out against Israel both in April and in October.
03:43And, Saeed, one last quick question.
03:47What do we know, if we know anything so far about an imminent Iranian retaliation?
03:57We are waiting for President President Erdogan to address the people.
04:03He said he will speak to the people shortly.
04:05He will release a video message.
04:07And in his tweet, in his post on X, he said that he and the cabinet took charge immediately after the first Israeli strike.
04:21And the Israeli strike will be avenged by the capable military men of Iran.
04:28So we are right now waiting for an address by the Iranian president.
