Let me start with the latest.
00:02
Iran's army released a statement minutes ago saying that two Iranian army men died in the
00:07
aftermath of the Israeli strikes last night.
00:09
This was literally moments ago before I went online.
00:13
This is the latest.
00:15
I think this chain of events, losing two army men, makes it difficult for Iran not to respond
00:23
or to restrain because there have been reports, including the one published in the New York
00:26
Times, saying that if Israel carries out a limited strike, Iran would be willing to
00:32
let that go and pass it off.
00:34
But then again, two army men died.
00:37
And despite what the IDF says, yes, there may have not been any targettings of sensitive
00:44
nuclear sites that contain uranium.
00:48
But the Iranian air defense system in the city of Pkhonda, which protects the heavy
00:52
water reactor in Arak, was activated.
00:55
And it was heavily engaged, in fact, countering drones and projectiles from Israel.
01:00
So in fact, they did try to target one nuclear facility, though it's a heavy water reactor,
01:06
and it does not contain anything that could contaminate the air around that area.
01:13
But it is a nuclear facility that is under the IAEA investigation.
01:17
So IAEA inspectors come and go frequently.
01:21
So that is one of the red lines that Iran had already warned.
01:25
It has been crossed, an attempt to target a sensitive nuclear facility and losing two
01:31
army men.
01:32
That makes it much more difficult.
01:33
Yeah, that's a real interesting piece of news that could see the attack be escalated.
01:41
What are we hearing from Iran?
01:43
Are there any reaction?
01:45
To be honest, I do not have anything official right now.
01:53
Despite the rhetoric that says that this was an escalatory action, that we will respond,
01:58
this was early in 6 a.m. local time, that would be 4.30 Paris time.
02:06
This was early on in the morning.
02:09
And the issuer of that statement was a civil defense organization and air defense organization
02:14
of Tehran.
02:15
So that's not much reliable.
02:18
But early on, minutes after the New York Times reported that Iran is willing to let go of
02:25
a limited strike, Iran's foreign ministry spokesman said that the report is misleading
02:29
and Iran will respond to any Israeli aggression.
02:34
I can tell you that the first wave of attacks that came from 2.13 a.m. local time and lasted
02:42
for 30 minutes, that could have been something that Iran would be willing to let go.
02:48
But the second and third wave of attacks, especially the one on Arak heavy water, the
02:52
attempt on Arak heavy water, has made things a lot more complicated.
