00:01Kate, you were telling the conference earlier that you put a submission into the state government.
00:05Do you want to explain that a little bit more?
00:07Prior to the election, we put in an election commitment document from ICPA, which had four dot points.
00:12And the first one of those was for a subsidy for home tutors who have to teach their children at home by distance education.
00:20And we didn't get a commitment from government.
00:21So we went ahead and put in a submission to Treasury.
00:25And this submission asked for a $40,000 payment for home tutors.
00:30And that we were hoping to get that in four $10,000 installments.
00:34And that would just be for home tutors of geographically isolated children doing distance education.
00:39Over four years? No.
00:42No, we would like to get $10,000 per term.
00:45Yep.
00:46Yep. And that would be $40,000 per year.
00:49Yep.
00:49Per family.
00:50I understand.
00:51I might have to cut that bit out.
00:53Yep.
00:55And what response did you get from that?
00:58We got a positive response from Minister Perrett, the Agricultural Minister, and he passed that on to Minister Langbrook.
01:04And last delegation, ICPA Queensland met with Minister Langbrook and Sean Dillon.
01:09They said that they couldn't, they were, all their funding for this year was already tied up with election commitment documents,
01:15which we were disappointed with, but ICPA is not known for giving up and we will continue that advocacy and that submission will probably be resubmitted.
01:25One politician did say to us that the goodwill of good people has been taken advantage of for too long.
01:32And I think that is so true.
01:35Mums across the nation have done this for a lot of years and it does feel like that it's been taken for granted when everyone else education is free in an urban place.
01:44But for rural families, it's not.
01:47And there's mums with babies on their hips, toddlers at their feet, a preppy at the desk, they're at their shoring shed, they're in trucks, they're on the road and they've still got to get school done with doing all those other jobs.
01:59And it's just time that they had some recognition and financial recognition.
