Education workers rejected the government's latest pay offer.
Transcript
00:00Hundreds of workers turned out in Launceston Civic Square to reject the government's latest
00:06wage offer for public service workers. Behind me are signatures across Devonport,
00:10Burney and Launceston for protesters. The stop work action forced schools to shut until 11am.
00:17And it isn't just about wages, this is about the conditions and it's about the services
00:22that the community are getting. It's that the Tasmanian education crisis is the result
00:27of our government's outright failure to take action. We're asking for the right to look at our
00:35kids, our mates, our patients and our students in the eye and say, my work matters.
00:43Same job, same pay. We deserve a pay-man pay. Same job, same pay. We deserve a pay-man pay.
00:50We reject the government's revised wages offer of 3%. This is an insult to the hardworking people who
00:56keep this state running and shows contempt for our members and the vital services we provide.
01:02We will continue to engage in industrial action until the government puts forward a fair and decent
01:08offer. One that keeps up with the cost of living and brings Tasmanian workers in line with mainland
01:13wages and conditions. We stand united in demanding respect and fairness in recognition of the work that
01:21we do. If you support that, put your hands, put your paraphernalia, put all your flags in there.
01:27Hold them up with us. What do we want? Fair Paying Commissions! When do we want it? Now!
01:32What do we want? Fair buying conditions!
