05 June- National weather forecast presented by Honor Criswick
Transcript
00:00Hello there, good afternoon. Did you need your broly this morning? Many of us did, thanks
00:05to quite a wet start. And why is this? Well, it's all thanks to low pressure. At the moment,
00:10situated to the north of the country, this brings in a northwesterly wind, so gradually
00:14drags in frontal systems out from the west and southwest, and that leads to some pretty
00:19changeable and wet weather at times. Now, into this afternoon, we'll continue to see
00:24outbreaks of rain, particularly across parts of the southeast, East Anglia, Sussex and
00:28Kent, for example. This will eventually drift away into the North Sea, but behind it, plenty
00:34of showers. These could turn rather heavy, if not quite blustery at times, though a chance
00:38we could see some brighter and dry spells in between. And many areas should see temperatures
00:44around about average for the time of year, if not a touch below in some places.
00:50Then into this evening, still plenty of showers for a time, also some bands of rain just crossing
00:56the English Channel. This could push up across parts of the south and southeast through this
01:00evening before eventually clearing away. So further spells of rain on its way. Then all
01:05eyes to the west, another band of some quite heavy rain moving through towards the early
01:09hours of the morning. Lancashire, Cheshire, for example, could wake up to another quite wet
01:13start. There will be some clearer skies across the southeast, parts of Scotland, where temperatures
01:19may dip a little lower, but for many, cloudy skies to keeping those temperatures up.
01:23Then heading into Friday, it's almost a rinse and repeat, really, of what we see Thursday.
01:28Heavy outbreaks of rain pushing their way eastwards into the North Sea, a little brighter behind,
01:34but once again a risk of showers. Now the main firing zone for those showers is going to
01:38be across the west, the northwest, so there's a chance of a few more brighter, drier spells,
01:43particularly across England and Wales as we head through Friday afternoon, and potentially
01:48feeling a little bit warmer across central and southern England by the time we reach the afternoon
01:52as well.
01:54Then what's next? How about as we head into the weekend? Well, low pressure, still very
01:58much dominating the weather, still drifting in from the west on Saturday, so showers,
02:02longer spells of rain. This could turn heavy, possibly even thundery on Saturday, so do keep
02:07an eye on the forecast there. And then Sunday, a chance of something a little bit brighter,
02:12for more details on this weekend's weather. You can catch Aidan later on YouTube.
