00:00Hello and welcome to Manchester World. My name is Theo Hewson-Bett and this video is your transport update for the week.
00:05We have some exciting news about safety and some information about disappointing delays.
00:10So, there's a bit of something for everyone? Let's get right into it.
00:14We're going to start with some tram improvement works that started earlier this week, with tram track replacement work having begun between Piccadilly Station and Piccadilly Gardens.
00:22This work will be running from now until the 11th of August, which means that for over a month, no tram services will be running via Piccadilly Gardens at all.
00:30The works are very important when it comes to ensuring that the Metrolink network is safe, reliable and accessible for the future, but it doesn't stop it from being a mild inconvenience now.
00:38The work has started now in order to avoid the risk of disrupting travel during the football season, but upcoming music events such as the Oasis gig and park life could be affected slightly.
00:47Here is how trams will change until the 11th of August.
00:49Trams on the Old Tringham to Bury line will not go through Piccadilly Gardens or Piccadilly Station, instead running via Market Street.
00:55Trams from Ashton and Etihad Campus will conclude at Piccadilly Stations, with bus services available to take people further into the city if they can't walk.
01:03The Eccles via Media City line will run to Victoria via Market Street.
01:07The Media City to Etihad Campus trams will not run their peak time services, with double trams offered on the Eccles to Victoria line where necessary.
01:14Sticking with the B Network and a travel safe live chat is set to be released in October,
01:18which will allow passengers on B Network vehicles to report concerns to improve safety and reduce crime on public transport.
01:25It will offer a range of support options from advice to deploying travel safe support and enforcement officers,
01:30which should allow everyone to feel safer when riding the tram or bus in the region.
01:34When the feature is released, we'll do a little tutorial video to show you how to use it.
01:37But that's all for now. Thank you very much for watching and follow Manchester World for more.
01:41We'll be back next week with another transport update.
